Now, company’s internal presentation shows a Guerrilla 450 based sportsbike that should rival KTM RC 390.Guerrilla 450 Sportsbike IncomingA couple of years ago, a snippet from Royal Enfield’s internal presentation had leaked on the internet. This snippet showed family trees of Royal Enfield’s 350cc portfolio, 650cc portfolio and 450cc portfolio. Based on the 450cc platform, Royal Enfield is planning to launch as many as five motorcycles.Royal motorcycle launch plansTwo of these five motorcycles have been launched already in the form of Himalayan 450 and recently launched Guerrilla 450. Now, the third motorcycle is taking shape and is likely to emerge as the sportiest offering based on Royal Enfield’s Sherpa 450 platform. We’re talking about a semi-faired sportsbike whose silhouette snippet has just leaked on the internet.Owing to its semi-faired nature, it will be positioned as a retro cafe racer of sorts. It will come equipped with improved componentry as opposed to Guerrilla 450 and command a slight price premium. Other upcoming motorcycles based on Sherpa 450 platform are a Scrambler and a more off-road version of Himalayan 450.Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450When launched, this Guerrilla 450 based Sportsbike might take the name of Continental GT-R 450. As in, it has design attributes of a Continental GT 650, but has a racing semi fairing like race-spec Continental GT-R 650. These bikes are track-only and participate in Continental GT Cup racing series.Changes over Guerrilla 450As seen in the leaked snippet of the upcoming Royal Enfield motorcycle, there is an overall identical silhouette as Guerrilla 450. We can see a cowl on top of its pillion seat, which could be removable. Thus striking both practicality and style. The semi-fairing engulfs Guerrilla’s round LED headlights and extends till the fuel tank.Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450From the looks of it, there are USD telescopic front forks replacing the RSU telescopic front forks on Guerrilla 450. Bar-end mirrors are also likely to be on offer as they complete that retro cafe racer look rather well. Alloy wheels look like they’re new and might be 17-inchers at both ends wrapped with fat 160-section at the rear.Guerrilla’s Tripper Dash will be carried over too along with features like Google Maps and music control. Engine will remain to be the same 452cc single-cylinder DOHC 4V liquid-cooled engine with around 40 bhp of peak power and 40 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The dealers complain that even as more than Rs 150 crores have been paid to the company in advance for supply of electric scooters, the company claims otherwise, ‘jo karna hai kar lijiye’ (you are free to take any recourse). In 2021, Hero Electric had stated that they aim to sell 10 lakh electric scooters / EVs per year.Hero Electric Dealers Protest at Gurugram HQOver 200 Hero Electric dealers have been protesting outside the Hero Electric headquarters in Gurugram, seeking dues that run into hundreds of crores. In the past year alone, the dealers have deposited over Rs 150 crores into the accounts of Hero Electric. Some have even attempted suicide. They are left facing the issue of depleting sales due to no batteries and chargers being supplied which are under warranty. Subsidies to be passed on to end-customers as per the FAME-II policy has also not been reimbursed till date. The dealers also have to face angry customers who have been attacking dealers due to no servicing being offered on their vehicles.Hero Electric dealers protest – Says company holding Rs 500 crores byu/UseSimilar3989 inindianbikesNishant Bansal, a Delhi-based dealer and the President of World Federation of ZE EV and Welfare Association has stated that dealers have been left with huge debts. They now seek immediate compensation and reimbursement from the company and the assurance that outstanding warranty and supply of spare parts will be addressed on a war footing. This issue has affected over 50,000 electric vehicles from Hero Electric, leaving scores of customers dissatisfied and angry.A point to be noted is that Delhi High Court along with Punjab and Haryana High Court have also admitted petitions by Hero Electric disputing actions of the Ministry of Heavy Industries and sought recovery of pending subsidies to the tune of over Rs 550 crore since 2021.Hero Electric Management Denies AllegationsIn response to the above contention from company dealers, Hero Electric held a meeting with the dealers at the company headquarters in Gurugram, but refused to pay even a part of the outstanding dues, according to Bansal. He also stated that when urged to pay at least a part of the dues, the management refused, stating ‘jo karna hai kar lijiye’ (you are free to take any recourse). The company claimed that these claims of Rs 500 crore pending amounts is false and mischievous.A spokesperson at Hero Electric stated “Dealers have separate agreements with the company, based on their sales estimates. Production shutdown for the last nine months has caused delays; however, the company has already started production, and dispatch of vehicles has already commenced with a commitment to the dealers to resolve open issues by December 2024”. Meteor 350 has the same configuration for the suspension and braking systems. Both bikes are offered with dual-channel ABS. While Bullet 350 has spoke wheels with tube-type tyres, Meteor 350 comes with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres, depending on variants.Powertrains for both the motorcycles will remain