Yamaha MT15 Based XSR 155 Modified As Flat Track Concept

Yamaha MT15 Based XSR 155 ModifiedYamaha isn’t going to launch XSR 155 in India anytime soon, the company instead launched FZ-X in the country last yearYamaha XSR 155 is one of the raging entry-level neo-retro motorcycles across several international markets, especially in Asia. It is undoubtedly one of the best looking bikes on sale globally by the Japanese bikemaker. As we all know, XSR 155 is based on a very versatile architecture that underpins a whole lot of models. These include YZF R15, MT-15, Aerox 155 and Nmax 155. The sheer versatility of the platform and engine is a major reason why aftermarket workshops are attracted to it. An Indonesian custom house named PapnMam has shown what the XSR 155 can be transformed into without changing its mechanicals.Yamaha XSR 155 turned Modern Flat TrackThe workshop has completely overhauled the stock neo-retro design of XSR 155 into a flat track concept and the modification carried out is simply radical. This customisation project is a part of the Yamaha Yard Built program which means the donor bike has been provided by Yamaha itself. PapnMam has named this custom-built motorcycle as ‘Modern Flat Track Concept’.The custom bike justifies its ‘modern’ tag as the modified XSR155 looks straight out from a science fiction movie with its futuristic styling. Since it is a flat track concept, body styling on the bike is flat and sleek with sharper edges and a flowy design with a distinct triangular shape. Speaking about modifications, not a single element from the attire of the stock XSR 155 has been retained.Modifications in DesignA flip-up headlight unit with a flat panel has replaced the circular LED headlight on the stock XSR 155. The fuel tank is flanked by metallic wings projected downwards extending towards the radiator, making the bike look edgy. It also features a metallic bash plate underneath the engine casing with a similar wing design.Tail section of the bike has been left exposed, giving it a unique floating look. Further, the contoured seat has been replaced by a flat seat with a pointed rear end. The stock single-port upswept exhaust has been replaced by a dual-port unit also encased under in a metal plate and placed under the seat.Upfront, the workshop has installed a flat track-style handlebar accompanied by downward hanging bar-end mirrors. The bike rolls on custom alloy wheels with a neon green rim lining that are shod with Pirelli radial tubeless tyres. The combination of aluminium and piano black finish accentuates the futuristic appeal of this custom-built XSR 155.Equipment on offerIn terms of equipment, this flat track concept gets a small round digital LCD instrument cluster whereas, as mentioned earlier, engine and hardware setup of the stock bike has been retained in this modified concept. The latter includes the same suspension and barking configurations. Powering the motorcycle is a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor with VVA technology that produces 19 bhp and 14.7 Nm of peak torque. More

2022 Yamaha MT15 Launch Soon – New Features, Bluetooth Update

2022 Yamaha MT15 Facelift to get Bluetooth / updatesUpdates for MT15 will be mostly borrowed from Yamaha R15 V4 that was launched last year in September
One of the popular entry-level performance-oriented bikes in the country, Yamaha MT15 will soon be updated with new features. This was expected as MT15 and R15 V4 are essentially the same at their core. The difference between the bikes comes primarily from their styling and riding ergonomics.
    2022 Yamaha MT15 expected updates
One of the key updates will be a new digital instrument panel with Bluetooth-based connectivity features. This is likely to be the same as that of R15 V4. It displays a range of information such as traction control on/off, gear position, gear shift timing indicator, Track/Street mode, lap timings, average mileage, average speed, coolant temperature, etc.
Users can pair their smartphones with the console using Y-Connect app. Once connected, the instrument cluster screen will display info such as call alert, SMS and email notification, phone battery level and app connectivity status.
On Y-Connect app, users can access a range of info such as fuel consumption tracker, last parking location, revs dashboard, malfunction notification, maintenance recommendations and ride analytics. Basic idea is to improve overall experience, ensure proper bike care & maintenance and possibly help users improve their riding skills.
2021 Yamaha MT-15 Monster Energy Moto GP Edition
Another key update for MT15 will be USD forks at front. In its current form, the bike is offered with standard telescopic forks. Rear linked-type monocross suspension will be the same as current model. USD forks significantly enhance ride dynamics by ensuring better control and handling at high speed, cornering and during braking. USD forks on R15 V4 are offered in a golden finish.
Dual-channel ABS is another feature that could be introduced for MT-15. As of now, the bike is offered with single-channel ABS. Braking duties are performed by 282 mm disc at front and 220 mm disc at rear. The bike has 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with 100/80 front and 140/70 wide rear tyre.
Yamaha could introduce some style updates for MT-15, but much of it will be the same as current model. The bike makes a sporty, aggressive stance with features such as bi-functional LED headlights, blacked-out elements, sculpted fuel tank, rugged engine guard, chrome-tipped exhaust, uni-level seat with grab bar and raised LED tail light.
    Yamaha MT15 engine
Engine will be same as current model, a 155cc, liquid cooled, SOHC, 4-valve unit. It generates 18.5 ps of max power at 10,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a constant mesh 6-speed gearbox.
Other features such as variable valve actuation (VVA) and assist and slipper clutch (ASC) will be same. VVA ensures that desired power and torque is available throughout the rev range. ASC reduces driver fatigue by minimizing force required for clutch pull and ensuring smooth downshifts. MT15 is currently available in the range of Rs 1.47 lakh to Rs 1.50 lakh. Updated 2022 MT15 could get costlier by up to Rs 10k.

