      TVS October price hike doesn’t apply to any of its 180cc+ motorcycles and its electric scooter, iQubeTVS ApacheThe Chennai-based 2W and 3W manufacturer has registered solid growth when it comes to domestic sales. But with increase in raw material costs, price increase has been inevitable. In October, the company hiked the prices that affect both scooters and motorcycles, except for a handful of products.This is unlike the minor price hike that a few Yamaha motorcycles recently got. TVS Sport Kick Start model saw a price hike of 3,920 and Electric Start model got a price hike of 1,600. Sport is TVS’ least expensive product. Star City Plus saw an even heftier hike of 4,785 for Drum variant and 4,145 for Disc variant. Sport model now starts from 64,040 and Star City Plus from 74,990.TVS Price Hike Oct 2022 – MotorcyclesRadeon is another strong contender in 110cc space. Base model doesn’t get any hike. Digi Drum and Digi Disc variant prices got hiked by 2,448 and 3,448 respectively. Radeon prices still start from 59,925. Raider 125 Drum variant price is hiked by 1,400 and Disc variant by 4,400. TVS Raider 125 recently got a 5” cluster with Smart Xonnect Bluetooth system that is priced at 99,990.Apache RTR 160 2V saw a price hike of 6,050 and 6,550 for Drum and Disc variants. Recently added Bluetooth variant is priced at 1,24,590. RTR 160 4V prices now start from 1,21,790 which used to start from 1,19,378. Price hike for Drum variant is 2,412, Disc variant is 3,805, BT variant is 4,389 and Special Edition variant is 4,515.TVS Motorcycle Prices Oct 2022From this point on, we step into TVS’ higher end of motorcycle spectrum. Surprisingly, TVS hasn’t fettled with the prices of any of these motorcycles. Apache RTR 180 was recently updated and is priced at 1,30,590 since launch. Apache RTR 200 4V prices start from 1,39,690 and are carried over as is.TVS’ cross-genre product Ronin prices started from Rs. 1,49,000 and are carried over as is along with Apache RR 310 prices which start from Rs. 2,65,000. Highest price hike among motorcycles is for Apache RTR 160 2V Disc variant which stood at 6,550 and accounted for 5.71% increment.TVS Price Hike Oct 2022 – ScootersStarting with Scooty Pep Plus, Gloss variant received a 2,950 hike, Pink variant received a 4,850 hike and Matte variant saw a hike of 2,950. In effect, Scooty Pep Plus prices now start from Rs. 63,284 over 60,334 before the price hike. TVS Zest has Gloss and Matte variants and both of them got a price hike of 4,620. Zest prices now start from 71,636.TVS Scooter Prices Oct 2022TVS Jupiter recently saw solid growth in sales. Jupiter 110 prices now start from 69,990. Price hike for Sheet metal Wheel is 1,419, STD variant is 2,100, ZX variant is 2,900, ZX Disc is 3,100 and Smart Xonnect is 2,900. Jupiter 125 saw a steeper price hike of 4,650 for Drum, 4,750 for Alloy, and 4,550 for Disc variants. Jupiter 125 range now starts from 82,825.TVS’ sporty NTORQ saw relatively less price hike. Drum variant saw 2,850, Alloy variant saw 4,750, Disc variant saw 2,850, Race Edition saw 3,300, Super Squad Edition saw 2,850, Race XP saw 2,850 and lastly, XT variant saw a price hike of 2,900. NTORQ prices now start from 79,956 over 77,106 before price hike. In contrast, iQube electric scooter prices have been retained as is. More

These images are from European Union Intellectual Property Office.Honda Electric Moped In The WorksOne look at this upcoming vehicle, immediately reminds us of the Honda Super Cub – an underbone motorcycle that is powered by up to 125cc petrol engine. It is one of the most iconic two wheeler in the world and is very popular to date. Sales surpassed 100 million in 2017.Honda’s upcoming electric moped might have been inspired by Super Cub in terms of design. But it is quite evident that the future product comes with future technology. It gets an electric powertrain, unlike a gasoline-burning ICE engine. Will Honda use its iconic Super Cub name on this electric moped? Only time will tell.Honda Electric Moped Design Sketches – RearWhat we can tell now, is that it gets an underbone-type chassis and even offers a flat footboard. Even though there is just one seat in the design sketches, production