After launching Vida V2 electric scooter range, Hero MotoCorp is excited to launch more EVs. As seen with recent developments, Vida brand can see a major portfolio expansion including electric off-road bikes for adults and kids. One of them has been patented in India, indicating a launch soon. Let’s take a look.
Hero Vida Electric ADV
Vida electric scooter sub-brand from motorcycle giant Hero MotoCorp is yet to make a significant dent in electric scooter space. The company has surpassed most of its startup rivals and often features among the top five best-selling electric scooters in India. However, there can be more sales and they don’t have to be just electric scooters.
Hero MotoCorp seems to be launching an electric off-road motorcycle in 2025. An electric dirt bike, if you may. If you recall, Hero MotoCorp showcased two electric ADV motorcycle concepts at EICMA 2023. Called Lynx and Acro, these electric off-road motorcycles grabbed a lot of eyeballs.
Lynx concept was an electric dirt bike for adults, while Acro concept was an electric learner dirt bike for kids. Looking at the design patent filed by Hero MotoCorp in India, it looks a lot like a production version of Acro concept. The main reason that points towards it being an Acro and not Lynx, is the lack of traditional motorcycle braking equipment at the front.
Yes, the design trademarked in India does not have conventional disc brakes at the front, like the ones seen on Lynx concept. That’s because it is likely to get the exposed shoe-type braking system we see in bicycles, similar to the setup showcased with Acro concept. It will be dedicated to kids as a learner bike.
Will it be road legal?
Where dimensions are concerned, it will be substantially small, even when compared to the smallest of motorcycles for adults. We can see a raised handlebar, centre-set foot pegs and a flat seat for an upright seating position. Front suspension looks like they are height-adjustable USD telescopic units with beefy fork covers and a rear mono-shock. Allowing users to adjust this motorcycle’s ergos to suit them perfectly.
We can see a removable electric battery across the spine of this machine and a mid-mounted electric motor. This electric motor drives rear wheel with what looks like a belt drive. Knobby tyres make this motorcycle look like it is off-road-ready. We also don’t see a speedo on this motorcycle. Instead, we can see a Vida branding where instrument cluster should have been.
Where performance is concerned, this Hero Vida electric ADV based on Acro concept might be packing quite a punch, enough to kick the tail out on corners and get to speeds to achieve jumps. There is a possibility that it might not be road-legal and only a tool to be used on off-road tracks or trails for future champions to learn and build skills on.
