    Ambitious plans take a lot of courage and they often have to face numerous challenges along the way. Something similar appears to be happening with Ola Electric that aims to become the largest producer of electric scooters in the country.
    While the scooters are well-equipped with several best-in-class features, things are not exactly working out as expected for some users. These owners have now shared their experiences online and are expecting to get a resolution soon.

    One user has reported that his Ola S1 Pro started experiencing problems soon after delivery. After riding just around 6 km, the owner noticed problems such as screeching noises and headlight issues. The scooter was subsequently towed away for repairs. When the scooter was delivered back, the owner noticed broken number plate and oil marks on the scooter. On its part, Ola Electric has offered to fix the reported issues.
    Furthermore, the owner said the scooter was used for around 19 km while it was with the service team. He was also not happy with the fact that documentation for the repairs was not provided.

    In another case, a Visakhapatnam-based Ola S1 Pro owner has reported that his scooter was delivered with cracks and dents all over the body. Although customer care team has assured that repairs will be done, the owner said he purchased a new product and not a refurbished product.

    The owner also pointed out to the gap between the LCD panel. According to him, this fault can potentially damage the panel if exposed to water or rain. In this case, Ola has replied that the owner will be getting a free replacement of a brand new Ola electric scooter in pristine condition.

    An Ola electric scooter owner has pointed out the difference between the amount charged for insurance and the actual premium amount mentioned in policy document. As against Rs 7,471 paid, the policy document shows only Rs 6,695. As of now, Ola scooter buyers have to go with insurance chosen by the company.

    Ola scooter users have also reported issues with range. In real world conditions, range is less than certified range of 121 km for Ola S1 and 181 km for S1 Pro. Ola has already issued an advisory for this in an earlier communication.
    As compared to the conventional ecosystem of dealerships, Ola Electric is following an entirely online approach. Scooters are delivered and serviced at the user’s address. For repairs and other jobs that cannot be done onsite, it is likely that Ola has partnered with third-party workshops.

    Some have also reported of fraud by unknown parties. There have been cases where fraudsters shared fake links for making payment of Ola electric scooter.     Jawa Cruiser New Spy Shots Reveal Riding Stance

    After launching Jawa, Classic Legends is not getting ready to launch Yezdi in India. Jawa currently has 3 offerings – Jawa, 42 and Perak. In 2022, Jawa is expected to get two more motorcycles under its brand name – one of them will be a cruiser, which has been spied testing quite often in the past few days.
    The latest spy shots of Jawa Cruiser are credit to automotive enthusiast Aditya Puranik. A total of two test mules of the Jawa cruiser were spotted. These new spy shots reveal the riding stance of the upcoming Jawa cruiser in detail.

    Speaking of its styling, the motorcycle gets a neo-retro design with prominent elements such as a round headlamp, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, circular rearview mirrors, broad fenders and a wide saddle. Other highlights will include a small flyscreen upfront and fork gaiters.
    Like most cruisers, the Jawa cruiser will have a low-slung stance and ergonomics of the motorcycle would ensure a relaxed and comfortable ride thanks to a low seat and a tall and wide handlebar. Interestingly, the Jawa cruiser spied, does not have forward-set footpegs. They seem to be in the same position as found on the current Jawa and 42 motorcycles.

    Powering the upcoming Jawa cruiser could be a 334cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC engine that currently powers Jawa Perak. This same engine is also expected to propel other upcoming motorcycles from Classic Legends. On the Perak, this motor dishes out 30 bhp and 32.74 Nm of peak torque and will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch.Familiar hardware configurations will be employed on the upcoming cruiser.
    Suspension duties will be carried out using conventional telescopic forks at front and twin shock absorbers at rear. Braking duties will be handled by single disc brakes at both ends which will be aided by a dual-channel ABS.
    In terms of other features, the Jawa cruiser can offer all-LED lighting and a semi-digital instrument console. Details are too thin at the moment to speculate an exact launch timeline or expected price of the bike. Hopefully, Classic Legends throws some light on its upcoming projects in the near future.
    Yezdi Debut 13th Jan 2022
    While details about Jawa cruiser launch are awaited, Classic Legends has confirmed that the Yezdi brand will make its official debut on 13th Jan 2022. It is on this day that the new Yezdi Roadking and its Adventure version are also expected to debut.
    Yezdi has released a matrix-themed teaser in which the silhouette of the iconic Roadking is seen. The short 14-second teaser doesn’t let out any other significant information. Roadking could be an rival to upcoming Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Pricing could be in the Rs 2 lakh range. More details at the official launch event next month. More

    The electric two wheeler segment has seen some added activity in recent times. There has been a notable exodus from ICE to EV vehicles, particularly with the constant rise in fuel prices.