International-spec Yamaha MT15. Image for reference
Upon its launch, the new generation Yamaha MT15 could be priced at a premium of Rs 10,000 over the current model
Yamaha updated its entry-level supersport bike R15 earlier last month which has generally received positive reviews from all corners. The bike received plenty of updates on the skin and some crucial ones underneath as well. Now, the Japanese bikemaker is planning to carry forward these updates on the naked version of R15.
Yamaha could soon launch an updated MT15 which will carry a similar range of updates as seen in the recently launched R15 V4. Underneath their skin, both R15 and MT15 are essentially the same bikes with stark differences in their top hat and riding ergonomics.
    Updated Design Expected
In its current form, MT15 gets a transformer-style front look with air scoops, a sculpted fuel tank with extensions, a single-pod LED projector headlamp with twin LED DRLs at front, a wide handlebar and a petite tail section. There could be slight variations in terms of styling in the upcoming model but exact details have not yet surfaced.
MT15 is also available in a special MotoGP Monster Energy Edition which is the range-topping variant of the motorcycle. It features cosmetic enhancements which are inspired by Yamaha’s MotoGP motorcycle along with Monster Energy branding which is the principal sponsor of Team Blue at the premiere championship. The special edition model wears a black paint scheme along with Monster Energy branding on the fuel tank and logo on tank extensions.

    Yamaha MT15 R15 V4 Based – Hardware & Features
The major and more crucial updates will be underneath its skin which would involve an updated powertrain and hardware setup. The most notable inclusion will be upside-down front forks which will offer sportier credentials to the new MT-15.
The golden-coloured front forks will also add to the visual appeal of the motorcycle in addition to more confidence to riders. Rear suspension duties will be handled by a mono-shock. Anchorage will be taken care of by disc brakes at both ends complemented by dual-channel ABS as standard.
Yamaha is also likely to add a couple of features to the updated MT-15 such as a quick-shifter, traction control and a revised fully digital LCD instrument console compatible with Yamaha’s Y-Connect connectivity feature and Bluetooth.
Powering MT-15 will be the same engine as its fully clothed sibling R15 V4. The 155cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. The VVA motor kicks out 18.2 bhp and 14.1 Nm of peak torque. Yamaha is yet to confirm the launch timeline of updated MT15. It could be planned for launch later this year or sometime next year. More

Yamaha MT15 Prices Increased For April 2021 – New Price List

Yamaha MT15After the latest price revision, Yamaha MT15 is retailed between Rs 1,40,900 and Rs 1,44,900 (both ex-showroom)
In this period of price revisions in automotive products, Yamaha has already increased prices of two models in its lineup. At the start of a new financial year in April, the Japanese bikemaker increased prices of YZF R15 V3.0 and FZS. However, unlike other OEMs, the hike in prices is comparatively very low by Yamaha.
    MT-15 Revised Prices
The company has done the same with MT15 which has received a marginal price hike of Rs 1,000 across its lineup. Prices of the naked streetfighter vary according to the different colour options available. It is offered in three colour schemes- Dark Matte Blue, Metallic Blue and Ice Fluo-vermillion along with Customise Your Warrior which lets one choose from multiple paint schemes.
Yamaha MT 15 April 2021 Price
Yamaha has been enjoying a decent run in the market with MT-15 as the naked streetfighter managed to rake in 6,176 units for the Japanese bikemaker in February this year. Post this latest revision in prices of MT-15 range from Rs 1,40,900 to Rs 1,44,900 (both prices ex-showroom).
    Powertrain Specs
The naked motorcycle derives its power from a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled 4-valve motor that returns an output of 18.4 bhp and 14.1 Nm of peak torque. This unit is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox.
    Yamaha MT15 Customization
This exact same powertrain is also found on the faired YZF R15 with the same output. However, a shorter drive ratio of the gearbox than the faired superbike thanks to a larger rear sprocket makes the ultra naked street racer a tad quicker while commuting.
    Hardware & Features
Speaking of its hardware, it is built on the same deltabox frame as R15 that is suspended on telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock unit at rear. However, unlike R15 which gets an aluminium swingarm, the rear swingarm used on MT15 is a steel box-type.
Stopping duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends assisted by a single-channel ABS. Like R15, the 155cc motor in MT-15 comes with Variable Valve Actuation that allows peak engine performance at higher revs without having to compromise on low- and mid-range grunt.
In terms of features, it gets a full LED lighting setup with an LED headlight, taillight and DRLs. It is equipped with a fully digital instrument console but with a negative display and also misses out on Mobile as well as Bluetooth connectivity. It rivals the likes of KTM 125 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar NS160. Recent spy shots suggest that Yamaha is also planning to introduce a naked roadster version in the segment called XSR 150 at some stage. More

