    KTM India Sales Feb 2023 – Duke, RC, 125, 200, 250, 390 ADV

    Total sales for KTM in the month of February 2023 stood at 14,509 units with 54.86% YoY growth and 29.79% MoM growth2023 KTM 390 ADVKTM has had a rather fruitful month during February 2023 where sales are concerned. In exports, KTM registered a strong 8,666 units. When compared to 5,016 units it shipped a year ago and 6,982 units it shipped a month before, KTM saw 72.77% YoY growth and 24.12% MoM growth as opposed to January 2023.KTM Domestic and Exports – Feb 2023KTM 390 series (Duke + RC + ADV) stormed the exports charts taking the top spot with 5,056 units shipped, accounting for 58.34% of total exports. A staggering 158.62% YoY growth and 15.86% MoM growth was observed, with 3,101 units and 692 units gained in volume YoY and MoM. In 2nd place, surprisingly, we have 125 series with 1,578 units shipped.KTM Domestic Sales Breakup Feb 2023Even though 125s (Duke + RC) saw 892.45% YoY growth, MoM analysis revealed a 27.21% decline, with 590 units lost in volume, accounting for 18.21% of KTM’s total domestic sales. Close to it is 200 series (Duke + RC) with 40.03% YoY decline and an astounding 3209% MoM growth. Lastly, we have 250s (Duke + ADV) with just 642 units shipped, registering 9.93% YoY growth and 57.35% MoM growth.In domestic market, KTM’s popular products have been the 200 series. That was true in February as well. 200s sold 3,254 units last month with 40.38% YoY growth as opposed to 2,318 units sold a year ago and 53.64% MoM growth as opposed to 2,118 units sold a month before. 200s hold 55.69% of total domestic sales for KTM.KTM India domestic sales market share Feb 2023At 2nd place, we have 250 series with 1,650 units sold, accounting for 28.24% of KTM’s total domestic sales. There was a 15.79% YoY growth and 41.03% MoM growth. Next in line is 390 series with 629 units sold. This class of motorcycles has had a paradigm shift with 1555% YoY growth as opposed to just 38 units sold last year.KTM Exports Breakup Feb 2023Unlike gaining 2nd spot in exports, 125 series don’t really sell in India owing to their value proposition (or the lack thereof). With just 310 units sold, a 45.8% YoY decline and 154.1% MoM growth was observed. In total, KTM sold 5,843 units in India. As opposed to 4,353 units sold a year ago and 4,197 units sold a month before, KTM registered 34.23% YoY growth and 39.22% MoM growth with 1,490 units and 1,646 units gained in volume YoY and MoM respectively.KTM India exports market share Feb 2023KTM Total Sales Feb 2023In total (domestic+exports), KTM sold 14,509 units in February 2023. As opposed to 9,369 units sold in February 2022 and 11,179 units sold in January 2023, KTM registered 54.86% YoY growth and 29.79% MoM growth. Volume growth stood at 5,140 units YoY and 3,330 units MoM. Topping the charts is 390 series with 5,685 units comprising of Duke, Adventure and RC ranges.KTM India Total sales Feb 2023A 185.25% YoY growth and 10.37% MoM growth was observed when compared to 1,993 units sold a year ago and 5,151 units sold a month before. Volume growth stood at 3,692 units YoY and 534 units MoM, accounting for 39.18% of KTM’s total sales. Next in line is 200 range with 4,644 units clocked in their name. With barely managing a 0.17% YoY growth and 115% MoM growth, this class had a 32.01% market share.KTM India (sales + exports) market share Feb 2023At 3rd place is 250s with 2,292 units sold last month. There was a 14.09% YoY growth and 45.25% MoM growth as well, accounting for 15.8% of total sales. Lastly, we have the smallest displacement of the bunch, which is 125s with 1,888 units sold. Mountain Dew–Flavored DramamineExploring the supremely detailed interiors that Polyphony Digital has developed for Sony’s driving sim is like seeing color television for the first time. You can’t help but let out an audible “oh my God” and quickly forget what Gran Turismo 7 was like without it. It’s seriously that good. The change of perspective while wearing the PS VR2 headset is major. It’s a lot of fun but doesn’t feel