- A new Autoweek video series, “In the Car With,” puts an editor and a celebrity guest in the driver’s seat of two different cars while they talk.
- The format of course, is another adaptation of virtual meetings in this coronavirus era.
- The first guest is gymkhana superstar Ken Block.
Our colleagues at Autoweek have just rolled out the first installment a new video series named “In the Car With,” in which editors will be talking—remotely—with some of the greatest names in the automotive world, every Wednesday, from the driver’s seat of some sweet cars—a welcome adaptation of social distancing. Fitting, considering the majority of us are holed up in our houses waiting out the COVID-19 lockdowns.
For the first installment of ITCW, Autoweek invites one of the world’s most well-known drivers, Ken Block. You may have heard that name before in relation to, oh, I don’t know, maybe gymkhana? In the episode, Ken talks with editor Jake Lingeman about the newest gymkhana car, the Hoonifox, and his aspirations to film it in Miami with an ’80s Miami Vice vibe.
Lingeman also talks to Block about his newest show on Quibi with Idris Elba; a recent trip to Swing Arm City, Utah, which Block refers to as a skate park for side-by-sides, where he performed the craziest jump of his career; and a quick round of questions about how Block has adjusted to being at home so much during the lockdown. We’re excited to see who will be a video-series guest next and can’t wait to check it out. Meanwhile, tune in to see what Ken Block thinks of the Fast and Furious movies (not what you’re expecting) and his opinion on Netflix’s Tiger King documentary.
