2021 Ford Explorer Sees Price Cuts on All Trims

  • After a complete redesign last year, the 2021 Ford Explorer sees few changes beyond prices.
  • Across all Explorer trim levels, prices were cut, with the base price down $540 and the Limited trim falling $5458.
  • The top Explorer Platinum model sees prices reduced by $3770.

As the sixth-generation Ford Explorer enters into its sophomore year, the popular SUV gets its prices slashed across the board for 2021. The Limited trim with all-wheel drive gets the biggest price reduction, coming in at $44,167. That’s $5458 cheaper than the Limited trim level on the 2020 Explorer. The Limited hybrid starts at $50,600, or $2875 cheaper than it was last year.

The base Explorer, which costs $33,470, sees the smallest price decrease as compared to the outgoing 2020 model, which cost $540 more. The XLT, which starts at $35,245, is now $2925 cheaper than last year’s model. The base, XLT, and Limited models all come available with all-wheel drive, which is still a $2000 upcharge—with the exception of the Limited, on which all-wheel drive costs just under $2K for this coming year.

The higher trim levels, the ST and Platinum, also are getting big price cuts for 2021. Both come standard with all-wheel drive, and the ST, which starts at $53,850 for 2021, is $2135 cheaper than last year. The highest trim, the Platinum, starts at $55,725, which is $3770 cheaper than the outgoing model year.

After a complete redesign last year, the 2021 Explorer saw only modest changes for 2021, including making heated seats standard and a heated steering wheel optional on the XLT and making the Sport Appearance package available in the XLT trim.