the same. Based on the overall quantum of updates, prices could be increased slightly for Bullet 350 facelift and Meteor 350 facelift. Ola has showcased four electric motorcycle concepts too.Fast forwarding to August 2024, Ola has been teasing its upcoming electric motorcycle. The company has a habit of unveiling new and upcoming products and services on August 15th, India’s Independence Day. This year, the spotlight is on Ola’s electric motorcycle. Let’s take a look.Upcoming Ola Motorcycle TeasedOla Electric Motorcycle TeasedIndian electric scooters and motorcycle segment has emerged as a lucrative option for many automakers. Up until now, there has been a major uproar in electric scooters with many OEMs diving into it. Now, the focus seems to be shifting to electric motorcycles.CEO of Ola Electric, Bhavish Aggarwal, recently teased an electric motorcycle. He took a short test ride of this motorcycle and posted the same on social media. Very little was divulged in that short video. The new teaser, however, sheds some light on what we can expect from Ola’s upcoming motorcycle.Ola Cyber Racer Top VariantFor starters, Ola Electric has only teased this motorcycle from the front-top section. We can see the twin projector LED headlights, similar to S1 electric scooter range. Right within this headlight assembly, above projector headlights, there is a single-piece sleek horizontal LED bar that will act as bike’s DRL (Daytime Running Light).Above the headlights, there seems to be a headlight cowl or some sort of short windscreen. From this brief teaser, it looks like Ola is developing a street naked motorcycle. There are muscular tank shrouds that are accentuated to lend an aggressive stance. Handlebar looks like it is a single-piece unit and is positioned very upright.Ola Cyber Racer Mid VariantWhat to expect?Not a lot is known about Ola electric motorcycle teased, but it will be unveiled on August 15th. It is expected to recreate the same magic as S1 scooters did in scooter body style. Comparing this teaser with Ola’s four electric motorcycle concepts, there is very little semblance.However, when comparing it with Ola’s design patents in the recent past, we can establish some sort of semblance. Ola’s design patents showed the motorcycle in different variants. We expect the same to be true with production-spec model as well.Ola ADV BikePerformance might be in the same ballpark as Ola S1 Pro Gen II with a slightly larger battery pack. There is a good probability of it having a claimed range of over 150 km. If Ola offers the same 7-inch touchscreen dashboard on this motorcycle with Google Maps and a plethora of features and gimmicks, it could be a well-received product. More

      TVS iQube2W retail sales showed 17.17% YoY and 4.91% MoM growth in July 2024 boosted by several economic factorsThe two wheeler (2W) segment in India continues to grow with new product launches and smooth supply chains coupled with improvement in economic conditions. New product launches with advanced features and better fuel efficiency also lent a positive impact to improved sales.The 2W segment has witnessed a 17.17% YoY growth to 14,43,463 units in July 2024, up from 12,31,930 units sold in July 2023. This was a volume growth of 2.11.533 units. MoM sales also improved by 4.91% over 13,75,889 units sold in June 2024. Every two wheeler OEM on this list has posted YoY growth in retail sales with the exception of Classic Legends.Vehicle Retail Sales July 20242W Retail Sales July 2024 YoY GrowthHero MotoCorp was at the top of this list with 3,99,324 unit retail sales last month, a significant growth over 3,61,766 units sold in July 2023. Market share however, dipped to 27.66% from 29.37% on a YoY basis. In July, Hero launched the 2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V at Rs 1.38 lakh. It enters a segment wherein it will compete with the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Honda Hornet 2.0.At No. 2 was Honda with 3,68,753 unit sales, a marked improvement over 2,99,790 units sold in July 2023. Market share improved to 25.55% over 24.33% on a YoY basis. Another 2W OEM to report improvement in retail sales was TVS Motor with 2,51,140 units sold last month. This was over 2,13,628 units sold in July 2023. TVS Motor continues to see high demand for its  Jupiter, Apache, XL, Raider, NTorq and iQube while the company also teased a new scooter which will debut this month.2W Retail Sales July 2024At No. 4 was Bajaj Auto with 1,61,435 units sold last month, up from 1,46,633 units sold in July 2023. Bajaj also commenced sales of the new Freedom 125 which promises a total range of 330 km when combined with CNG. Suzuki followed with YoY improvement in retail sales to 79,796 units, a growth over 62,755 units sold in July 2023. Royal Enfield has witnessed retail sales at 57,325 units last month from 56,328 units sold in July 2023 while Yamaha sales went up to 54,622 units over 45,899 units sold on a YoY basis.Ola Electric Sales SurgeOla Electric saw its retail sales surge in July 2024 to 41,624 units. There had been 19,406 units sold in July 2023 relating to a volume growth of 22,218 units. Ola Electric is now set to enter the electric motorcycle segment and teasers of the Ola bike have been doing the rounds. Once launched, it will take on rivals from Revolt, Oben, Tork etc.Ather Energy has also seen improvement in retail sales last month to 10,087 units, up from 6,685 units sold in July 2023. Lower down the sales order was Greaves (3,154 units), Piaggio (3,026 units), Classic Legends (2,131 units) and Bgauss (1,792 units).
