Bajaj Pulsar RS160 and Pulsar RS400 In The Works – Launch After RS200?

Bajaj Pulsar RS400 Render

Suggested by multiple official teasers and recent spy shots, Bajaj will soon launch an updated Pulsar RS200 in India with more features

The Pulsar lineup witnessed a systematic update from Bajaj Auto in 2024. Updates were made to Pulsar NS160, Pulsar NS200, Pulsar N160, Pulsar N150, Pulsar N250, Pulsar F250, Pulsar 220F, Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 125. In that regard, we will witness the launch of an updated Pulsar RS200 in 2025 with improved features and components.

However, we also saw the expansion of Pulsar lineup in 2024. We’re talking about the launch of Pulsar N125 and Pulsar NS400Z. Now, a recent report suggests Bajaj is working on expanding Pulsar lineup further in 2025. These new launches will be with Pulsar RS lineup, spawning a Pulsar RS160 and Pulsar RS400.

Bajaj Pulsar RS160 and Pulsar RS400

Pulsar lineup has been the most important for the brand ever since the launch of 1st Gen Pulsar 150. These motorcycles are exciting and thrilling and are priced appropriately, thus garnering a massive cult following. The company has been teasing a new motorcycle, slated to launch soon and it is highly likely to be an updated Pulsar RS200.

A recent report suggests that Bajaj Auto is working on 160cc and 400cc versions of Pulsar RS (Racing Sports). The obvious target is Yamaha R15 for Pulsar RS160 and KTM RC390 and upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400 for Pulsar RS400.

2025 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 Spied

The prospect of a fully-faired Yamaha R15 rival at around Rs 1.4 lakh is enticing. That too, from the house of Bajaj bearing a Pulsar badge. Prospect of a Pulsar RS400 is equally enticing. One that Indian motorcycling fraternity has been craving for a long time at around Rs 2.2 lakh (Ex-sh) expected price.

To push the sales envelope even further, we think Bajaj should come up with a Pulsar RS125, based on Pulsar NS125 at around Rs 1.2 lakh (Ex-sh). It makes perfect sense as 125cc Pulsars are Bajaj’s best-sellers. People often buy vehicles for looks and appeal, and not for their capabilities. Pulsar NS125’s 124cc 4V DTS-i engine with 12 PS power might prove sufficient.

What to expect?

Sticking with Pulsar RS160 and Pulsar RS400, these might launch after Pulsar RS200. We can expect Pulsar RS160 to be based on Pulsar NS160 with the same oil-cooled 4V 160.3cc engine with 17.2 PS of peak power and 14.6 Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. For context, Yamaha R15 makes 18.5 PS and 14.2 Nm from its DOHC 4V liquid-cooled 155cc engine.

Pulsar RS400, on the other hand, can be expected to be based on Pulsar NS400Z and get identical fairing as Pulsar RS200. The 373cc liquid-cooled DOHC 4V liquid-cooled engine makes 40 PS and 35 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It would be poetic if the company launched updated Pulsar RS200, Pulsar RS160 and Pulsar RS400 in 2025 to celebrate the decennial of Pulsar RS200 launch, which happened in 2015.