like playing a game; it feels exceptionally real.A word of caution: sometimes things can get a little too real, so take it slow. Especially if you’re new to VR. Don’t put the headset on and expect to stomach an hour of intense driving at the Nürburgring in a GT3 race car. We tried that, paying the price of nearly revisiting our Taco Bell lunch. The PS5 DualSense does its best to imitate brake fade and pedal feel through adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Even without a racing wheel, we’d argue the dynamic perspective helped us improve our lap times. The combination of the force feedback in the PS VR2 headset with the PS5 DualSense adaptive triggers is a gift to gamers without the money or space to park a bucket seat and steering wheel in their living room.Sony PlayStation VR2 BundleSony PlayStation VR2 BundleThis heightened sense of simulation doesn’t come cheap. The PS VR2 currently retails for $549. That’s $150 more than the PlayStation 5 console required to use it, or $50 more if you purchase the more expensive PS5 that comes with a disc drive. Buying a bundle could add hundreds to that price. If watching that much money go toward video games gives you motion sickness, we should point out it’s a cheaper alternative to a sim rig that uses a direct-drive steering wheel and pedals. Another neat trick with the PS VR2 headset; you aren’t required to face the television, even if you’re using a full-on rig. Just create a play space as far as the headset’s 14.7-foot cord will reach and get racing.Incredible Hardware with Few Choices The PS VR2 headset isn’t the first VR experience in the competitive world of sim racing, but it’s a first for the Gran Turismo series. Popular racing games such as Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, rFactor, and Dirt Rally 2.0 unlocked virtual reality long before Sony’s new hardware launched earlier this year. Those racing sims, each have their own range of virtual reality headset options, much of which takes place on PC instead.Sony’s library of PS VR2 compatible games, outside of our own obvious favorite, still leaves a lot to be desired. Horizon: Call of the Mountain takes full advantage of the headset OLED screens with beautifully-rendered environments in an action-packed story. The space explorer No Man’s Sky is a different adventure worth checking out, one that delivers clever use of the headset and controller’s haptic feedback. As TVS new electric two-wheelers will be in range of 5kW to 25kW, a new mid-mounted motor is being developed. A recent patent filing has revealed some interesting details about the new electric powertrain.A simple transmission system has been used to connect the mid-mounted motor to the rear wheel. A unique aspect is that the transmission casing doubles up as the swingarm. This is likely to help reduce the overall weight of the intended electric two-wheeler. At the motor’s end, the casing is linked to a pivot. At the wheel end, the casing supports the rear axle.TVS Jupiter Electric Scooter Patent LeaksA drive gear transfers power from the motor to the rear wheel. TVS has termed it as an ‘endless transmission drive’. The patent mentions the possibility of using either a chain drive or a belt drive. As compared to the hub motor where the motor and wheel spin at the same speed, this new powertrain is characterized by a speed reduction ratio. It means that the speed at which the motor and rear wheel spin will be different.TVS new electric powertrain vs rivalsMid-mounted motors are preferred for vehicles with higher power output. Similar systems are already in use with electric scooters like Ather 450X and Ola S1 Pro. TVS will probably be looking to create a new range of performance-oriented electric two-wheelers with this new powertrain. For reference, iQube has a 4.4 kW setup that achieves 0-40 kmph in just 4.2 seconds.TVS Jupiter electric with the new mid-mounted motor will deliver a better overall ride experience. It will rival the upcoming Honda Activa electric scooter, which is planned for launch in Jan 2024. In the petrol scooter segment, Activa and Jupiter are the top 2 selling scooters in India. The rivalry is likely to continue in the EV era too.With its new electric models, TVS will be able to target a wider customer base.     Top 10 200cc to 500cc Motorcycles Feb 2023 – Bullet, Hunter, Pulsar, Dominar

