As India completes its third phase of COVID-19 lockdown protocols, automotive dealerships in select cities (green and orange zones) are gradually opening for business. Last week, Bajaj Auto shared the full list of KTM India dealerships (which also double up as Husqvarna outlets) that have been opened following all recommended COVID-19 safety guidelines. Previously, the Indian automotive industry had demanded a full exemption from the lockdown as sales hit virtually zero units in April 2020.
Major OEMs have advised all its dealer partners and their staff to function without making any compromises on the safety front. Social distancing and effective sanitisation will be carried out across facilities while face masks are compulsory for both employees and visitors. Experts predict that the entire scenario of buying a new vehicle would remain different for a long time as the world follows the ‘new normals’.
Meanwhile, KTM has announced a price hike in the range of Rs 4,000-5,000 across its BS6 range. A similar increment also applies to the new Husqvarna models: Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250. This is the first price hike after the products were updated to BS6 emission norms. Below is the detailed revision of their ex-showroom prices:
KTM Duke, RC, ADV – Price List May 2020
KTM BS6 | New Price | Old Price | Diff |
---|---|---|---|
Duke 125 | Rs 1.42 L | Rs 1.38 L | Rs 4,200 |
Duke 200 | Rs 1.77 L | Rs 1.73 L | Rs 4,100 |
Duke 250 | Rs 2.05 L | Rs 2.00 L | Rs 4,700 |
Duke 390 | Rs 2.58 L | Rs 2.53 L | Rs 5,000 |
RC 125 | Rs 1.6 L | Rs 1.55 L | Rs 4,300 |
RC 200 | Rs 2.01 L | Rs 1.97 L | Rs 4,100 |
RC 390 | Rs 2.53 L | Rs 2.48 L | Rs 5,100 |
390 ADV | Rs 3.04 L | Rs 2.99 L | Rs 5,100 |
KTM’s entry-level Duke 125 gets a price hike of Rs 4,223. For the Duke 200, Duke 250 and Duke 390 models, the figure rises to Rs 4,096, Rs 4,736 and Rs 4,978, respectively. The naked sports model line’s faired ‘RC’ siblings do not consist of a ‘250’ variant in India even though it is a popular export product from Bajaj Auto’s Chakan manufacturing facility. Prices of the RC 125, RC 200 and RC 390 were raised by Rs 4,352, Rs 4,096 and Rs 5,109, respectively.
The KTM 390 Adventure was the first product from the brand to be updated to BS6 specifications. Offering supreme value for money in terms of both performance and equipment, the 390 Adventure has become more of a benchmark in the Indian motorcycle market. Thanks to a reportedly affordable price tag, the upcoming BS6 BMW G 310 siblings could be a worthy alternative. Ex-showroom prices of the 390 Adventure have gone up by Rs 5,109.
As the name suggests, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 share their power plant with KTM’s ‘250’ range. With their unique design languages, the ‘Huskies’ have created a niche in the market. Output figures remain the same as their KTM counterparts while the original ex-showroom pricing has been hiked by Rs 4,736.
