    Yezdi Roadking ADV 350 Spied Closely – New Details Of Himalayan Rival

    Classic Legends has taken upon itself to revive iconic motorcycle brands from yesteryears. It started with the Czech brand Jawa in 2018 and it will continue with Yezdi and the iconic British nameplate BSA in the coming future. The latter will specifically cater to buyers in the UK market.
    The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer filed a trademark for the ‘Roadking’ moniker in India which will likely be the first motorcycle under the Yezdi brand. A test mule of a motorcycle which is presumed to be a Yezdi has been spotted on a couple of occasions previously. Based on the Roadking, a new ADV will also be launched, that will take on the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

    At the first glance, the motorcycle reminds us of Royal Enfield Himalayan. In all possibilities, it will be positioned as an entry-level adventure bike against the off-roader from the Chennai-based bikemaker. Signature ADV styling highlights of this bike include a beak-like front mudguard, a taller handlebar, a large windscreen, a raised tail section and multi-purpose tyres.
    The ADV also gets mountings to accommodate accessories such as a luggage rack and pannier boxes. It gets an all digital instrument cluster which is encased in a way which is usually seen on rally motorcycles. Take a look at the detailed video by The Fat Biker below.

    Both Yezdi motorcycles will share the same underpinnings which will include telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at rear. However, the ADV derivative is expected to offer greater travel than the scrambler version. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at both ends complemented by a single-channel ABS as standard.
    Engine Specs
    The new Roadking and its ADV sibling will be manufactured under the same roof as their Jawa cousins at the company’s production facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. They are expected to be powered by a new Perak based 350cc engine. It will be a single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor which will deliver power in the 30 PS range. It is likely to be coupled with a 6-speed constant mesh transmission.
    Upcoming Yezdi Roadking
    The upcoming Roadking is expected to be a neo-retro scrambler which has been testified with the earlier spy shots. Speculative design renderings have also suggested that it could possibly be a scrambler. A testing prototype of Roadking has been spotted again revealing crucial details about the upcoming scrambler. It is most likely to be underpinned by the same platform as Mahindra Mojo and its Jawa cousins.

    Some of its key styling highlights which give it a retro appeal include a round headlamp, short front fenders, circular taillamps, spoked wheels, circular rearview mirrors, almond-shaped fuel tank, a single-piece cantilevered seat and fork gaiters. In comparison to its modern classic counterparts from Jawa, Roadking could be offered with a slightly taller handlebar.
    Unlike the previous spy shots of Roadking, the current set of images reveal a finished upswept exhaust. The riding posture also seems fairly comfortable with an upright stance thanks to centre-set footpegs and a straight handlebar.     Ola Electric Scooter Performing Stunts – Ready To Serve The Champions

    Ola Electric has pushed back the purchase window for its S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters by a month and a half. Initially, the second window to buy the e-scooters was scheduled to open on November 1. Now, the second purchase window will commence on December 16.
    This development comes after the Bengaluru-based EV startup failed to meet its October delivery deadline. Ola said the booking date was pushed back to deal with increasing demand and to minimise the time between booking and delivery of the scooters.
    Ola Electric Scooter Stunts
    While Ola S1 offers a range of around 120 km on a single charge, the more premium S1 Pro returns a range of 180km on a single charge. While the former is powered by a 2.98kWh battery pack, the latter gets a 3.97kWh battery. Both scooters feature an 8.5 kW electric motor that delivers an output of 11 bhp and 58 Nm of peak torque. The scooters are based on the Dutch-based Etergo Appscooter.
    Electric scooter brands like Ather and Ola are likely to be charged up extra, post Rajiv Bajaj’s ‘Breakfast of Champions‘ comment. To showcase the performance of these new electric scooters, their CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has shared a new video on social media. This shows Ola S1 PRO performing stunts which were believed to have not been possible with electric scooters.