model is likely to offer a pillion seat, at least as an option. At the front, there is a cool-looking round headlight that might get LEDs. The overall design is very minimal and looks futuristic.Specs & FeaturesLooking at the cycle parts, one can easily recognise the large wheels. There are alloys that are likely to be 17” in size, just like Super Cub. Front gets a disc brake, while rear gets a drum unit. CBS might be offered. Rear wheel houses a hub motor that will get assistance from the pedals if needed via a chain drive.Honda hasn’t revealed any specifications as of now. It is not a stretch to speculate that Honda might push swappable battery tech with this electric moped. Looking at the design, one might think that there isn’t really a lot of place to house a large battery. That might be the case here. With swappable battery tech, that is less likely to be an issue.As of now, Honda electric moped is not a very promising proposition for India. That being said, there is a tiny possibility that it might launch in India for B2B segment and intra-city deliveries and even postal services in urban areas. The Indian startup company has revealed its roadmap which involves electric cars as well. This way, it is set to earn brownie points over its rivaling brands like Ather, Simple, and the likes. Future aside, Ola has to give prominence for the present as well.To boost sales of its electric scooter lineup, Ola has now introduced an even more affordable product over its S1. Called Ola S1 Air, this new scooter has a lower price point that will appeal to a wider audience. Let’s take a look at what all is new.Ola S1 Air Launch PriceOla S1 Air is priced at Rs. 79,999, it is practically sub 80K that was previously reported. As it comes at a lower price point, there have been certain major changes with Ola S1 Air over regular S1 and S1 Pro. For starters, there is a flat floorboard as opposed to a hump in the middle on S1 and S1 Pro. Even though it isn’t horizontal, it is flat. This should give a massive boost to Ola S1 Air in terms of practicality.Other changes include dual telescopic forks for front suspension, as opposed to a single-sided unit on S1 and S1 Pro. Even at the rear, we now have dual shock absorbers instead of a single-sided unit on the more premium electric scooters from Ola. The looks may not be as pretty as S1 and S1 Pro due to dual forks, they are likely to cause fewer failures. Air gets a new swingarm too. With a reported kerb weight of just 99 kg, Ola Electric has managed to shave off a lot of weight when compared to S1 and S1 Pro.[embedded content][embedded content]Grabrail is redesigned and we get dual-tone colours now. The main visual change that is very imminent is that Ola S1 Air gets a hub-mounted motor at the rear. This motor makes 4.5 kW of power (likely peak power) and draws juice from a 2.5 kWh battery pack. This powertrain runs on Move OS 3 and is rated for a 100 km range (IDC) in Eco Mode and a 0 to 40 km/h time of 4.3 seconds.Ola S1 Air Specs & FeaturesIn comparison, Ola S1 and S1 Pro get an 8.5 kW motor (peak power) that is almost double in power. Battery size was also larger. S1 comes equipped with a 3 kWh battery with a 141 km claimed range and S1 Pro comes equipped with a 3.9 kWh battery with a 181 km claimed range. Top speed for Ola S1 Air is not yet known, but will surely be less than 90 km/h of S1.Ola has not skimped on the 7” touchscreen that is offered with S1 and S1 Pro. Powered by Move OS 3, it doesn’t get every single feature that S1 Pro gets. For instance, features like cruise control have been given a miss owing to the lower price point. It sold 73,354 units last month, down by 9,205 units over 82,559 units sold in the same period last year and saw an 11.15% drop in sales YoY.Top 10 Motorcycles Sales September 2022Apache series is TVS’ highest-selling motorcycle range. Arch-rival of Pulsar, Apache series sold 42,954 units last month and gained 5.64% YoY over 40,661 units sold in the same period last year. Volume gain stood at 2,293 units and its market share among this list is 4.83%.Glamour is Hero’s third product to make it to this list and unlike HF Deluxe, saw positive growth in September 2022. With 38,266 