      2021 TVS Apache 310 Facelift Launch Soon – To Get A Range Of Updates

      One of the popular track-ready motorcycles in the country, TVS Apache RR310 is scheduled to get its 2021 update. As styling and performance are equally important in this segment, TVS is expected to focus on both aspects in 2021 model. Launch date is scheduled for 30th Aug.

      Even in its current form and earlier, Apache RR310 has always sported a captivating design. It has an aggressive look and feel and appears primed to dominate the tracks. 2021 version of the motorcycle could get sportier with an updated front fascia.
      The current model has a shark inspired design and comes with features such as bi-LED twin projector headlamps and snake fangs inspired LED tail lights. Among other visual enhancements, 2021 TVS Apache 310 Facelift could get new body colours.
      The matte blue colour option that is currently available with new RTR 200 4V could be a probable addition. The current model has colour options of Racing Red and Titanium Black. The graphics on body panels could also be updated in 2021 model.

      New Apache RR310 will likely get adjustability function for both front and rear suspension. It is to note that smaller displacement Apache RTR 200 4V already has this feature for its front suspension. With adjustable suspension, users can make the necessary changes as per their weight and riding environment.

      Another key update will likely be cornering ABS. As of now, the only motorcycle in this price range to offer cornering ABS is KTM 390 Adventure. 2021 TVS Apache RR310 could also be equipped with a new pair of tyres, possibly TVS Eurogrip Protorq. This is likely due to the current restriction on import of tyres in the country. In its current form, Apache RR310 rides on Michelin ROAD5 tubeless tyres.
      Engine specs are expected to be the same as earlier. The 312.2cc liquid cooled motor generates 34 PS of max power at 9700 rpm and 27.3 Nm of max torque at 7700 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. TVS Apache RR310 has max speed of 160 km/h. It can reach 0 to 100 kmph in 7.17 seconds.

      TVS seems to be keen to keep RR310 fresh and new to bolster its market potential. As may be recalled, Apache RR310 was updated last year as well. At that time, it had received a range of updates such as new body paint, riding modes, colour TFT instrument console and better gripping Michelin ROAD5 tyres. To top it all, the updates resulted in price increase of just Rs 12k.
      This time around, the updates are expected to make the motorcycle costlier by around Rs 10k.       Bajaj Pulsar Sales, Exports July 2021 – 125, 150, 160, 180, 200, 220F

      Pulsar range has been Bajaj Auto’s leading brand for over 2 decades and continues to attract buyers especially in the sporty commuter segment. In July 2021, the Bajaj Pulsar range noted de-growth in terms of domestic sales while exports grew significantly both in terms of YoY and MoM basis.

      Total Pulsar sales in domestic markets stood at 65,094 units in July 2021, down 11.84 percent over 73,836 units sold in July 2020. It was Pulsar 125 that ruled the sales charts and the only variant to post positive sales.
      Bajaj Pulsar 125 sales stood at 34,667 units in July 2021, up 14.73 percent over 30,217 units sold in July 2020. Pulsar 125 currently commands a 53.26 percent share. On a MoM basis, Pulsar 25 sales dipped 26.66 percent from 47,266 units sold in June 2021 when share stood at 59.72 percent.
      Bajaj Pulsar 150 sales dipped in the past month to 21,535 units, down 29.58 percent over 30,582 units sold in July 2020. MoM sales also fell 9.90 percent as against 23,901 units sold in June 2021.

      Taking into account domestic sales of Bajaj Pulsar 160, 180 and 200, sales fell 33.94 percent YoY to 5,408 units, down from 8,187 units sold in the same month of the previous year. These three models however fared better in terms of MoM sales with 21.72 percent growth reported following sales of 4,443 units sold in June 2021.
      Bajaj Pulsar 220F sales stood at 3,484 units in July 2021, down 28.16 percent over 4,850 units sold in domestic markets in July 2020. There was also a marginal dip in MoM sales at 1.58 percent with 3,540 units sold in June 2021.
      The biggest Pulsar yet is set to launch in November 2021. This is being referred to as the Pulsar 250F which will be based on a new platform. Set to be priced at around Rs 1.4 lakhs, the Pulsar 250F will compete with KTM Duke 250 and Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF.

