  • The 2021 Volkswagen Arteon got a fresh look for this year alongside a price increase on the base model.
  • The trim options have been simplified, with the Arteon now being offered with the SE, SEL R-Line, and then the SEL Premium R-Line trim.
  • The 2021 Arteon is expected to reach dealerships later this year.

Volkswagen’s sharp-looking flagship sedan, the Arteon, is getting a price hike to match those updated interior and exterior looks. The 2021 Arteon will start at $38,190, which is a $1175 increase from the outgoing model year. The top of the lineup, the SEL Premium R-Line—which comes standard with Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system—sees its price fall by $525 to $48,190, and the midlevel trim, the SEL R-Line, starts at $44,590, which is a price increase of $1825.

The trim levels have also been simplified for 2021, now coming in just three options, the SE, SEL R-Line, and then the SEL Premium R-Line. Notably, just one of the trim levels doesn’t get the sporty R-Line appearance pieces. Front-wheel drive is standard on the SE and SEL R-Line, but all-wheel drive can be had on the latter.

In the U.S., the Arteon is still powered by just one engine, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 268 horsepower. The 2021 Arteon is expected to reach dealers later this year.
