When launched, Aprilia Tuono 457 will bear RS457’s parallel-twin engine to rival Yamaha MT-03, KTM 390 Duke and others
The Indian motorcycling fraternity has been evolving to explore bikes with higher performance ceilings. Many buyers upgrade from 200cc – 250cc segment into the 400cc – 450cc segment for a meaningful bump in performance. However, for a few buyers, the upgrade path is defined by an increase in cylinders of a motorcycle’s engine.
There are very few manufacturers catering for this niche and Aprilia is one among them. With the launch of locally manufactured RS 457, Aprilia opened a new chapter in India. Now Aprilia is expanding its 457cc portfolio with Tuono 457. This motorcycle has been listed on their website and the launch is likely to happen very soon.
Aprilia Tuono 457 Listed
Among the many offerings showcased by Piaggio Group at EICMA 2024 show, one motorcycle stood apart, with significant relevance to Indian market. That motorcycle was Tuono 457, a street naked counterpart of the popular and attractively priced Aprilia RS 457. Owing to its styling and genre, it will be more affordable than RS 457.
Now, the company has listed Tuono 457 on its official website. It is positioned among the Hero section at the top, with a Discover More button. This button is still inactive and this Hero section doesn’t lead to a dedicated page yet. So, it is still a work in progress, but one that may launch very soon.
Just like the RS 457, Aprilia Tuono 457 will be manufactured at Piaggio’s state of the art manufacturing facility at Baramati in Maharashtra. When launched, it will rival the likes of Yamaha MT-03 and KTM 390 Duke, among others. Considering that it is listed on official website, launch might be right around the corner.
Strong Family Genes
Where design is concerned, Aprilia Tuono 457 looks like a smaller Tuono 660, which is not a bad thing in any sense of the word. It gets muscular tank shrouds that extend downwards, lending a lot of muscle. Striking LED headlights and LED DRL signature, muscular USD front forks, macho fuel tank, exposed frame, sporty rear section grab attention.
We get a wide street-style handlebar with advanced switchgear that controls the TFT digital cluster, equipped with Bluetooth connectivity among others. The 457cc parallel-twin engine makes 47 bhp and 43.5 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. A bi-directional quick-shifter will be optional, while a slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, TCS and other features will be standard.
Componentry includes USD telescopic front forks, a rear mono-shock suspension setup, a single disc brake setup at the front and rear along with 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. While front end gets a 110-section tyre, rear gets a 150-section tyre. We can expect it to get attractive colourways to boost its appeal further.
