2021 Toyota Sienna, Now a Hybrid, Is Slightly More Expensive

  • Toyota has announced pricing for the 2021 Sienna minivan, which received an aggressive redesign and a new hybrid powertrain.
  • The new Sienna is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors that combine to make 243 horsepower.
  • The 2021 Sienna will arrive in dealerships next month starting at $35,635, up $2820 from the now discontinued base L model’s 2020 price of $32,815.

Toyota has given the Sienna minivan a complete redesign for the 2021 model year that makes the aggressive-looking family hauler look even more aggressive. It comes in either front- or all-wheel drive configurations, and unlike previous versions, the Sienna is only offered with a new hybrid powertrain—a move that Toyota says is in response to buyers who wanted better fuel economy and instantaneous torque. The 2021 Sienna starts at $35,635 and reaches just over $50,000 for the all-wheel-drive Platinum model.

A 245-hp 2.5-liter inline-four paired with two electric motors powers the new minivan. The 2021 model is nearly a second slower to 60 mph than the previous model with its 296-hp V-6, but it has significantly better EPA-rated fuel economy at 36 mpg, compared to 21 mpg for the front-wheel-drive 2020 Sienna. The 2021 Sienna comes standard with front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is available, which adds another electric motor at the rear.

The Sienna’s $35,635 starting price is for the base front-wheel-drive LE model (the standard L on the 2020 model is no longer offered), which comes equipped with the stowable middle seat. Upgrade to all-wheel drive, and the price rises to $37,635. The next step up is the XLE, which can be had with the eight-seat configuration with the stowable middle seat, though it can also be ordered with seven seats, and it starts at $40,925 for both options. All-wheel drive costs $42,925.

The sporty XSE model with 20-inch wheels and unique front and rear bumpers starts at $43,175 with front-wheel drive and $43,935 with all-wheel drive. Loaded Limited ($47,875) and Platinum ($51,075) models are also available, and they have a standard JBL sound system. All-wheel drive costs an additional $1800 for the Limited and $560 for the top-of-the-line Platinum model.

The 2021 Toyota Sienna will arrive at dealerships next month starting at $35,635 for the base LE model and topping out at $51,635 for a Platinum model with all-wheel drive.
