Most expected launches are Meteor 650, Shotgun 650, Himalayan 450, 450 Scram, Hunter 350, new Bullet 350 and then a new variant of Meteor 350 too.Meteor 350 is one of Royal Enfield’s most popular motorcycles on sale in India. It strikes a right balance between price and performance while offering decent cruise ability too. We had covered this in the past predicting that the new variant of Meteor 350 will be a sportier version like Thunderbird’s X variants. But the new spy shot reveals very little changes to the motorcycle.New Meteor 350X VariantLooking at the spy shot, we are hard pressed to spot any additions or deletions Royal Enfield is going for. But there aren’t any. Everything we see on the new spy shot, already exists on the Meteor 350 that is on sale in India. But when we see closely, the changes start to fall in place.Royal Enfield’s Meteor 350 currently gets 3 variants. Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. Stellar and Supernova get classic colour shades and chrome exhaust to add retro flair. On top of colour differences, Stellar adds a backrest for the pillion and on top of it, Supernova adds a front windscreen. Base Fireball variant gets a sporty appeal with black finish on the entire motorcycle except for the red fuel tank.New Royal Enfield Meteor 350X Variant SpiedIf a customer wants a sporty look, he doesn’t get features like a windscreen and pillion backrest. If they go with these features, the sporty appeal is replaced with retro charm and the chrome bling. There was never a middle ground and that’s where this new variant will come in. In the spy shot, it gets a black rear mudguard, black exhaust and everything like on Fireball but it also gets a pillion backrest. This combination didn’t exist before.New Royal Enfield Meteor 350X can be expected to come with Fireball’s colour scheme along with Supernova’s features like a pillion backrest and a windscreen at front. For the sake of variety, Royal Enfield can also throw in sporty tyres and a slightly stiffened suspension to match the visual sportiness of the Meteor 350.Specs & LaunchThe new variant is expected to be launched in the coming days. We expect some styling changes, new colours and along with it, some new design elements can be deleted or added based on the flavour Royal Enfield is eyeing for.Meteor 350 is a well-sorted package in terms of powertrain and chassis. It is based on the company’s new ‘J’ platform and gets the new 349 cc JD1 engine by Royal Enfield. It makes 20.2 bhp of power at 6100 RPM and a healthy 27 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. This engine is coupled to a 5-speed transmission. The new variant is expected to retain the same powertrain and chassis. When launched, it will lock horns with Honda CB350RS and classic cruisers from Jawa, Benelli Imperiale 400 and Yezdi Roadster.     Hero Motocorp is offering a 5-year standard warranty with Passion Xtec2022 Hero Passion XTECHero MotoCorp has expanded its Xtec lineup by introducing Passion Xtec at a starting price of Rs 74,590 (ex-showroom). Prior to this launch, the Xtec range from Hero comprised four models including Splendor+ XTec, Glamour 125 XTec, Pleasure+ 110 XTec and Destini 125 XTec.The Indian bikemaker is offering Passion Xtec in two variants- drum brake and disc brake, the latter gets a price tag of Rs 78,990 (ex-showroom). This makes it Rs 5,000-6,000 more expensive than base Passion Pro. For the additional premium, the Xtec version of Passion gets plenty of useful features over the standard model.Hero Passion Xtec – Features on offerSpeaking of features, Passion Xtec is laced with amenities like a first-in-class projector LED headlamp, a fully digital instrument cluster with readouts for Real-Time Mileage Indicator, Low-Fuel Indicator and Service Reminder; USB charging port and a side-stand engine cut-off switch.     