units sold, Glamour registered a growth of 42.43% YoY while volume gain stood at 11,400 units. A surprising turn of events have favoured Honda’s Unicorn 160.Unicorn Registered 2501.51% YoY GrowthWe say this because, in September 2021, Unicorn only sold 1,390 units. Heck, just three months ago Unicorn only sold 79 units. Yeah! If we take a look at top 10 2W sales that we covered recently, Splendor takes the top spot with Activa brooding down its neck. Activa is one of the most successful names in the industry which is only second to Splendor in 2W sales. If analysing scooters, Activa is the top dog.With 2,45,607 units sold, Activa sales went up by a small margin over 2,45,352 units sold last year. With a volume growth of 255 units, Activa saw a mere 0.10% YoY growth. Sheer sales of Activa ensure that it enjoys 48.76% of this top 10 scooter list. Activa is by far the highest-selling product in Honda’s arsenal.Top 10 Scooters Sep 2022TVS Jupiter sales were at 82,394 units last month. Hero’s highest-selling scooter, Pleasure doesn’t seem to be having all that fun as it saw a drop in sales of 9.08% YoY with a volume loss of 1,966 units. Sales stood at 19,682 units over 21,648 units in September 2021.Hero’s second product on this list, Destini fares better YoY when compared to Pleasure. A Bengaluru-based startup called Simple Energy has launched its Simple One electric scooter in India to take on above-mentioned rivals. Simple One deliveries have not yet started.Simple Energy Trademarks New NamesSimple Energy has applied trademarks for a slew of products including Simple Two, Simple Three, Simple Four, Simple Five, Simple Six, Simple Seven, Simple Eight, Simple Nine and Simple Ten. Simple Vision, Simple Vision 25 and Simple Galaxy have also been trademarked.12 new trademarks have been applied. Most of these trademarks are still not approved. However, trademarks Simple Six, Simple Eight and Simple Nine have been accepted recently. It is not yet clear if Simple Energy is readying products in the immediate vicinity that would don these names.Simple Energy Trademarks Multiple New NamesSimple One electric scooter promises a lot of oomph. When pitted against rivals, Simple One trumps all with its largest-in-class battery and highest-in-class torque promising longest-in-class range from a single charge.Simple One gets a 3.3 kWh fixed battery as well as an optional removable 1.5 kWh battery. This innovative solution takes its total battery capacity to 4.8 kWh. Drawing juice front his battery is an electric motor making 8.5 kW of peak power and 4.5 kW of continuous power. Range is an astounding 236 km from the fixed battery and 300 km from the optional removable battery (claimed).Simple One DeliveryThe electric scooter startup has not been able to commence deliveries even in October 2022. Originally, Simple One delivery timeline was promised for July 2022. Which was postponed to September 2022. That didn’t materialise for the company and launch was postponed to October 2022.Simple Energy Trademarks Multiple New NamesThis is October 2022 and now, the delivery timeline has been pushed further to 1st quarter of 2023 (January to March). Latest postponement is attributed to various battery safety-related updates set by MoRTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways). These guidelines for EV manufacturers come in light of multiple EV fires that took place across the country. Bullet 350Most of Royal Enfield’s success is based on the foundation that is laid by Bullet 350. Being the OG of Royal Enfield’s endeavours in India, it is a name that doesn’t need an introduction. In fact, Bullet 350 name is more recognisable than its maker’s. Such is its fame. Bullet 350 will get a new J-Series engine, bringing it in line with other 350cc bikes in Royal Enfield stables.2023 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Render2. Scram 450Like Scram 411 is based on Himalayan, Scram 450 (rumoured) will be based on the new 450cc platform being cooked at Royal Enfield labs. Continental GT-R 650Continental GT 650 is currently Royal Enfield’s sportiest and arguably, prettiest motorcycle as well. With the Cafe Racer charm, it is a very desirable motorcycle for many.
