Suzuki BS6 models: Gixxer, Intruder and Burgman showcased at Auto Expo 2020 with slightly lesser output.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has used the prestigious 2020 Auto Expo to unveil its entire two-wheeler range that now comply with the stricter BS6 emission regulations. These include the Burgman Street, Intruder, Gixxer Series and Gixxer SF series while the company also displayed the Suzuki Access 125 BS6 scooter which has already been launched in India. No prices were revealed, which could be disclosed closer to launch dates.

Starting with the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 BS6-compliant version, the company has also revealed the MotoGP edition of this scooter. The maxi-scooter is powered by a 124cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. While it continues to offer the same 8.6 bhp power at 6,750 rpm, torque figures have come down by 0.2 Nm to 10.2 Nm, but come in 500 rpm later at 5,500 rpm. In terms of suspension and braking, there are no changes to the Suzuki Burgman Street which gets telescopic forks, monoshock, disc brake in front and drum brake at the rear. Body changes include a matte finished red color along with the MotoGP edition getting the Suzuki Ecstar decal on its bodywork.

The Suzuki Intruder the 155cc cruiser was also detailed at the Auto Expo in its BS6 format. Engine changes now see the 155cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine offering 13.4 bhp power at 8,000 rpm and 13.8 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm which are marginally lower than that offered on the BS4 engine (14.6 bhp and 14 Nm). The engine gets mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Hardware remains unchanged with the telescopic fork in front and monoshock at the rear, disc brakes at the front and rear along with single-channel ABS offered as standard. However, kerb weight is 152 kgs; around 4 kgs heavier than its BS4 compliant model.

The lower-capacity Suzuki Gixxer 150 and Gixxer SF 150 now use the same 155cc engine in BS6 formats that offer 13.6bhp power at 8,000rpm and 13.8Nm peak torque at 6,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The two models get disc brakes at both ends (with single-channel ABS) along with all LED light setup. Sales of these two bikes are expected to start from March 2020.

The quarter-litre Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 is powered by a BS6 compliant 249cc, single-cylinder engine capable of 26bhp power (less by 0.5bhp) at 9,300 rpm and 22.2 Nm torque at 7,300 rpm. Though torque figure is lower by 0.4 Nm as compared to that offered on the BS4 bike, it is produced 200rpm earlier while peak power comes in 300 rpm later. The launch is expected sometime in March 2020 and prices could range from Rs.1.85-1.90 lakh ex-sh.

Unlike initially expected, the Japanese motorcycle brand did not reveal anything major for the Indian market besides the BS6 line-up. However, premium interesting products such as the Hayabusa, Katana, GSX-RR were present in the pavilion.