    S1 and S1 Pro are currently being manufactured at Ola’s recently inaugurated facility in Hosur which is spread over 100 acres. The fact that this manufacturing facility is completely operated by women is very unique. It also revealed that at full capacity, Ola Electric will employ 10,000 people which would make it the world’s largest women-only factory.
    Focus on clearing backlogs
    The company is currently focused on fulfilling existing orders before accepting new ones. Production of the electric scooters recently commenced and it appears that it would take some time for Ola to clear its backlog of deliveries. It should also be pointed out that the EV manufacturing arm of the ride-hailing major hasn’t started delivering the scooters to owners of the first batch yet.
    Interested buyers can still reserve a slot for the upcoming purchase windows through the official company website a token amount of Rs 499. The firm will soon reach out to its customers in the coming weeks to schedule test rides of the scooters. Ola Electric hasn’t established any dealership network as of now and that has made it practically impossible for any interested buyer to get a test ride before purchasing one.
    Price
    However, things will remain same for consumers who have already booked their scooter for Rs 20,000 during the first purchase window on 15 and 16 September. The final payment window for such customers will open from 10 November onwards on the basis of previous communication by the company.
    Ola launched S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters on August 15 at a price of Rs 1.0 lakh and Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.     New Aprilia SR160 First Batch Arrives At Dealer Showroom

    After launching middleweight motorcycles RS 660 and Tuono 660 in September, Aprilia is gearing up to introduce updated SR160. It is currently the highest capacity Aprilia scooter available in India.
    Other scooters offered by the Italian manufacturer include SR125, Storm 125, SXR-125, and SXR-160. There’s a SR160 Race edition available as well, which gets special MotoGP inspired styling.

    Ahead of its launch, updated SR160 has started arriving at dealer showrooms. Latest images are credit to YouTube channel TorqueTV Live. Most of the changes have been introduced at the front, where the scooter gets a new V-shaped LED headlamp. It’s a single-beam unit in comparison to the dual-beam unit used in current model. Headlight assembly is now much broader and comes with integrated LED DRLs that are placed vertically.
    Top cowl gets new grooves that ensure a proper face for the scooter. It is flanked by turn indicators, which are largely the same as earlier. Graphics have been updated across the front and side panels. The Italian connection can be seen with the green, white and red graphics on the front apron. In the current model, this styling feature is placed on the top cowl.
    New Aprilia SR160
    Another key update is that components like the front fender have carbon fibre finish. Other parts such as top cowl and some sections of side panels are wrapped in glossy finish. These changes ensure a sportier, premium look and feel for the scooter. At the rear, the scooter gets a single-piece pillion grab-rail. The existing model has split grab rails.
    Twin pod semi-digital instrument console is expected to be the same as earlier. It is not certain if Aprilia will introduce new colour options for updated SR160. In its current form, the scooter is available in colour options of red, white, black, blue and grey.

    There are unlikely to be any major changes to the scooter’s hardware. SR160 gets power from a 160.03 cc, air cooled, single cylinder, 3 valve, SOHC motor. It is capable of generating 10.86 hp of max power at 7,600 rpm and 11.6 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The scooter has telescopic front suspension and a monoshock unit at rear. Braking apparatus comprises 220mm disc at front and 140mm drum brake at rear. Single-channel ABS is offered as standard.
    Aprilia SR160 measures 1985 mm in length, 806 mm in width and has a wheelbase of 1365 mm. It runs on 120/70 – 14-inch front and rear tubeless tyres. It weighs 122 kg and can carry 7 litres of fuel. As of now, Aprilia SR160 does not have any direct rival in the Indian market.     Underbone-style two-wheelers are quite popular in Malaysia and other south-east Asian markets. Their design can range from a standard looking moped to something far more radical and sportier like Honda RSX. In Malaysia, 2022 RSX has been launched at a starting price of RM 8,688. This is approximately INR 1.55 lakh.

    Honda RSX blends in sporty looks of a motorcycle and comfort and convenience available with a scooter. The bike has a pointy nose with aggressive dual LED headlamps and sporty LED DRLs. It looks muscular and dominating, especially when viewed from the front. Handlebar cowl has a central air intake, which also works to enhance the bike’s sporty profile.
    Other key features include trendy rear-view mirrors, sleek turn signals, blacked-out engine, ergonomic seat, split grab rails, and upswept exhaust. Honda RSX has a full digital speedometer that displays a range of information such as gear position, fuel level, rpm, etc. The bike has a comfortable riding stance with centrally placed foot pegs.
    Colour options include Trico Edition, which is essentially a blend of red, blue and black. Candy Carribean Blue Sea utilizes blue against black whereas Lemon Ice Yellow combines yellow and black. All three colour options get body-coloured front fenders. Coloured wheels would have further enhanced the bike’s look and feel, but that’s not available currently. Wheels are wrapped in standard black paint.