    The company that operates from the headquarters based in Haryana has a distribution channel of 100+ dealerships across 80 cities in India, more specifically in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.     GT-Force showed off three new electric two wheelers at EV India Expo 2021. These include two scooters – GT Drive and GT Drive Pro, along with an Electric Motorcycle prototype. These are all set to be introduced as high end, high speed electric vehicles which will come in with special styling and state of the art technology.
    GT Drive Pro is in the low speed category. It is ideally suited for short distance travel and can cover a distance of 75 km on single charge with a top speed of 25 km/h. The scooter comes in with both LEAD acid and Lithium ion battery options.
    GT Drive is a high speed e-scooter going up to a top speed of 60 km/h. It gets a drive range of 150 kms on single charge and is offered exclusively with Lithium ion batteries. GT Drive gets three drive modes of economy, standard and turbo. It also comes with a cruise control system. This higher range and top speed breaks the misconception in buyer’s minds that electric vehicles are not ideally suited for long distance travel, thus proving inconvenient.
    The company also revealed a prototype of a yet unnamed electric motorcycle which will be launched in India by the end of 2022.     New Electric Scooters, 3 Wheelers Launched By e-Ashwa Automotive

    Huge untapped potential of EV segment has attracted quite a few manufacturers in recent times. Newest entrant in this domain is e-Ashwa Automotive. The company recently launched a range of electric vehicles that includes electric scooters, motorcycles and three-wheelers. Most of their EVs utilize lithium-ion battery packs.

    e-Ashwa has a diversified EV portfolio comprising e-rikshaw, e-scooters, e-auto, e-loader, food cart vehicle and electric garbage vehicle. There are around a dozen electric scooters on offer, most of which are priced in the range of approximately Rs 60k to Rs 90k. All of these have top speed in the range of 25-45 kmph. Range of these scooters on a full charge is between 60-110 km.
    EasyGo Plus electric scooter has the highest range of around 90-110 km. It has a 1250 W motor that gets power from a 60V 30 Ah lithium-ion battery pack. With a 60v 5Amp charger, the scooter can be charged from 0-100% in around 4-5 hours. EasyGo Plus is available in three colour options of Black, White and Blue. It is priced at Rs 88,327 (on-road). This scooter is currently available only in Delhi-NCR.
    Motorcycle range has six products, starting at Rs 1.06 lakh. Range-topping product is Beast, which comes with a 5,000-Watt drive motor. It gets power from a 73.6V 72 Ah lithium-ion battery pack. The bike can travel at a top speed of 90 kmph. Range is 110 km on a full charge. It can carry max load of 150 kg and climb 12° gradients. e-Ashwa on-road price starts at Rs 2.42 lakh in Delhi-NCR.

    e-Ashwa electric three-wheelers will cater to both passenger and cargo segments. e-Ashwa e-auto is available in three variants, starting at Rs 1 lakh. It has a 900–1000-Watt high power motor. It can seat a total of 5 people including the driver.
    Top speed is 25 kmph. e-Ashwa e-rickshaw has similar specs and is available at a starting price of Rs 1.25 lakh. e-Loader utilizes the same powertrain and is available in two variants. Prices start at Rs 1.31 lakh.
    e-Ashwa has been active in EV space since the last three years. Earlier, the company used to sell EV products of other brands. As demand for EVs is expected to increase exponentially in coming years, e-Ashwa decided to launch its own range of electric vehicles. Subsequently, a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility was setup in Ghaziabad.
    In addition to new EV products, e-Ashwa is also looking to expand its retail network across the country. It currently has around 670 retail stores and franchisees. Till date, the company has sold more than 6,000 electric vehicles. As part of their strategy, e-Ashwa has plans to scaleup operations in a big way in the future.     New TVS Apache 165 RP Makes More Power Than Yamaha R15 – Specs

    New TVS Apache 165 RPMore models are expected to make debuts in the RP range based on other Apache models
    Recently, TVS launched the race-spec version of Apache RTR 160 with an increased engine displacement and stiffer riding dynamics. Priced at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Apache RTR 165 RP is the first bike under the ‘Race Performance (RP)’ brand of motorcycles from TVS.
    Apache RTR 165 RP will be a special edition model limited to only 200 units across the country. The RP range of motorcycles will cater to enthusiastic riders only for whom performance is the biggest universal selling point. The bike features the same mechanical configurations used by the company’s race-spec motorcycle.
    Engineered on the racetrack, Apache RTR 165 RP is inspired by the TVS Racing Group C GP 165R. Ridden by K. Jagan, this motorcycle has won the INMRC championship nine times.
    Apart from revised mechanical configurations, the new bike also gets a new paint scheme and body graphics in order to distinguish itself from its standard sibling. In fact, the livery is in line with the GP 165R used on race tracks. Below is a comparison between Apache 165 RP vs Yamaha R15.

