- The stream on Twitch will consist of three races with 100 percent identically spec’d cars on a mutually agreed-upon track; the fourth is open to your suggestions.
If you’re reading this, then there’s a great chance that, like us, you’ve been asked to work from home. As we follow the necessary physical-distancing protocols, we must also find a way to remain calm and keep ourselves entertained.
That being said, we’ve agreed to face off against fellow automotive publications Road & Track and Autoweek in a friendly bit of Forza Motorsport 7 competition. Tomorrow, Friday, March 20, at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time, we’ll be streaming the race to all of you quarantined folks on Twitch.
Representing Autoweek will be Jake Lingeman and Wesley Wren, while Editor-In-Chief Travis Okulski and Editor Brian Silvestro will be heading the Road & Track efforts. Last but not least, we’ll have Lightning Lap driver David Beard, and myself as the Car and Driver hotshoes.
Dave and I have been playing Forza since the dawn of time—well, really just since it came out in 2005—and we plan to take the pain to our fellow competitors. Both of our jobs require us to extract the best possible numbers out of any car we test. That means that we may hold a bit of an advantage over the other teams, but, hey, anything can happen out on the track.
The stream will consist of four races, the first three at a specifically chosen track and with a particular vehicle that all must use; each publication will choose a pair of their liking, and the cars will be spec’d 100 percent identically. However, for the fourth track and car combo, we’d like you to decide what we do. Suggestions welcomed on Backfires at the bottom of this page.
Also welcomed: Our friendly rivals are claiming they’re going to win. Let’s humor them (for now).