    Powering Honda RSX is a 149.2 cc, liquid cooled, PGM-FI, DOHC motor. It is capable of generating 15.8 hp of max power at 9,000 rpm and 13.6 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with multiple wet clutch. The bike utilizes a twin tube frame with telescopic forks at front and monoshock suspension with preload adjustability at rear.
    It has 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, shod with 90/80 front and 120/70 rear tubeless tyres. Both wheels have disc brakes and single-channel ABS is offered as standard. The bike has curb weight of 122 kg. Fuel tank capacity is pretty low at just 4.5 litres.
    Honda RSX India launch?
    It is unlikely that Honda RSX will be launched in India. Here, the closest match are mopeds that register strong sales every month. They are one of the most affordable two-wheeler options available in the country. Mopeds are fuel efficient and can carry significant amount of load.
    Products like RSX will not meet expectations in terms of local styling preferences, price and fuel efficiency. In Rs 1.50 lakh price range, most users in the country would prefer performance-oriented bikes. For scooter lovers, the options could be products like Aprilia SXR-160 and recently launched Yamaha Aerox.     Top 10 Motorcycles 150cc To 200cc Sep 2021 – Apache, Pulsar, R15, MT15, KTM

    Automotive sales across all segments and all OEMs have suffered a huge setback due to a low supply of semiconductor chips in recent months which has been a hindrance in production. The good thing to note is that sales are gradually improving as time passes by and supply of semiconductor chips normalises.
    A total of 90,821 units of motorcycles with displacements between 150cc and 200cc were sold in India in September 2021. During the same period last year, this figure stood at 1,82,075 units which has resulted in a YoY decline of 50.12 percent. The good thing though is that MoM figures increased by 13.57 percent.
    Apache Beats Pulsar By Fair Margin
    The category was topped by the Apache range of sporty commuter motorcycles from TVS by a fair margin with a total monthly sales volume of 40,661 units as opposed to 37,788 units. This resulted in YoY growth of 7.60 percent. In August 2021, TVS dispatched a total of 16,423 units which has led to an MoM growth of 147.59 percent. It was followed by its closest nemesis Bajaj Pulsar with a volume of 14,785 units.
    During September last year, Bajaj sold 46,041 units of Pulsar bikes which translates to a YoY decline of almost 68 percent. In August, the Chakan-based bikemaker sold 28,927 units of Pulsar which led to an MoM decline of 49 percent. The latest entrant to this list is the new-gen Yamaha R15 which generated a volume of 11,792 units in September this year as opposed to 9,590 units registered the previous month.
    Motorcycle Sales 150cc-200cc Segment Sep 2021 vs Sep 2020 (YoY)
    The Japanese brand sold 4,696 units of the entry-level sports bike in September last year which led to YoY growth of 151 percent. Hero MotoCorp broke into the list with Xtreme 160R with a recorded volume of 5,996 units. While it witnessed an MoM growth of 79.31 percent, a YoY decline of 53.63 units was recorded.
    Xpulse 200, MT15, FZ generate decent volume
    Yamaha managed to sell only 4,550 of FZ which translated to YoY and MoM degrowth of 77.46 percent and 40.19 percent respectively. Hero dispatched 3,375 units of Xpulse 200 which led to positive YoY growth as well as MoM growth of 141.42 percent and 156.85 percent. Yamaha dispatched 2,514 units of MT15 which reported a YoY decline of 39.51 percent and MoM growth of 43.49 percent.
    KTM dispatched 2,326 units of the 200 series which included the new generation RC 200. The Austrian brand witnessed a negative YoY growth of 18.16 percent and an MoM growth of 63 percent. Honda broke into the list with Unicorn 160 registering a volume of 1,390 units and was closely followed by its latest offering CB200X with 1,387 units.