      Exports of Bajaj Pulsar range saw a total of 35,371 units shipped in July 2021, up 194.22 percent over 12,022 units exported in July 2020. MoM exports also surged 36 percent over 26,003 units exported in June 2021. It was the 160,180 and 200 variants that noted higher demand in global markets with an increase of 198.82 percent YoY to 14,965 units, up from 5,008 units exported in July 2020. MoM exports also increased 17.82 percent from 12,702 units shipped in June 2021.
      Exports of Bajaj Pulsar 150, 125 and 220F also noted significant growth. Pulsar 150 exports were up 218.95 percent to 13,428 units in the past month, up from 4,210 units shipped in July 2020 while MoM exports saw a 43.49 percent increase over 9,358 units of June 2021.
      It was a 50.64 percent YoY increase for the Bajaj Pulsar 125 to 4,224 units in July 2021 while in July 2020 2,804 units had been exported. MoM exports increased 52.38 percent over 2,772 units shipped in June 2021. Noting the least exports among the Bajaj Pulsar range was the 220F with 2,754 units shipped in the past month, with a 135.18 percent MoM increase over 1,171 units exported in June 2021. More

      2021 Yamaha R15M Showcased To Dealers – First Undisguised Photos

      Globally, Yamaha utilizes the M suffix for performance oriented variants of its standard motorcycles. In the Indian market, Yamaha will soon launch the M version for R15 V3. With the name registered by the company, it has put all speculations to rest. Based on sightings of camouflaged test mules, a number of options were proposed earlier such as R2, R3 and R15 V4.

      One of the key updates for Yamaha YZF R15M is its single LED projector headlamp with sleek LED DRLs. The overall styling at the front looks familiar to that of R7. In comparison, standard R15 V3 utilizes twin-eye LED headlights. Other changes include subtle variations to body panels. The exhaust appears to be a stubbier unit and comes in metallic finish. At the rear, the LED tail lamp seems like a revised unit.
      Yamaha has showcased the upcoming R15M 155cc motorcycle to dealers at an exclusive event. New images reveal MotoGP theme, which significantly transforms the overall look and feel of the motorcycle. It remains to be seen if new colours will also be on offer for Yamaha YZF R15M. Existing R15 is offered in colour options of Metallic Red, Thunder Grey, Racing Blue and Dark Knight. Prices vary based on the colour selected.
      Functionally, R15M variant gets USD forks. It comes in golden finish, which enhances the bike’s sporty profile. It is to note that USD forks are already available for R15 V3 in international markets. Due to cost issues, it has not been introduced in Indian market. R15M variant will appeal to enthusiasts who had earlier expressed their wish to see R15 with USD forks.

      Another key update is revised instrument cluster and Bluetooth connectivity. Users can pair their mobile phones with the instrument console to access a range of connectivity features.

      Yamaha R15M variant will be using the same 155cc engine as that of standard R15 V3. The liquid cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve motor on-board R15 is capable of generating 18.6 ps of max power at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a constant-mesh 6-speed gearbox.
      The bike has been equipped with a range of advanced features such as assist and slipper clutch and variable valves actuation (VVA). In terms of safety, R15 has been equipped with side stand engine cut-off switch. Although R15M variant has the same engine, the power output mentioned in Type Approval Certificate is slightly less. It is 13.5 kW (~ 18.35 ps), as per the certificate.
      As far as dimensional aspects are concerned, Yamaha R15M variant is exactly the same as standard R15 V3. Both bikes are 1,990 mm long, 725 mm wide and 1,135 mm tall. Wheelbase is 1,325 mm whereas ground clearance is 170 mm. With the updates, Yamaha R15M variant will be costlier in comparison to standard R15.       2022 Triumph Tiger 660 First Official Teaser Images Revealed

      Triumph Motorcycles has just confirmed the launch of Tiger 660, officially christened as Tiger Sport 660. Their latest machine is set to become the most affordable adventure sports tourer from the iconic British brand. A full-fledged hardcore Adventure version of the same is also expected to debut at a later stage.
      Ahead of the international debut of Trident 660, a leaked image had suggested that the naked streetfighter would get two siblings- an adventure bike and an adventure sports tourer. Triumph has revealed a camouflaged version of the latter by releasing camouflaged images and a video. Triumph states that testing for Tiger Sport 660 is in its final stages.