2021 Yamaha MT15 With New Attire Launched In Thailand

    2021 Yamaha MT15
International-spec MT-15 features an inverted front fork and an aluminium swingarm instead of conventional telescopic front forks and a box-section swingarm

Yamaha has launched its entry-level naked streetfighter MT-15 in Thailand with new colour schemes which resemble its bigger, meaner and more powerful sibling MT-09. To be specific, the 2021 MT-15 is now offered in three paint options including Racing Blue, Matt Black and Metallic Gray.
The good thing though, the Japanese bikemaker hasn’t increased the prices of the bike and is still offered at a price of THB 98,500 (equivalent to INR 2.38 lakh). All three colour variants feature the brand’s signature slanted stripes on its fuel tank like MT-09. And also sports the large MT logo on its tank shrouds.
    Difference between India-spec, Thai-spec MT-15
One can also notice colour-coded stripes on its tail section too which are nicely complemented by colour-coded stripes on the wheel rims. This visual accentuates the sporty appeal of the naked motorcycle. In India though, consumers get Ice Fluo Vermillion, Dark Matte Blue and Metallic black as colour schemes. However, Indian customers get customisation options that let one opt from as many as eleven colour combinations.
The Thai-spec model although comes with superior underpinnings. Its hardware setup features a more premium upside-down USD front suspension finished in golden colour along with an aluminium swingarm.
    2021 Yamaha MT15
The India-spec model, on the other hand, sadly gets conventional telescopic forks at front and a box-section swingarm. Other features on offer in the Indian model include LED headlamps, LED taillights, a digital speedometer, disc brakes on both ends and single-channel ABS.
    Powertrain Specs
MT-15 in Thailand comes with the same powertrain as the Indian version which features a Euro-5/BS6 compliant 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled four-valve motor. This unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch and returns an output of 18.5 bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.7 Nm of peak torque at 8500rpm. The bike shares its underpinning, hardware and engine with its faired cousin R-15.
    Other Yamaha Models
Yamaha has been busy launching updated products in Thailand. A few days ago, the Japanese brand launched its premium Maxi-styled scooter named Aerox 155. As the name suggests, it derives its power from the same 155cc engine which also drives MT-15 and R15.
    2021 Yamaha MT15
Although, in Aerox this unit is slightly detuned and churns out 15.4 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Equipped with electronic fuel injection (EFI), this unit is linked to a traditional V-belt CVT to carry out transmission duties.
The Japanese manufacturer has also registered a new trademark with the name FZ-X which is speculated to be the company’s upcoming adventure motorcycle in India. It is likely to be underpinned by the same platform as its quarter-litre sibling FZ25 and FZS25 and hence it is expected to be powered by the same 249cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. More

  • BS6 Yamaha MT-15 Prices Hiked For Second Time

Yamaha India has updated price of their street motorcycle MT15
BS6 compliant Yamaha MT-15 has now undergone another price hike, which makes it the second one in a short while. A smile price revision was first announced in May 2020, following which, MT-15 was dearer by Rs 1,000, and listed at a price of Rs 1,38,900 for Black and Blue colour options, whereas the Vermillion colour cost Rs 1,39,900.

This time, price has been further increased by Rs 1,000. With this second increment, MT-15 is now offered at a starting price of Rs 1,39,900 for base variant, whereas top-spec variant costs Rs 1,40,900.
While no reason has been cited for price increase, it can be attributed to quickly changing market conditions, economic factors, and increase in input costs which have been closely effected since launch of the BS6 compliant bike in March 2020.

In its latest iteration, Yamaha MT-15 features a side-stand engine inhibitor, which prevents the engine from starting when side stand has not been pulled up, ensuring added safety. A rear radial tyre is standard offering. The BS6 compliant bike isn’t altered for design from its pre-updated version. Signature bi-functional LED headlamps make for a prominent front face. LED tail lamps complement the light in design element.
    Features
A beefy fuel tank, and muscular body panels further accentuate the bike’s ‘badass’ element. Side-mounted exhaust pipe enhances sportiness. Equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster with negative display, MT-15 is offered with a single-channel ABS and a box-type swingarm. Braking duties are carried out by a 282mm disc in front, and 220mm disc at the rear. MT15 features a dual-channel ABS and an aluminium swingarm.
There are no changes in specifications or features of the naked street motorcycle. MT-15 continues to derive power from a 155cc single-cylinder engine coupled with a 6-speed gearbox and assist and slipper clutch. Capable of producing 8.5 PS of power at 1000 rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 8500 rpm, output figures saw a minuscule drop in comparison to its BS4 predecessor. In related news, Yamaha India has started online sales of the MT15, along with R15, FZ25, FZ FI and FZS FI.
    MT-15 Limited Edition

2020 Yamaha MT 15 Limited Edition
The Limited Edition Yamaha MT-15 has been showcased at Bangkok Motor Show a few weeks earlier. It sports new liveries with an interesting teal blue paint job, accompanied by a neon yellow finish for the wheels. Apart from paint job updates, it doesn’t vary from the standard variant. In India, Yamaha MT-15 directly competes with KTM Duke 125, which is offered at a price tag of Rs 1,42,266 (ex-sh). More
