TVS Sales December 2024 – Wraps Up on a High Note, 321,687 Units
TVS Motor Company recorded total sales of 321,687 units in December 2024. This marked a 6.55 percent growth compared to 301,898 units in December 2023. The figures reflected steady momentum in sales, especially in 2w, e2w, 2w exports and domestic 3w vehicles.
Two-wheeler sales reached 312,002 units in December 2024, up from 290,064 units the previous year. This represented an increase of 21,938 units, or 7.56 percent. Domestic sales remained stable with 215,075 units sold, a marginal growth of 87 units over December 2023. Export sales saw a substantial rise of 29.11 percent with 96,927 units shipped compared to 75,076 units in the prior year.
Domestic Motorcycles Slip 2.19 percent Despite Stronger Overall Sales
Motorcycle sales dropped to 144,811 units in December 2024 from 148,049 units a year earlier. This decline of 3,238 units translated to a 2.19 percent decrease. Motorcycles continued to account for a significant portion of TVS’s overall sales.
Scooter sales exhibited growth, rising to 133,919 units in December 2024, up from 103,167 units in December 2023. This 29.81 percent increase added 30,752 units to the segment. Scooters played a critical role in offsetting declines in other vehicle categories.
20,171 Units: Electric Two-Wheelers
Electric two-wheeler sales surged by 78.69 percent, reaching 20,171 units in December 2024, compared to 11,288 units last December. This growth of 8,883 units bodes well for TVS’ focus on expanding its electric vehicle market share and cater to growing market demand.
Moped sales dropped significantly, recording 33,272 units in December 2024, a decline of 14.35 percent from 38,848 units in December 2023. This decrease of 5,576 units created a small dent but did not drag down total 2W sales in the red.
Export Slowdown Hits 3W Sales
Three-wheeler sales contracted to 9,685 units in December 2024 from 11,834 units in December 2023. The 18.16 percent decline, amounting to 2,149 units, was primarily due to reduced export shipments, which fell by 27.62 percent year-on-year.
Exports of two- and three-wheelers reached 104,393 units in December 2024, growing by 22.25 percent over the previous year’s 85,391 units. Domestic sales of 217,294 units showed a minimal increase of 0.36 percent, reflecting the importance of international markets for overall growth.
Q3 Sees TVS at 11.8 Lakh Units in Two-Wheeler Sales
Two-wheeler sales for Q3 FY24-25 totalled 11.8 lakh units, an 11 percent rise from 10.6 lakh units in Q3 FY23-24. Electric two-wheelers saw a 57 I percent increase, with 0.76 lakh units sold compared to 0.48 lakh units in the same quarter the previous fiscal year. Three-wheeler sales, however, declined by 23.68 percent, recording 0.29 lakh units versus 0.38 lakh units in Q3 FY23-24.