      Tiger Sport series from the British bikemaker is the road-centric range of Triumph’s ADV line-up. It caters to buyers who specifically want a bike for touring purposes and wish to stick to tarmac more often than getting into broken tracks. The bike is set to be officially revealed in a couple of months, most probably during EICMA 2021. One can expect the new adventure bike to hit showrooms in India by early 2022.
      What’s similar to Trident 660?
      2022 Triumph Tiger 660 is based on the same architecture as naked streetfighter. It will feature the same 660cc three-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This motor is tuned to produce a healthy 80 bhp and 64 Nm of peak torque and the same output is expected to be available for the upcoming sports tourer. This unit will be coupled with a six-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch.

      Other hardware components such as suspension and braking setup have been straightaway lifted from Trident 660. Suspension duties will be handled by black colour USD forks and a mono-shock from Showa, although it will be interesting to see if they offer more travel or stuff like preload adjustability. Braking will be handled by a twin front disc and a single rear disc setup from Nissin.
      What’s dissimilar to Trident 660?
      While Tiger Sport 660 rides on the same 17-inch alloy wheels as its naked street racer sibling, the wheels are shod by Michelin Road 5 rubber. Even though the tubular frame underneath has been lifted from Trident 660, the upcoming sports tourer may get a new rear subframe and swingarm. Since both will cater to a different segment of buyers, the latter also gets ergonomic tweaks.
      The rider’s seat is longer in the Tiger with an aggressively raked up tail section. The handlebar is taller and wider and the footpegs are placed towards the centre which results in a more comfortable yet commanding riding posture. Optional side panniers enhance its credibility as a tourer.

      As far as its design is concerned, if put simply put, it is a Trident wrapped under the clothes of a Tiger. The motorcycle wears a typical half-faired design along with signature Tiger styling cues such as a tall windscreen, larger front fender and sleek twin LED headlamps.       Next-gen Classic 350 design and features
      The signature retro styling has been carried forward in most parts for new Classic 350. It’s one of the key things that define what the brand is all about. Most other new / next-gen product that Royal Enfield will introduce in the future will continue to use retro styling. Even the electric motorcycle that the company is developing will have retro styling. The only difference will be in the ratio of retro-modern features.
      In case of new Classic 350, the scales are tilted towards a retro-heavy profile. It is evident in the round headlamp and rear view mirrors, teardrop shaped turn indicators and fuel tank, and broad front and rear fenders. Both spoke and alloy wheel options will be available. Retro enthusiasts are most likely to choose the former.

      Liberal use of chrome garnish is another factor that enhances the bike’s retro profile. Chrome garnish can be seen on several components such as front and rear suspension, turn indicators, handlebar, engine casing and exhaust pipe. However, there will be colour variants that will have a blacked-out look.
      Some of the new colour options that will be available for next-gen Classic 350 include British Green and Glossy Grey. The seat colour will be accordingly adjusted. Some will have brown colour seats whereas others will get the standard black colour seats. In its current form, Classic 350 is available in colour options of Orange Ember, Stealth Black, Chrome Black, Airborne Blue, Stormrider Sand, Gunmetal Grey, Classic Black, and Metallo Silver.
      Just like its predecessor, new Classic 350 will be available in both single seat and dual seat configuration. However, there’s a slight change in that the spring-based rider seat has been replaced with a standard option. It is expected that the seats will have improved cushioning to ensure more comfort and reduced vibrations.

      Royal Enfield has used its new J platform and the new 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with Meteor 350. This setup will be used for new Classic 350 as well. Users have reported significant improvements in ride quality and vibration level with Meteor 350. Next-gen Classic 350 can be expected to deliver a similar level of performance.
      The new 349cc motor is capable of generating 20.2 bhp of max power and 27 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine produces far less vibrations, as it has been equipped with a counter-balancer shaft.

