Yamaha sales declined severely in Dec 2024 with all but the RayZR showing improved YoY demand
Yamaha Motor India witnessed a sharp decline in sales in Dec 2024. Sales in domestic markets fell by 8.15% year -on-year (YoY) to 36,780 units, down from 40,042 units sold in Dec 2023. This related to a 3,262 unit volume decline. Yamaha also suffered a 34.06% month-on-month (MoM) de-growth over 55,781 unit sales of Nov 2024, an even greater dip in volumes by 19,001 units. This decline in sales is commonly seen post the festive demand and typical in the Indian two-wheeler market.

Every model on the company portfolio has seen declining sales except for the RayZR. RayZR scooter sales grew by 38.86% to 12,002 units last month, up from 8,643 unit sales of Dec 2024 to command a 32.63% share in the company portfolio. MoM sales however, suffered a 16.81% setback as there had been 14,428 units sold in Nov 2024.
Thereafter every model ended Dec 2024 in the red. Yamaha FZ sales declined by 20.63% YoY and 50.59% MoM to 8,558 units. Sales of this sporty street bike had been well over the 10,000 unit mark both in Dec 2023 and Nov 2024 at 10,783 units and 14,406 units respectively. At no. 3 was Yamaha Fascino, also in the scooter segment, with 5,475 unit sales in Dec 2024, down by 1.86% over 5,579 units sold in Dec 2023. Its MoM sales decline was even more extreme by 30.88% from 7,921 units sold in Nov 2024. Yamaha Fascino’s share in the company portfolio stands at 15.89%.
Yamaha MT15 and R15 – Double Digit De-growth
Double digit decline in sales was reported for both Yamaha MT15 and R15. MT15 sales fell by 18.43% YoY and 47.20% MoM to 5,224 units. There were 6,404 units and 9,894 units sold in Dec 2023 and Nov 2024 respectively. R15 sales on the other hand suffered a 41.77% YoY degrowth to 4,269 units from 7,331 units sold in Dec 2023. Its MoM sales slipped by 39.92% when compared to 7,105 units sold in Nov 2024.
Yamaha Aerox scooter too saw significantly lower YoY and MoM sales in Dec 2024. Sales dipped 4.15% to 1,248 units in Dec 2024 while MoM sales fell by 38.19% over 2,019 unit sales of Nov 2024. There were only 4 units of the R3/MT03 sold last month relating to a 50% MoM decline from 8 units sold in Nov 2024.
Yamaha has a healthy sales target for 2025 when the company plans a series of new launches. Recent unveilings at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 earlier this month revealed Tenere 700, Lander 250 and MT-09 along with the R7. The company has also showcased both the FZ-S and FZ-X Hybrid ahead of official launch.