    In February 2023, YoY growth was reported for bikes in the 200-500cc segment though MoM sales declined marginallyRoyal Enfield Bullet 350Following our earlier report on top 10 150cc to 200cc motorcycles sold in Feb 2023 which saw YoY growth of 20.03 percent, we now list out the bikes in the 200-500cc range and their performance in the past month. Motorcycle sales in the 200-500cc range stood at 76,449 units in Feb 2023. This was a 21.64 percent YoY growth over 62,847 units sold in Feb 2022. MoM sales however, dipped by 1 percent from 77,223 units sold in Jan 2023. It was however, significant growth over 65,652 units sold in December 2022.200 cc to 500cc Motorcycles Sales Feb 2023 – Royal Enfield Motorcycles DominateRoyal Enfield’s 350cc series bikes claimed top 5 positions on the list of best-selling motorcycles in the 200-500cc segment. Topping the list and that too by a significant margin was RE Classic 350. Sales stood at 27,461 units in Feb 2023, down 8.71 percent from 30,082 units sold in Feb 2022. It was however, a MoM growth of 5.08 percent over 26,134 units sold in Jan 2023. Market share improved from 33.84 percent to 35.92 percent MoM.200cc – 500cc Motorcycle Sales Feb 2023 vs Feb 2022 – YoY performanceRE Hunter 350, a recent entrant to the company lineup commanded a No. 2 spot on this list. Sales stood at 12,925 units in the past month, a MoM de-growth of 22.02 percent from 16,574 units sold in Jan 2023. It was followed by the Bullet 350 with a YoY growth in sales to 8,232 units, up 27.99 percent from 6,432 units sold in Feb 2022. MoM sales dipped 15 percent from 9,685 units sold in Jan 2023. This took the share percentage down from 12.54 percent to 10.77 percent MoM.No. 4 and 5 spots were also from the RE stables with the Meteor and Electra. Meteor 350cc sales dipped YoY and MoM to 6,698 units in Feb 2023 down 0.76 percent from 6,749 units sold in Feb 2022 and down 12.12 percent from 7,622 units sold in Jan 2023. Electra 350cc on the other hand posted both YoY and MoM growth to 5,109 units in Feb 2023. This was a 49.12 percent YoY and 21.41 percent MoM growth to command a 6.68 percent market share.200cc to 500cc Motorcycle sales market share report – Feb 2023Bajaj Auto broke the RE stronghold with the Pulsar 220/250 which has seen a 95.52 percent YoY increase in sales. Sales which had stood at 2,475 units in Feb 2022 increased to 4,839 units in Feb 2023. MoM sales also saw a spurt of 987.42 percent from just 445 units sold in Jan 2023. Market share went up to 6.33 percent from 0.58 percent MoM. RE Himalayan sales dipped 4.57 percent YoY but increased 13.69 percent MoM to 2,841 units. It was followed by the KTM 250 that posted YoY and MoM growth in sales to 1,650 units while also seeing its market share improve to 2.16 percent from 1.52 percent MoM.Dominar 400 also found increased demand in markets in the past month with sales at 701 units up 111.78 percent YoY from 331 units sold in Feb 2022. MoM sales improved by 19.62 percent from 586 units sold in Jan 2023. The list also included KTM 390 with 629 units sold last month, a 1555.26 percent YoY growth from just 38 units sold in Feb 2022. MoM sales however dipped 5.84 percent from 616 units sold in Jan 2023. Dominar 250 had 580 units sold last month.Sales in sub-500 unit range Feb 2023 – 200cc to 500cc segmentThe list also saw some motorcycles in the 200-500cc range that failed to cross sales above 500 units in Feb 2023. These included the Avenger 220 (377 units), Apache 310 (374 units), Hness CB350 (319 units) and Suzuki Gixxer 250 (228 units). Out of these, Avenger 220 was the only motorcycle to record a YoY and MoM increase in sales.200cc – 500cc Motorcycle Sales Feb 2023 vs Jan 2023 – MoM performanceLower down the order was also Ninja 300 with a 41.56 percent YoY decline in sales but 60.87 percent growth on a MoM basis to 148 units in Feb 2023. It was followed by the FZ25 with a 51.22 percent YoY decline in sales to 120 units from 246 units sold in Feb 2022 while MoM sales fell by 88.24 percent. At Nos. 19 and 20 were Husqvarna 250 (40 units) and Ninja (22 units). 