A lot of aftermarket accessories, custom CNC and lathe machined components along with hand-crafted elements make Neev Motorcycles Katana
Royal Enfield motorcycles are one of the favourites for custom jobs. It is like a vanilla ice cream which can take any sort of toppings, mixed flavours and sprinkles too. Neev Motorcycles is one of the most renowned motorcycle modders in the country.
Their newest creation Katana is based on a donor bike that started life as a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. Now, Neev has transformed this vanilla cruiser into a flavourful scrambler-style motorcycle flexing on its newfound muscle. Katana screams sophistication and style and reflects Neev Motorcycles’ designing prowess.
Neev Motorcycles Katana – The Scrambler Interceptor 650 wish it was
One look at Neev motorcycles Katana is enough to appreciate the design language. Neev has not digressed from Interceptor 650’s original design. But enhanced it in a way that comes off as tasteful and macho. The main elements contributing to that effect are front USD telescopic forks and side mounted and vertically stacked instrument clusters.
Along with these, 170/60-17 front block pattern tyres lend an aggressive approach. The same tyre wrapped on 17” wheel is at the rear too. Both wheels get covers to make the design sleeker and more sophisticated. Unlike other builds in the past, Neev didn’t go for a dual disc setup at the front. Instead, they chose to upgrade the front caliper to a 4-pot unit, kept rear setup unchanged.
To make Katana, Neev hand-fabricated a lot of components. Some of these include front and rear mudguards, side body panels, detailing on its fuel tank, wheel covers, exhaust system and its protective covers, a new subframe along with a new tail tidy, a stylish sump guard that doubles as engine cowl, number plate holders and the setup for repositioned instrument consoles.
Ribbed seat is custom too and screams Scrambler design and Neev has added a bolt-on backrest as well. CNC machined wide triple tree is made out of billet aluminium, custom CNC machined clip on handlebars and Neev is offering lathe-machined disc brake fittings, axles and spacers as well. The intricately finished colour schemes look swanky.
Interceptor 650 will Scramble On with this new mod job
The only oddity in this build is in its exhaust system. Neev has installed Akropovic branded exhaust end cans on both sides. On its left exhaust, this end can is not mirrored. In this sense, it is optimised for right-side exhaust applications and looks slightly odd when installed on the left side. Neev could have gone for exhaust rerouting into one right-side high-set Scrambler-style exhaust too.
Maybe customer briefing dictated this end-result. Other than that, Neev Motorcycles Katana is a heart throbber. Neev Motorcycles has installed a lot of high-end aftermarket components on Katana. Some of them are LED headlights, LED tail lights, LED blinkers, exhaust mufflers, a rear tyre hugger, ORVMs and handlebar grips. In other news, Royal Enfield is coming up with a new Scrambler based on Interceptor 650. It can take the name Interceptor Bear 650 (trademarked). The company might launch it in 2024.
