Lamborghini just revealed the rear-wheel-drive version of the Huracán Evo Spyder in the most 2020 way possible: via augmented reality. It’s a droptop version of the rear-wheel-drive Huracán Evo that was released earlier this year with 30 percent more oversteer. Let us reword that: It’ll do some mean open-air powerslides.
The Huracán Evo replaced the nightmarishly quick Huracán Performante—the second-quickest car C/D has ever tested—and was meant to be Lamborghini’s “entry level” model. At launch, it was only available with all-wheel drive in either coupe or Spyder variants until earlier this year, when Lambo added a cheaper and slightly less powerful rear-drive Evo. Now, you’ll be able to powerslide with the roof down.
Rear-wheel-drive Evo models are powered by the same naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10, but it’s detuned to make 602 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque compared to the all-wheel-drive model’s 631 horsepower and 442 lb-ft. Lamborghini claims a zero-to-62-mph time of 3.5 seconds in the RWD Evo Spyder and a top speed of 201 mph. The AWD EVO is significantly quicker, reaching 60 mph in 2.4 seconds, but it costs $58,000 more than the RWD Spyder, and you’ll have a harder time kicking out the rear end.
The Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder RWD’s dry weight comes in at 3326 pounds, and it has a 40/60 weight distribution. A set of 19-inch wheels—20-inch wheels are optional—are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires, and ventilated and cross-drilled steel brakes are standard.
Customers can start taking delivery of the rear-wheel-drive Huracán Evo Spyder this summer at a starting price of $233,123. That’s around $20,000 more than the rear-wheel-drive Evo coupe.