    Updates in Powertrain
    Starting with its powertrain, RTR 165 RP is powered by a heavily reworked 164.9cc, four-valve, single-cylinder engine that dishes out 19.2 bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.2 Nm of peak torque at 8,750rpm. For reference, its sibling RTR 160 4V makes 17.5 bhp at 9,250rpm and 14.73 Nm of torque at 7,250rpm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch.
    The increased output has been achieved thanks to a revised cylinder head with a 35 percent higher airflow port and 15 percent bigger valves. Further, the bore-stroke ratio has been revised to 1.37 for the engine to rev freely up to 10,000rpm. A new dome piston has been used to achieve a higher compression ratio.
    Updated Dynamics
    The tweaked dynamics involve a stiffer double-cradle synchro chassis that increases stability by up to 25 percent. While it misses out on an adjustable suspension setup, the floating piston shock absorber at rear sourced from Showa has been race-tuned for compression and rebound damping. Braking has been improved with a new 240mm disc at rear.
    The bike rolls on race-spec ProtorQ SR radial tyres sourced from Eurogrip which offer better grip around corners. Another crucial update includes adjustable clutch and brake levers. At 148kg, RTR 165 RP weighs 2 kilos more than the rear disc brake variant of RTR 160 4V. TVS could introduce RP edition models based on other Apache models in the future as well. More

    Honda Sales Breakup Nov 2021 – Activa, CB350, Dio, Grazia, CB Shine

    New Honda ActivaDomestic sales of Honda Two-Wheelers declined by nearly 38 per cent on a YoY basis
    As was seen in the case of every other Indian two wheeler maker, Honda domestic sales have dipped significantly though the past month ended on a more positive note in terms of exports.
    Domestic sales dipped 37.92 percent YoY to 2,56,174 units, down from 4,12,642 units sold in November 2020. Every model in the company lineup has posted a YoY de-growth. Exports on the other hand increased 17.73 percent from 20,565 units shipped in November 2020 to 24,211 units in the past month.

    As is seen in every month, Honda Activa was once again the best seller in the company lineup in Nov 2021. Sales dipped 45.05 percent to 1,24,082 units, down from 2,25,822 units sold in November 2020. Honda Activa commands a 48.44 percent share. The new Honda Activa 125 Premium Edition has just been launched in India. It comes in at a starting price of Rs 78,725, and rivals the likes of Suzuki Access 125, Hero Destini 125, etc., in its segment.
    At No. 2 was the CB Shine with an 11.43 percent dip in YoY sales. Sales which had stood at 94,413 units in November 2020 dipped to 83,622 units last month. The CB Shine was also the second best-selling motorcycle in the country after the Hero Splendor. Honda Unicorn 160, in the commuter bike segment, was the third best-selling model in the company lineup. Sales dipped 28.6 percent YoY to 15,555 units, down from 21,796 units sold in November 2020.

    Following lower down the list was Honda Dio scooter with 8,522 units sold last month. Dio has posted maximum de-growth at 75.5 percent down from 34,812 units sold in Nov 2020. Honda Dio was also down to No. 8 on the list of best-selling scooters in Nov 2021, with models such as the TVS Jupiter, Suzuki Access and Ntorq along with Yamaha RayZR and Suzuki Burgman commanding higher positions.
    Honda Dream (7,956 units), Livo (7,416 units) and Grazia (5,448 units) all posted a YoY de-growth along with Hness CB 350 and Hornet 2.0. Sales of the CBR650 were down to 2 units in the past month while CB500 and Hornet 2.0 posted sales of 1 unit each.

    Ending the month with positive growth, HMSI had its Navi scooter at the top of export charts last month. Sales increased to 7,748 units last month, up 65.41 percent over 4,684 units sold in November 2020. Honda Navi is a crossover, combining the advantages of a scooter while displaying characteristics of a motorcycle. More recently, Honda started delivering Navi to US market through Honda Mexico thus strengthening their portfolio in export markets. The company has dispatched over 5000 CKD kits of Navi bikes to Mexico so far.