    Suzuki was able to sell 1,340 units of Gixxer which translated to a YoY decline of 31.46 percent and MoM growth of 4.77 percent. Rest of the models registered a volume of fewer than 1000 units.     2022 Royal Enfield Scram 411 Spied Again – Cheaper Himalayan Variant

    Upon its launch, the road-biased Royal Enfield Himalayan could be slightly more affordable than its pure adventure sibling
    Royal Enfield will be introducing multiple new models in the coming few months as part of a grand expansion plan. One of those is a more affordable iteration of Himalayan which will be a road-biased version of the same. Speculated to be named Scram 411, this new motorcycle will essentially be a stripped-down version of the adventure bike.
    This upcoming model will cater to motorcyclists looking for a road-biased tourer that can occasionally venture into soft-roading instead of some hardcore trail bashing. Test mules of this bike have been spotted on various occasions over the last few months.
    2022 Royal Enfield Scram 411 – Updated Styling
    The latest set of spy pics are credited to automotive enthusiast @this_is_comet. This new spy images reveal the upcoming Scram 411 in almost undisguised avatar without any major camouflage. From the images, it is evident that a majority of the design of Scram 411 has been inspired by the current Himalayan. However, a few panels seen in the latter have been shed in its road-biased version which gives it a leaner look.
    The most prominent change is the signature exoskeleton of Himalayan has been replaced with tank shrouds. Further, Scram 411 appears to ride on smaller 19-inch front wheels as opposed to 21-inch units in the adventure tourer. However, in both derivatives, the wire-spoked wheels are shod by block pattern, dual-purpose tyres. The luggage rack mounted at the rear is replaced by a single-piece grab rail.
    Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411
    Tail section of Scram 411 also seems to be redesigned with the relative positioning of its taillamp and rear turn indicators appearing slightly different from the current bike. Other styling updates include a revised headlamp mask, redesigned and repositioned front turn indicators, fork gaiters and revised front and rear mudguards.
    It also misses out on a traditional beak-like fender and a large windscreen as seen in the current Himalayan. Other highlights such as a split-seating setup and an upswept exhaust canister have been carried forward from Himalayan.
    Features & Specs
    In terms of features, the upcoming Scram 411 is likely to receive a smaller instrument console that could offer the Tripper Navigation pod as an accessory. Getting into details of its hardware, it will be underpinned by the same frame as Himalayan which will be suspended on telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock at rear. However, the suspension setup will be tweaked for more road-friendly mannerisms.
    Powering Scram 411 will be the same 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled SOHC engine that empowers Himalayan. This motor pushes out 24.3 bhp and 32 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. That said, Royal Enfield may tune the engine slightly differently for the road-biased motorcycle. More

    Bajaj Pulsar 125cc, 150cc Range To Get Updated – New Platform

    The Pulsar range of motorcycles received a fresh breath of life when Bajaj launched two new flagship Pulsar models in the form of Pulsar N250 and Pulsar F250. The series of sporty commuter motorcycles recently completed two decades in the Indian market and has reached cult status for enthusiastic riders on a budget.
    However, competition in recent years has stiffened with TVS pulling new tricks with its Apache brand of motorcycles. Some of the smaller Pulsars now appear to be outdated since they haven’t received a major upgrade in many years. Bajaj, however, has regularly provided all its models with small cosmetic and feature updates.
    New-Gen Pulsar Range
    Currently, the Chakan-based bikemaker retails a bunch of Pulsar models with different engine displacements including 125, 150, 180, 220F, NS125, NS160, NS200 and RS200. At the launch of Bajaj Pulsar 250 range recently, Bajaj announced that they will be discontinuing their existing range of Pulsar motorcycles and updating them to a new generation in the coming months.
    Bajaj has been working on developing new generation models of smaller Pulsars. From the 125cc to the 200cc of Pulsar is expected to get updated in the next one year. Majority of Pulsar sales are achieved by the Pulsar 125 and the Pulsar 150. It is likely that these are the two which get updated first.
    New Gen Pulsar 250
    With the launch of new gen 250cc Pulsars, it is likely that Bajaj might discontinue the 220F. In fact, the F250 looks spiritual successor to the 220F – with a similar semi-faired design. In terms of sales, the 220F manages to sell about 5-7k units a month. If the 220F gets discontinued, the new F250 would benefit directly in sales.
    Possible updates
    The new-gen Pulsars should incorporate a brand new design, a new chassis and updated powertrains. Bajaj could also throw in some new features on the new Pulsar models such as new semi-digital instrument console.
    That said, it would be some time before Bajaj actually introduces the new-gen Pulsar bikes in the country. The Pulsar lineup will most probably start with Pulsar 125 and top out at Pulsar 250 with Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 200 in between. Bajaj is unlikely to go beyond the quarter-litre Pulsars as it already has the Dominar range and is also working with Triumph for a new line of motorcycles.
    New Pulsar 250
    Both Pulsar N250 and F250 are the same motorcycle underneath their slightly different attire. The former gets a naked design while the latter gets a semi-faired styling. There are also slight differences in the riding posture of the two bikes due to different handlebars.
    Powering Pulsar 250 is a 249cc single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled motor that kicks out 24 bhp and 21.5 Nm of peak torque and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.     Two Wheeler Sales Oct 2021 – Hero, Honda, TVS, Bajaj, Royal Enfield