Hero MotoCorp announces price revision for its range of scooters and motorcycles to the extent of Rs 3,000 wef July 1, 2022New Hero SplendorPrice hikes continue to be a necessary evil. And whether we factor them into spending, they are here to stay. In recent times, there’s been plenty of chatter around increase in prices of LPG, petrol, cooking oil, staples, dining out, flight tickets, and so on. The list is endless and parts of it affect almost everyone.Earlier today, Hero MotoCorp announced a price revision on ex-sh price of its range of motorcycles and scooters. The price hike is effective from July 1, 2022. Price revisions in this instance are subject to model and market. And will be upto a range of Rs 3,000.Overall cost inflationHero MotoCorp attributes the price revision ‘to partially offset the steadily growing overall cost inflation, including commodity prices’. The auto manufacturer dominates the market with its large volume business.With monthly sales surpassing lakhs, this price hike directly affects lakhs of customers. In May 2022, Hero MotoCorp reported domestic sales at 4,66,466 units. To ensure that the financial burden passed onto customers isn’t intimidating, it’s passed onto customers in a phased manner.Hero MotoCorp Sales May 2022However, a range of price revision announcements each year is no longer a phenomenon that surprises. The market has come to accept them, almost as though they’re factored into purchases. To understand why the 2W market is larger than life in India, one only needs to look at the number of total sales reported each month. In May 2022, domestic two-wheeler sales surpassed the 12 lakh unit mark. In comparison, car sales were just shy of the 3 lakh unit mark last month.Having first announced a price revision from early January this year, the company followed it up with a similar announcement for April. Both previous price hikes were capped at 2k each on ex-sh prices. The current rise of 3k isn’t expected to be the last of the year. And the trend puts estimated price revisions through the year to an expected up to Rs 10k or more, specific to model and market.Hero MotoCorp exportsWhile domestic market sales continue to stay in sight of the 5 lakh units monthly goal, the company has been enthusiastic about exports. Earlier in the week, the manufacturer announced the launch of 3 Euro V variants in Turkey. This includes an Xpulse 200 4V motorcycle, and 2 scooters – Dash 110, and 125cc.Though not big on product portfolio in Turkey, the company sees its bikes sold through a network that surpasses 100 touchpoints. Soysal Group has functioned as an exclusive distributor of Hero MotoCorp since 2014. With exports to 40 markets, total exports last month breached the 20k unit mark. More

They have announced a partnership with Hyderabad based Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI). They also handle operations of Benelli and Keeway in India.Moto Morini has a golden eagle as its logo and two M stacked on top of each other honouring founder Alfonso Morini and contributor Mario Mazzetti. Looking at the eagle, one might think that it is an American brand. But no. It is an Italian pedigree motorcycle manufacturer from Milan, Italy.Moto Morini BrandMoto Morini was founded by Alfonso Morini in 1937 in Bologna, Italy. After facing tough times during World War II, Moto Morini has been one of the most successful motorcycle companies in Italy. Ever since its inception, Moto Morini has been extremely active in motorsports. It has had several wins and podiums along its rich heritage competing with other Italian motorcycle brands.After its golden age, it has seen some ownership changes. In 1987, it came under Cagiva and in 1996, it was owned by Texas Pacific Group, who also owned Ducati at that time. In 1999, it was in the hands of Morini Franco Motori Spa, which was founded by Alfonso Morini’s nephew. Franco Morini’s son Maurizio involved the Berti family in the Moto Morini relaunch program.Moto Morini 650cc ADV Motorcycle – X CapeIn 2005, it was reborn with Corsaro 1200 series and 9 1/2 series of motorcycles. It was in 2018 when Moto Morini fell into the ownership of Chinese company Zhongneng Vehicle Group a.k.a. Znen Group.Moto Morini X-Cape 650Under Znen, Moto Morini sold Corsaro 1200 ZZ, Corsaro 1200 ZT, Milano and Super Scrambler 1200. Currently, Moto Morini has had a restructuring of its product lineup and the official website only has two models of which, one is still yet to launch in Europe. We can take a look at X-Cape 650 which is available and has a better chance of becoming the first Moto Morini bike in India.Moto Morini 650cc ADV Motorcycle – X CapeIt is an adventure tourer motorcycle powered by a 649cc straight-twin engine that gets DOHC design with 4 valves per cylinder. It also gets fully adjustable 50mm front Marzocchi forks and a switchable ABS system with braking hardware from Brembo.Moto Morini 6 1/2 SeiemmezzoMoto Morini 6 1/2 SeiemmezzoWith design language inspired by bigger 9 1/2 and 11 1/2 motorcycles, 6 1/2 Seiemmezzo is a scrambler-style motorcycle. It gets minimal design language and is powered by the same engine