    Honda Dio scooter also fared better in export markets with a 104.40 percent YoY growth. Sales stood at 4,595 units last month, up from 2,248 units sold in Nov 2020. At No. 3 was CB Shine with exports increasing 18.16 percent YoY to 2,960 units, as against 2,505 units sold last yr. However, shipments of Honda X-Blade and Dream dipped 25.61 percent and 17.63 percent YoY to 2,080 units and 1,308 units respectively.
    HMSI noted outstanding demand for the CB350 that increased 1282.61 percent YoY to 1,272 units, up from 92 units. Grazia scooter also saw more demand in global markets with a 93.75 percent YoY increase to 1,240 units, up from 640 units.
    Exports of Honda Unicorn 160 and Livo dipped 11.54 percent and 66.67 percent respectively YoY while Hornet 160R sales increased marginally by 4.02 percent to 724 units in the past month. Exports of Hornet 2.0 and Unicorn 150 were at 40 units each while 0 units of Activa, Aviator and CB Twister were seen last month. More

    Hero Sales Breakup Nov 2021 – Splendor, Deluxe, Maestro, Xpulse, Xtreme

    Hero MotoCorp has reported de-growth in terms of domestic sales while shipments surged 35.66 percent on a YoY basis. Total sales stood at 3,49,348 units in the past month. This included 3,28,817 units sold in domestic markets while 20,531 units were shipped globally.
    Sales dipped 42.91 percent YoY to 3,28,817 units down from 5,75,917 units sold in November 2020. It was also a 37.69 percent MoM de-growth from 5,27,723 units sold in October 2021. Everny model in the company lineup noted a YoY and MoM de-growth except for the Xpulse 200 that increased significantly on a YoY basis. The company cites many reasons for this negative impact, be it the delay in harvesting, late withdrawal of monsoons and lack luster demand across the festive season.

    Hero Splendor was the most in demand with 1,92,490 units sold last month, down 22.51 percent over 2,4,398 units sold in November 2020. It was also a MoM de-growth of 28.13 percent from 2,67,8221 units sold in October 2020. Share increased from 50.75 percent to 58.54 percent MoM.
    At No. 2 was Hero HF Deluxe with a 57.56 percent YoY de-growth to 76,149 units, down from 1,79,426 units sold in November 2020. MoM sales also dipped in domestic markets by 53.66 percent over 1,64,311 units sold in October 2021. Hero Splendor was at No. 1 and HF Deluxe at No 4 on list of top 10 best selling best selling two wheelers in the last month.

    At No. 3 in the company lineup was Hero Glamour with a 45.11 percent YoY de-growth to 21,901 units while MoM sales dipped 14.66 percent from 25,663 units sold in October 2021. Hero Passion (12,933 units) and Pleasure (11,136 units) also suffered de-growth in November 2021.
    Hero Maestro (5,290 units), Destini (3,264 units) and Xtreme 160R (3,251 units) also noted steep decline in YoY and MoM sales. Hero Xpulse 200 was the only model on the company charts to note a YoY growth of 67.86 percent to 2,303 units, up from 1,372 units sold in November 2020.

    Shipments to global markets were more promising for Hero MotoCorp in the past month and in October, wherein growth was recorded at 35.66 percent and 1.68 percent respectively. Exports which had stood at 15,134 units in November 2020 increased to 20,531 units in November 2021 while it was also growth over 20,191 units exported in October 2021.

    Hero Hunk found most demand in global markets to 9,070 units, up 134.61 units over 3,866 units exported in November 2020. It was also a 6.96 percent MoM growth from 8,480 units shipped in October 2021. Growth was also recorded for the HF Deluxe at 65.65 percent to 5,006 units, up from 3,022 units exported in November 2020 while MoM exports saw a marginal increase of 0.64 percent over 4,974 units shipped in October 2021.
    Even as Splendor exports dipped 24.62 percent to 3,120 units in the past month, Glamour exports increased 154.52 percent to 1,66 units, up from 653 units shipped in November 2020. Xpulse 200 (1,255 units), Maestro (338 units) and Destini 125 (80 units) YoY sales dipped even as MoM exports showed more promising results. No exports were reported either in October or November 2021 for the Pleasure, Xtreme 160/200, Duet, Achiever and Passion. More

    Fuel price and electric scooters
    Fluctuations in crude oil supplies, has kept fuel prices in India steady at a high. And somehow this economic crisis, instead of being dealt with through price corrections has been allowed to rise to great heights. And on the back of petrol price hikes, electric two-wheelers are being presented as the cost effective solution.
    On the face of it, purchase cost of electric scooters isn’t exponentially lower than petrol scooters. The projected advantage always focuses on running costs, i.e, charging a battery as against buying petrol. Surely this analogy alone isn’t enough to convince the buyer.