      Top 10 Motorcycles 500cc+ July 2021 – RE 650 Twins, Hayabusa, CBR650R, Ninja

      A total of 1,103 units were sold in July 2021, as compared to 1,345 units in July last year. YoY sales are down by -17.99%. With the exception of Triumph Street Twin, Kawasaki Versys 1000, and Kawasaki Z650, all other motorcycles have negative YoY growth.

      With their timeless design, world-class performance and competitive pricing, Royal Enfield 650 twins (Interceptor and Continental GT) continue to delight users across the globe. They continue to be bestsellers in the domestic market, garnering close to 3/4th market share in July. A total of 811 units were sold in the month. However, YoY sales are down by -23.35%, as compared to 1,058 units sold in July last year.
      Launched in 2018, 650 twins are expected to get a mid-facelift soon. Royal Enfield may introduce subtle style updates and some new colour options. The twins are likely to get Tripper navigation as well, which was introduced for the first time with Meteor 350.
      At number two is Kawasaki Z900 with sales of 44 units in July. Market share is at 3.99%. BS6 Kawasaki Z900 was launched last year in September at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh. Apart from the engine upgrade, a number of other features have also been introduced with BS6 Z900.

      Some of the key features include a new all-digital TFT instrument console, Bluetooth-based connectivity features via mobile app, two power modes of low and full, riding modes of sport, road and rain, and advanced traction control system.
      Suzuki Hayabusa takes the third spot with sales of 31 units in July. Market share is at 2.81%. A true legend, Hayabusa was re-launched in India based on popular demand. It was launched earlier this year in April at a starting price of Rs 16.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
      Till date, all available units have been sold out. In the first batch, 101 units were on offer. The second batch had 100 units, which was sold out within an hour. Enthusiasts are now eagerly waiting for third batch bookings to open.

      Next in the list is Honda CBR650R with sales of 27 units in July. Market share is at 2.45%. The fully-faired bike was launched earlier this year in March at a starting price of Rs 8.88 lakh. It is powered by a 648.72cc in-line four-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that makes 77 bhp at 12,000 rpm and 57.5 Nm at 8500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
      Triumph Tiger 900 is at fifth spot with sales of 25 units in July. YoY sales are down by -3.85%, as compared to 26 units sold in July last year. Market share is at 2.27%.
      Triumph Street Twin registers strong growth
      Placed at seventh place in the list, Triumph Street Twin has the highest YoY growth in top ten in percentage terms. A total of 20 units were sold in July, as compared to 11 units in July last year. YoY growth is at 81.82%. Market share is 1.81%. Other motorcycles in top ten are Kawasaki Ninja 650 (20 units), Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R (18), Kawasaki Ninja 1000 (16), and Kawasaki Versys 650 (14). More

      Yamaha 155cc Scooter Aerox, New R15M With Bluetooth, USD Forks – Launch Soon

      Yamaha is testing a number of new / updated products that are expected to be launched in the coming months. Additions to the list include a new variant of YZR R15 V3. The name registered by the company is R15M. This new variant is likely to be a new top of the line R15 variant, which will get sportier styling, new features like Bluetooth, etc.
      Yamaha will also be expanding its scooter portfolio to include its first maxi-scooter for the Indian market. Earlier this month we had reported that Yamaha will be launching a new scooter based on R15’s 155cc engine in India by Diwali 2021. It will be the new Aerox 155, as Yamaha has homologated the same in India.

      Maxi-scooter segment is largely untapped in the Indian market. It’s good to see that some OEMs have started exploring this space with the aim to gain the first-mover advantage. The current options are fairly limited to a few products such as Aprilia SXR 160.
      Yamaha will be entering this space with Aerox 155. The scooter is already available in several south east Asian markets such as Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines. As per the Type Approval Certificate, Aerox for the Indian market measures 1980 mm in length, 700 mm in width, and 1150 mm in height. Wheelbase is 1350 mm.