0 unit sales were recorded for the V-Strom, CB399R and CB500 while Jawa/Yezdi (retails) stood at 3,156 units, down 8.15 percent YoY and 11.65 percent MoM from 3,436 units sold in Feb 2022 and 3,572 units sold in Jan 2023 respectively.     Hyundai/Kia Develop a Robot for Hands-Free EV Charging

    Plenty of ideas exist to eliminate the trouble of plugging an EV into a heavy charging cable. From wireless pads to robot arms, people have been working on this technology for a while now.Hyundai Motor Group is the latest to investigate human-free EV charging tech and will display its new Automatic Charging Robot at the Seoul Mobility Show that starts next week.Using a built-in laser, cameras, AI wheels, and a movable arm, the ACR can—with the right EV—make charging your Ioniq 6 as easy as pushing a button on the key fob.As simple as it can be to charge an electric vehicle at a known location like home or work, it could always be easier. WiTricity is working on wireless EV charging and has been for a decade. In 2015, Tesla showed a video of a metal “snake” that could plug a charging cable into an EV automatically. Ram is working on an inductive charging robot for its upcoming electric truck. This month in Seoul, Hyundai and Kia will display the latest of these automated charging technologies, this one called ACR. HyundaiThe Automatic Charging Robot is somewhat similar to Tesla’s metal snake, but it is more advanced. The snake had a proprietary Tesla connector built in, while the Hyundai Motor Group’s ACR instead has a hand that can hold different plugs. Granted, most of the time, it will use a J1772 or CCS connector, but it’s good to see this kind of forward-thinking compatibility. In fact, HMG designed the ACR to operate in any environment, “regardless of charger location, weather and potential obstacles,” the company said. It’s a waterproof and dustproof (IP65 rated) robot that uses a stationary safety pole with a built-in laser sensor installed in the ground nearby to warn the robot when it might run into a stationary or moving obstacle.HyundaiHyundaiThis is the “isn’t it fabulous” version of how the ACR is supposed to work. You park your car where it will charge up—or simply nearby, if the EV can then park itself—and tell the system to initialize charging from the key fob. The car that the ACR is attempting to charge up has to have a charging port door that can open without human interaction, and the ACR communicates with the car to open it up. The wheeled ACR then moves closer to the car and uses a 3D-camera-based artificial intelligence algorithm to determine where the charging plug is and extends the cable to the port.     Honda 2W Sales Breakup Feb 2023 – Activa, CB Shine, Dio, Unicorn

    In February 2023, Honda two wheeler sales fell YoY both in domestic markets as well as where exports were concernedImage – Gyani EnoughHonda has reported a de-growth both in terms of domestic sales and exports in the past month.  Sales in February 2023 saw YoY de-growth in domestic markets to the extent of 20.52 percent to 2,27,084 units. This was against 2,85,706 units sold in Feb 2022 with volume de-growth at 58,622 units. Exports also remained in the red, down 25.36 percent to 20,111 units in Feb 2023. There had been 26,944 units exported in Feb 2022 relating to a volume de-growth of 6,833 units.Honda 2W Sales Breakup Feb 2023 – Activa Share At 77%In domestic markets, it was the Honda Activa that not only received the most attention, it was the only model in the company lineup to see positive sales growth. Sales stood at 1,74,503 units in Feb 2023, up 20.08 percent as against 1,45,317 units sold in Feb 2022. The Activa commands a 76.85 percent share in this list. It was