The KTM 390 Adventure is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh and is easily one of the best buys for what you pay
The KTM 390 Adventure hit the Indian market after a long wait and once it did, the motorcycle impressed everyone. For starters, the pricing was brilliant at Rs 2.99 lakh ex-showroom as even the best speculations pinned a much higher figure. India is also one of the first countries to receive it thanks to the impressive sales performance KTM India has been witnessing since its inception almost a decade ago.
The KTM 390 Adventure is easily one of the best choices for the price you pay. Even though it has an ‘Adventure’ tag, the motorcycle is essentially a dual-sport (capable of both on-road and off-road performance). The same trait has been showcased in the all-new KTM 390 Adventure TVC shared on the Austrian brand’s official social media handles.
The video highlights the motorcycle’s dynamics on wide and curvy open roads as well as over tricky terrain. KTM dubs the 390 Adventure as an ‘ultra-versatile and accessible’ choice from their wide portfolio. The global model you see in the video is marginally different from the one we get in India.
The India-spec KTM 390 Adventure (assembled at Bajaj Auto’s plant in Chakan, Pune) comes with WP USD forks at the front while the international model boasts of adjustable units. On the other hand, the Indian version rides on Metzeler Tourance tyres when the global model gets Continental TKC 70 rubber.
The KTM 390 range (which includes the Duke, RC and now the Adventure) sets the benchmark for value for money in terms of performance. In the updated BS6 format, the 373.2cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder motor churns out 43bhp @ 9,000rpm and 37Nm @ 7,000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission via a slipper clutch. The 390 Adventure (and the BS6 390 Duke) comes with a bi-directional Quickshifter+.
Other equipment include full-LED lighting, TFT instrument console with Bluetooth and turn-by-turn navigation, KTM MyRide app connectivity (optional), ride-by-wire, three-axis IMU (Intertial Measurement Unit) that is coupled to cornering ABS; corner-sensitive traction control, ‘off-road’ mode, adjustable windscreen and more. Put in other words, the KTM 390 Adventure offers the most number of features in its segment.
The KTM 390 Adventure comes in only two colour schemes: White and Orange. The motorcycle has a kerb weight of 177kg and fuel-tank capacity of 14.3 litres. It rides on 19-inch (F) and 17-inch (R) alloy wheels while spoke wheels could come as part of KTM PowerParts catalogue in the future. The 2020 KTM 390 Adventure rivals the BMW G 310 GS, Royal Enfield Himalayan and a few entry-level parallel-twin adventure-tourers.
