Mahindra BE 6 appeals to young audiences and buyers craving a taste of the future, but Tata Curvv EV might appeal to mature buyers
With the launch of BE 6 and XEV 9e, Mahindra has been a trending topic in the automotive industry. The company has stirred many interests among enthusiasts and general consensus alike. Ahead of a full-fledged launch, an XEV 9e reached a showroom in Chandigarh as seen in yesterday’s post.
Today, the topic is more interesting. Because a BE 6 was spied on in public without any camouflage. The image from Bunny Punia shows a Mahindra BE 6 charging beside its arch-rival, the Tata Curvv EV. Both vehicles are design-wise, genre-wise, size-wise and price-wise competitors, but they both take vastly different approaches in their execution.
BE 6 Spied Beside Curvv EV
Tata Motors launched the Curvv EV earlier this year, featuring a coupe SUV design for the first time in India. In design, it bears quite a lot of similarities with its smaller sibling Nexon and larger sibling Harrier. Like a perfect bridge between both Nexon and Harrier, with a unique Coupe SUV design of its own.
Mahindra Be 6 was launched recently at their Unlimit India event and it has made quite a lot of noise in the industry. That’s because Mahindra has thrown convention out of the equation while designing BE 6 and it takes a futuristic and sporty Coupe SUV shape. For people who don’t want conventional, BE 6 will appeal a lot more.
Even on the inside, Tata Curvv EV takes a conventional approach as it bears basically the same interiors as Nexon EV, with a few tweaks here and there. BE 6, on the other hand, has an entirely new and vastly more exciting jet fighter inspired interior theme. It even has a split in the middle that screams sporty and the overall interior quality is impressive.
Comparing side by side, the design of Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Curvv EV lends a lot of perspectives. While BE 6 emerges as an immediate winner for young audiences or someone seeking extravagant design, Curvv EV emerges as the more mature and timeless. It looks like it will appeal more to a majority of buyers and Curvv EV’s design may age better.
Performance and Charging
Pricing is a factor that breaks or makes a product. Tata Curvv EV starts from Rs 17.49 lakh and goes till Rs 21.99 lakh (Ex-sh) and offers a 45 kWh battery in base and 55 kWh battery in higher variants. In comparison, Mahindra BE 6 is priced from Rs 18.9 lakh and it gets a larger 59 kWh battery in lower variants and 79 kWh battery in higher variants.
Curvv EV’s maximum performance ceiling is 167 bhp and 215 Nm, while it is 286 bhp and 380 Nm with Mahindra BE 6. Both vehicles don’t yet offer a dual-motor AWD variant. But, BE 6 is RWD as standard, whereas Curvv EV is FWD. Range figures and charging speeds also favour Mahindra among this duo.