    A total of 14,20,528 units were sold in the domestic market in October. YoY numbers are down by -25.95%, as compared to 19,18,465 units sold in October last year. All leading two-wheeler manufacturers have negative YoY growth in the month. MoM growth is also negative at -3.37%, as compared to 14,70,011 units sold in September 2021. Only Honda has negative MoM growth in October.
    Exports are relatively better, registering YoY growth of 0.52%. A total of 3,36,598 units were exported in October 2021, as compared to 3,34,865 units in October last year. The ones with negative YoY export growth are Bajaj and Royal Enfield. MoM export growth is down by -0.47%, as compared to 3,38,179 units exported in September 2021. Only Bajaj and Honda have positive MoM export growth in October.
    Two Wheeler Sales Oct 2021
    Hero MotoCorp continues to lead with sales of 5,27,779 units in October. YoY sales growth is down by -33.29%, as compared to 7,91,137 units sold in October last year. Market share is at 37.15%. In MoM terms, Hero has made gains of 4.42% in comparison to 5,05,462 units sold in September 2021.
    At number two is Honda with sales of 3,94,623 units in October. Honda has lost a fifth of its YoY sales, as compared to 4,94,459 units sold in October last year. Market share is at 27.78%. MoM numbers are also negative at -14.89%. In September 2021, Honda sales were at 4,63,679 units.

    TVS is third with sales of 2,58,777 units in October. While YoY growth is down by -14.14%, MoM numbers have improved by 6.02%. Sales in October last year were at 3,01,380 units. In September, the company had sold 2,44,084 units. TVS market share in October is at 18.22%.
    At number four is Bajaj with sales of 1,98,738 units in October. YoY growth is down by -26.02%, as compared to 2,68,631 units sold in October last year. Market share is at 13.99%. MoM growth is up by 14.25%, as compared to 1,73,945 units sold in September 2021.
    Royal Enfield is next with sales of 40,611 units in October. YoY growth is down by -35.39%, as compared to 62,858 units sold in October last year. In percentage terms, Enfield has the biggest drop in YoY sales. However, MoM growth is close to 50% in comparison to 27,233 units sold in September 2021. Royal Enfield market share is at 2.86%.

    Bajaj continues to maintain its dominance in exports. The Pune based company exported 1,92,565 units in October. YoY growth is down by -4.51%, as compared to 2,01,659 units exported in October last year. Share is exports is 57.21%. MoM growth is positive at 2.93%, as compared to 1,87,091 units exported in September 2021.
    At number two is TVS with exports of 82,736 units in October. While YoY numbers are up by 2.47%, MoM growth is down -6.44%. TVS share in exports is at 24.58%. Honda is third in the list with exports of 37,584 units in October. Both YoY and MoM numbers are up by 14.86% and 97.01%, respectively. Share in exports is at 11.17%. At number four and five are Hero and Royal Enfield. Exports are at 20,191 units and 3,522 units, respectively. More