the Activa that was also the best-selling scooter in the country in Feb 2023, with sales way above that of TVS Jupiter and Suzuki Access.Honda 2W Sales Breakup Feb 2023At No. 2 was the Honda CB Shine. Sales fell 56.43 percent YoY to 35,594 units in Feb 2023 from 81,700 units sold in Feb 2022. Sales de-growth was also reported for the Dio scooter by 6.44 percent to 14,489 units while sales of the Unicorn fell by 89.55 percent to 1,339 units in the past month.With only 471 units of the Honda Dream sold last month, it was a 96.96 percent YoY de-growth from 15,476 units sold in Feb 2022. Sales stood at 8,783 units in Feb 2023, a YoY growth of 13.08 percent when compared to 7,767 units sold in Feb 2022. The Navi scooter commands a 43.67 percent share.  It was followed by the Dio scooter at No. 2 with a 36.68 percent YoY de-growth to 3,434 units in Feb 2023, down from 5,423 units sold in Feb 2022. This was a 1,989 unit volume dip in exports while the Dio commands a 17.08 percent share.Honda noted increased demand for the Unicorn 150 from export markets. Exports surged 1700 percent to 2,160 units in Feb 2023, up from just 120 units sold in Feb 2022. Honda CB Shine and X-Blade suffered YoY de-growth of 73.47 percent and 74.55 percent to 1,020 units and 796 units respectively in Feb 2023. The Regera on BaT is one of 80 copies Koenigsegg built from 2016 to 2021, and this example cost $3,277,636 when new—including more than $1 million in options.Its plug-in-hybrid powertrain consists of three electric motors and a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V-8 that combine for 1500 horsepower (or about 1757 hp with E85 gas).Car and DriverLet’s get this straight: I can’t afford to bid on a multimillion-dollar hypercar like the 2021 Koenigsegg Regera that’s currently being auctioned off on Bring a Trailer, which—like Car and Driver—is owned by Hearst Autos. Heck, I can hardly afford to bid on most machines on BaT. With that said, I still log countless hours fantasizing about what I’d buy if I could.Bring a TrailerFor obvious reasons, this brightly colored Swedish exotic caught my eye. Its delightfully ’90s-esque custom paint is called Candy Liquid Blue. It features gold-painted accents that match myriad components hidden beneath the Regera’s skin. Open its scissor-style doors and climb into a next-level cockpit where most surfaces are either made of exposed carbon fiber or covered in rich, quilted leather. The only things that diminish the meticulously crafted cabin are the fully digital gauge cluster and portrait-oriented touchscreen.Bring a TrailerThe Koenigsegg Regera is one of the wildest plug-in hybrids on the planet. At its heart is a 1100-hp twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8, and that gas-fed engine pairs with three electric motors that altogether make 700 horsepower. However, since the separate systems reach their peak power at different points, the Regera’s total output is 1500 horsepower. That power is funneled through a single-speed transmission, which was designed to save weight and significantly limit the power lost to the driveline. Back in 2019, Koenigsegg set a record for the quickest zero-to-249-mph-to-zero run. It did that in a claimed 31.49 seconds, and we showed you the obligatory YouTube video.Bring a TrailerThis 2021 Regera on Bring a Trailer includes the original Monroney price sticker, which (for most of us below a certain tax bracket) might be the first and only time we’ll be privy to such specific price breakdowns. Right out of the box, Koenigsegg charged just over $2 million for the Regera. After a boatload of “must-have” options, such as the $250K Environmental Power Upgrade (total output rises from 1500 to about 1757 hp when burning E85 gas) and the $285K Ghost package (various aero addenda that provide 20 percent more downforce), the final MSRP came to $3,277,636. The Regera listing still has 10 days left until the bidding ends, and the latest offer is $2.6 million, so there’s still plenty of time for it to meet or exceed its original asking price.