powering the X-Cape. It gets SCR and STR variants and gets beautiful round headlights with round LED DRL and an LED projector taking care of illumination. Not a lot is known about this motorcycle yet as it is an upcoming motorcycle from Moto Morini.Launch & PricingMoto Morini bikes will be sold by AARI in India through their already established dealer network and touchpoints. Expect existing Benelli India dealer network to showcase and sell upcoming Moto Morini motorcycles.Expect X-Cape 650 to debut first, bearing the Moto Morini marque and 6 1/2 will follow later. X-Cape 650 will come in 4 different colour schemes, Red Passion, Smoky Anthracite, Carrara white and Gold Wheels Edition.     Top 10 200cc To 500cc Motorcycles May 2022 – Classic, Himalayan, KTM, Dominar

    Motorcycles in the 200-500cc range posted YoY and MoM growth with Royal Enfield 350 cc models ruling the listRoyal Enfield Classic 350The month of May 2022 ended on a promising note for motorcycles in the 200-500cc range. The past few months had seen sales of motorcycles in this segment dip in view of rising prices and higher fuel costs. However, May 2022 sales stood at 64,924 units, up 184.58 percent over 22,814 units sold in May 2021 leading to a 42,110 unit volume growth. MoM sales improved 6.83 percent over 60,776 units sold in April 2022.Motorcycle Sales 200cc To 500cc – May 2022Royal Enfield led the list with 4 of its models at the top of this list. It was the Classic 350 that saw the most sales in May 2022 with 29,959 units sold, up 224.27 percent growth over 9,239 units sold in May 2021. Volume growth was at 20,720 units with a 46.14 percent market share. It was however, a 8.03 percent MoM decline in sales over 32,575 units sold in April 2022.RE Meteor 350 sales increased 143.23 percent YoY to 8,209 units, up from 3,375 units sold in May 2021. Currently commanding a 12.64 percent market share, sales on a MoM basis also increased 77.80 percent from 4,617 units sold in April 2022 when market share was at 7.60 percent.RE Bullet (6,958 units) and Electra 350 (3,769 units) posted a YoY growth of 52.69 percent and 78.46 percent respectively. However, MoM sales dipped 7.39 percent and 3.80 percent respectively over 7,513 units and 3,918 units sold in April 2022.200cc – 500cc Motorcycle Sales May 2022 vs May 2021 (YoY)Honda H’Ness CB350 was in a No. 5 spot on this list of best selling bikes in the 200-500cc range. Sales stood at 3,308 units, up 672.90 percent over 428 units sold in May 2021. It was also a MoM growth of 3.25 percent from 3,204 units sold in April 2022. This was a 104 unit volume growth with market share at 5.27 percent which dipped to 5.10 percent in May 2022.Himalayan, V-Strom 250, DominarSales growth of 606.91 percent was reported in the case of the Himalayan which stood at 463 units in May 2021 and increased to 3,273 units in May 2022. This was a 2,801 unit volume growth with a 5.04 percent market share. It was also a MoM growth for the Himalayan up 6.61 percent over 3,070 units sold in April 2022. Suzuki launched a new 250cc adventure tourer named V-Strom SX at Rs 2.12 lakh (ex-sh) in April 2022 and saw sales of 1,729 units in May 2022. The new VStrom competes with the KTM 250 Adventure and Benelli TRK 251 in this segment.Bajaj Auto has seen increase in demand for the Dominar 400 which increased to 796 units in May 2022, up 1140.32 percent over 62 units sold in May 2021. It was also a MoM growth of 505.51 percent from 127 units sold in April 2022. FZ25 (706 units), KTM 250 (642 units) and KTM 390 (558 units) each posted YoY and MoM growth. However it was the KTM 250 that saw a 2468 percent MoM increase in sales from just 25 units sold in April 2022.200cc – 500cc Motorcycle Sales May 2022 vs Apr 2022 (YoY)There was also Dominar 250 on this list at No. 12 with 442 units sold, up 649.15 percent over 59 units sold in May 2021. MoM sales growth was at 154.02 percent over 174 units sold in April 2022. The list also included Apache 310 (385 units), Avenger 220 (288 units), Gixxer 250 (155 units) and Ninja 300 (152 units) each of which posted a notable YoY growth.Of these, Avenger 220 MoM sales improved 14300 percent from just 2 units sold in April 2022. There was also the Pulsar 220/250 (36 units),  Mojo (34 units) and CB 300R (4 units). Above are wholesales. Retail sales of Jawa / Yezdi motorcycles stood at 3,548 units, a 445.85 percent YoY growth over 650 units sold in May 2021 while sales dipped MoM by 3.56 percent over 3,679 units sold in April 2022.
