Hyundai, Please Actually Make the Palisade N

  • Hyundai teased a rendering of a Palisade N on Instagram for April Fools’ Day.
  • It also posted renderings of a Nexo hydrogen fuel-cell crossover and a Prophecy EV concept with the N treatment.
  • If the Palisade N was actually a real thing, we’d think it’d be powered by a higher-output version of the Genesis GV80’s twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6.

Right now, Hyundai only offers one car with its N (which stands for Namyang, home to Hyundai’s R&D center, and also for the Nürburgring) high-performance treatment, and that’s the rowdy Veloster N. The Kona compact crossover could also be getting the N treatment, too, because we recently spied a prototype testing on the ‘Ring. Hyundai is teasing us today, though, because it released renderings of a Palisade N on Instagram for April Fools’ Day.

We like what we see. The Palisade N is finished in Performance Blue, the color of our long-term Veloster N, which we adore, with red accents on the front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser. It looks a bit lower, with wider hips, and out back it’s equipped with a rear decklid spoiler and a quad-tip exhaust.

Currently, the Palisade’s sole powertrain option is a 291-hp 3.8-liter V-6 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the same unit that’s used in its Kia Telluride sibling. If this Palisade N were real—and we’re daydreaming here—we think it would use a higher-output version of the Genesis GV80’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6, putting out around 400 ponies.

Hyundai also teased renderings of N versions of the Nexo hydrogen fuel-cell crossover, which is only available for sale in California, and the Prophecy electric concept.