      Aerox will be using the same engine as that of R15. However, it will come in a detuned state, generating close to 15 ps at 8,000 rpm. The maxi-scooter is expected to get a range of connectivity features accessible via Yamaha’s mobile app.

      Yamaha R15M is likely to be a more sportier version of the R15. Recently, new Yamaha motorcycle was spotted on test in India. It is still unclear as to what that motorcycle could be. But with this new homologation details out, it is likely that it was the Yamaha R15M, and not the R3 or the R2 or the R15 V4 as reported earlier.
      Yamaha uses the M tag for the performance oriented versions of their standard motorcycles. The spy shots reveal that the R15M will get a new headlight unit, inspired by the R7. It will also get the USD forks. R15 is already available with USD forks outside India, but for India it is available with regular telescopic forks. Finally India will get USD forks on the R15 V3, with the new R15M variant.

      Other features and cycle parts for Yamaha YZF R15M variant will be the same as the current model. R15 is powered by a 155cc liquid cooled, SOHC, 4-valve motor that is capable of generating 18.6 ps of max power at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm.
      It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. The bike is equipped with advanced features such as variable valves actuation (VVA) and assist and slipper clutch. It also has integrated side stand engine cut-off switch.

      Dimensionally, R15M is the same as R15 standard variant. The bike measures 1,990 mm in length, 725 mm in width, and 1,135 mm in height. Wheelbase and ground clearance is 1,325 mm and 170 mm, respectively. Braking apparatus comprises 282 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.       Suzuki July 2021 Sales, Exports – Access, Gixxer, Burgman, Hayabusa, Intruder

      Suzuki India (SMIPL) managed to continue its decent run in the Indian market. The Japanese auto giant witnessed growth in both domestic as well as export in the two-wheeler segment. As many as 60,589 two-wheelers were dispatched by Suzuki to dealerships across the country in July 2021 which resulted in YoY growth of 92.83 percent.
      Domestic Sales-Access Leads
      Last year during the same period, Suzuki retailed 31,421 units of two-wheelers. The domestic sales chart was led by Access 125 with a total of 46,985 units sold last month. In comparison, the company sold 23,171 units of the scooter in July last year which translates to YoY growth of 102.78 percent.
      Access was followed by Burgman Street 125 which raked in 10,104 units for the OEM last month. During the same period last year, Suzuki sold 5,473 units of the Maxi-style scooter which has resulted in YoY growth of 84.62 percent.
      Gixxer stood at the third spot with 2,937 units sold last month. In comparison, the bikemaker sold 2,162 units of the 155cc motorcycle in July last year which translates to YoY growth of 35.85 percent.
      Suzuki India Sales, Exports July 2021 vs July 2020 (YoY)
      Gixxer is sold in two derivatives- a naked one and a fully faired one with SF branding. This duo of motorcycles is followed by their quarter-litre siblings Gixxer 250 with 415 units sold in July this year. Last year, this figure stood at 464 units for the 250cc bikes which have resulted in negative YoY growth of 10.56 percent. The Gixxer range of motorcycles was trailed by Intruder with a total of 117 units sold last month.
      Suzuki retailed 151 units of the cruiser and registered a negative YoY growth of 22.52 percent. The Japanese company sold 31 units of its most iconic nameplate- Hayabusa last month. The third generation model of the flagship super sports tourer made its debut in India earlier this year.
      Exports- Gixxer, Burgman Show Growth
      The exports chart was led by Gixxer as Suzuki shipped 5,544 units of the quarter-litre duo to foreign markets in July this year. During the same period last year, the automaker dispatched 2,286 units of sporty commuters, therefore, recording YoY growth of 142.50 percent. Burgman Street registered the highest YoY growth of 3850 percent as Suzuki shipped a total of 2,844 units as opposed to just 72 units exported last year.

      2,268 units of Gixxer 250 were exported in July this year as compared to 585 units dispatched during the same month last year. Hence, YoY growth of 287.69 percent was registered. 528 units and 520 units of Hayate and Access were shipped to foreign markets, the exact same figures were exported last year as well. In total 12,494 units of two-wheelers were exported to overseas markets which have translated to YoY growth of 317.72 percent. More
