TVS Jupiter Price Hike Dec 2021While there’s no official statement, latest round of price increase for TVS Jupiter is likely due to rising input costs
TVS Jupiter is among the bestselling scooters in the country and the top selling product in the company’s portfolio. It primarily competes with Honda Activa 6G. Jupiter prices have been increased multiple times this year including in January, April, and August. In the latest round of price hike, all variants of Jupiter 110 have become costlier by around Rs 600.
TVS Jupiter 110 new prices December 2021
Base variant of Jupiter 110 is the one that comes with sheet metal wheel. It now costs Rs 66,273. Next is standard variant, which is now available at Rs 69,298. Moving up, prices of ZX (drum brake) and ZX (disc brake) have been increased to Rs 72,773 and Rs 76,573, respectively. Top-spec Classic variant is available at Rs 76,543.
Jupiter 110 recent price hike doesn’t come as a surprise, as most two-wheeler manufacturers have increased prices across the range multiple times this year. In most cases, such price hikes were attributed to rising input costs.
As may be recalled, global supply chain network has been severally impacted due to Covid-19 pandemic. As demand picked up again, there was significant shortage of auto components. This resulted in increased input costs for manufacturers.
Jupiter 125 prices have not been changed
Another reason for rising input costs is the transition to stricter fuel emission norms. This is being deployed at several locations across the globe. There’s increased demand for catalytic converters, a key component used to reduce emissions to mandated standards such as BS6 / Euro 5.

No changes have been introduced for Jupiter 110 with the latest round of price hike. With its simple, elegant design, the scooter is a perfect fit for everyday commutes and errands. Some key features include LED headlamp, classy front apron, sturdy metal body, large comfy seat, and thick grab rail. A total of eleven colour options are on offer, which vary based on the variant.
The scooter is especially designed for optimal comfort and convenience. It has a large flat floorboard, which can be used to carry a wide variety of cargo such as groceries, bags, luggage items, cartons, etc.
The scooter also offers decent amount of storage space under the seat. This space is more secure as it can be locked with the key. There’s storage space at front as well along with mobile charging port. Other key features include all-in-one lock, trendy speedometer, foldable rear-view mirrors, dual bag hooks, external fuel filling and an easy-to-use centre stand.
TVS Jupiter 110 is powered by a 109.7 cc motor that generates 7.77 hp of max power at 7,500 rpm and 8.8 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. It is mated to a CVT automatic gearbox. The scooter has telescopic front suspension and 3-step adjustable coil spring with hydraulic damper at rear. First launched in Sep 2013, TVS Jupiter has managed to generate sales of over 45 lakh till date. It is among the best selling scooter on sale in India since its launch. Until now, it was only offered with a 110cc engine option. Today, TVS Motor has launched Jupiter 125cc option.
TVS has launched a 125cc iteration of Jupiter that has been priced at Rs 73,400 ex-sh. This is about the same starting price as rival Honda Activa 125, which is priced from Rs 73,200 to Rs 80k. All prices are ex-sh.
Prior to this launch, Jupiter was available as a 110cc scooter and has been the brand’s highest-selling two-wheeler for a long time. With the launch of Jupiter 125, it joins a long list of 125cc scooters such as Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access and others.
Last month, TVS marked its re-entry into the 125cc segment of motorcycles with the launch of Raider which has generally received positive reviews. Earlier, the company also shared a couple of teasers of the new Jupiter 125 which had nothing significant to reveal barring a pair of LED DRLs.

Styling
Speaking of its design, the new 125cc Jupiter is almost identical to its 110cc sibling except for a few subtle variations. The most prominent are reshaped turn indicators mounted on the front apron.
Complemented by new, sharper LED DRLs, front face of the scooter looks more aggressive in this iteration. It boasts signature commuter scooter styling elements such as a single-piece saddle with a grab rail for pillion, alloy wheels and headlamp clusters on the handlebar.
Features on offer
For further differentiation, TVS will be offering some new colour schemes with its latest offering. In addition, new features such as a digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity could be added to the equipment of Jupiter 125. TVS is also expected to launch a top-spec trim of Jupiter 125 that will be offered with TVS Smart Xonnect connectivity platform which offers around 60 connectivity features.

Some of the features offered by Xonnect connectivity suite include SMS/call alerts, last parking location, real-time mileage indicator, onboard navigation and lots more. Other features on offer are LED headlight and taillight, USB charger and external fuel filler cap in front, etc.
Specifications
Jupiter 125 will draw its power from the same 124.8cc, 3-valve single-cylinder engine that is offered in Ntorq. However, unlike Ntorq, Jupiter 125 is offered with an ETFI (Eco Thrust Fuel injector) instead of an RTFI for better fuel efficiency. TVS claims that Jupiter 125 is the most powerful and fuel efficient scooter in the segment. It has the quickest acceleration as well.

Suspension duties on Jupiter 125 are taken care of by telescopic forks up front and coil springs with hydraulic dampers at rear. Braking hardware comprises drum brakes as standard at both ends with the option of a disc brake at front. After Raider 125cc motorcycle, TVS is gearing up to launch its next product. It is likely to be all-new Jupiter 125, a more powerful and better equipped version of existing Jupiter 110cc scooter. Launch date is set for 7th Oct 2021.
With new Jupiter, TVS will have two products in 125cc scooter segment. While Ntorq is preferred for its superior styling and sporty performance, Jupiter 125 will be more suited for practical, everyday needs.
TVS Jupiter 125 styling and features
To ensure a distinct identity, Jupiter 125 will utilize a new set of styling bits. Components like headlamp, LED DRLs, rear view mirrors, side panels, grab rails, and tail light are expected to be entirely new. Only a limited set of design elements are expected to be borrowed from Jupiter 110.
New colour options are expected to be made available for all-new Jupiter 125. The existing 110cc Jupiter is available in more than a dozen colour options. Ones that really stand out include Titanium Grey, Matte Blue, Volcano Red, Midnight Black, Pristine White, Royal Wine and Indi Blue. Available colour options are based on the chosen variant. To match features available with rival scooters in this segment, TVS could introduce things like digital instrument console, USB charger and Bluetooth connectivity for new Jupiter 125. Existing Jupiter 110 is equipped with an analogue instrument console. As it will primarily be positioned as a utilitarian scooter, Jupiter 125 will have ample under seat storage. For reference, Jupiter 110 offers 21-litres of under seat storage. This is good enough for a full-sized helmet.
It is possible that TVS Smart Xonnect connectivity platform could be introduced with Jupiter 125. This feature is already offered with Ntorq. A number of advanced features can be accessed via Smart Xonnect such as navigation assist, caller ID, last parked location assist, ride stats, and remote backlit illumination control. Overall, around 60 connectivity features are available through this platform. Smart Xonnect could be introduced with top-spec variants of all-new Jupiter 125.
TVS Jupiter 125 engine and specs
It is likely that Jupiter 125 will borrow its engine from Ntorq. For Ntorq, the engine is tuned differently based on the variant. For standard variants, the engine is tuned to deliver 9.38 ps of max power and 10.5 Nm of peak torque. For Race XP variant, the numbers increase to 10.2 ps / 10.8 Nm. Race XP variant is the first 125cc scooter in the country to deliver more than 10 hp power.
TVS Jupiter 125cc LED DRLs
As Jupiter 125 will likely target improved fuel economy, its power and torque output could be less than Ntorq. For this, Jupiter 125 will use an ET fuel injector and not the Race Tuned Fuel injector (RT FI). Suspension system will comprise telescopic fork at front and monoshock unit at rear.
