Honda CBR150R Patent Filed In India – Yamaha R15 V4 Rival

New Honda CBR150RHonda CBR150R was available earlier in India from 2012 onwards, but was later discontinued in 2017 likely due to low salesWith growing preference for entry-level performance-oriented bikes, Honda appears to be planning a second innings for CBR150R in Indian market. Towards that end, a patent for the bike has been filed by the company. When launched here, Honda CBR150R will take on the likes of Yamaha R15 V4.Honda CBR150R design and featuresCBR150R is a true race machine with a sharp nose and aerodynamic body panels. It derives design inspiration from its larger siblings, CBR500R and CBR650R. At the front, the bike gets dual LED headlamps and LED DRLs. Other key features include a compact windscreen, sporty rear-view mirrors, low-set wide handlebar, fully digital instrument console, sculpted fuel tank, upswept exhaust and step-up seats.Side panels are intelligently designed not only for visual exuberance, but also to ensure the least amount of wind resistance. Mix of contrasting shades and eye-catchy graphics further enhance the bike’s sporty profile. USD forks in golden colour is another key highlight. Colour options for Honda CBR150R vary based on the market. For example, the bike is offered in six colour options in Indonesia whereas Malaysia has only two colour options. Some colour themes that come across as extraordinarily striking include Victory Black Red, Honda Racing Red, Dominator Matte Black, Candy Scintillate Red and MotoGP Edition. Colour options for India are likely to be different, as compared to those available in international markets.New Honda CBR150R Patent Filed In IndiaIn terms of ergonomics, Honda CBR150R has a forward-leaning riding stance. It comes with low-set handlebar and rear-set foot pegs. The bike will be a pleasure to ride on open roads, but can be a bit hard to manoeuvre in heavy traffic.Honda CBR150R engine and specsIn international markets, Honda CBR150R is powered by a 149.2cc, liquid cooled DOHC motor. It generates 17.1 ps of max power at 9,000 rpm and 14.4 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. In comparison, primary rival Yamaha R15 V4 utilizes a 155cc motor that makes 18.4 ps and 14.2 Nm. So, while CBR150R is slightly low on power, relatively, it has a bit more torque to offer.Just like R15, Honda CBR150R comes with assist and slipper clutch. It offers multiple benefits such as reduced engine brake impact, improved overall riding comfort and lighter clutch lever pulls.New Honda CBR150RHonda CBR150R utilizes a diamond frame with inverted telescopic front suspension and swingarm with monoshock at rear. The bike has 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with 100/80 front and 130/70 rear tyres. It has disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.It is possible that Honda could introduce Bluetooth-based connectivity features for CBR150R in India. Rival R15 already offers a range of connectivity features, which can be accessed via Y-Connect app. Pricing also needs to be competitive for CBR150R to generate desired sales volumes. More

Bajaj Pulsar 220F Modified As A Modern Day Scrambler

Bajaj Pulsar 220F ModifiedOne of the popular Pulsar motorcycles, semi-faired 220F is known for its sporty design and dynamic performanceCustomization ideas can strike like lightning, transforming stock versions into something truly unique, extraordinary and incredible. Latest example involves a Bajaj Pulsar 220F 2010 model that gets a scrambler-inspired makeover. The modified bike has been aptly named Pulsar 220 FSB (fastest shooting brake). This customization job has been carried out by Renovatio Motor Works.Pulsar 220 FSB key changesStarting with design and styling updates, the stock bike loses much of its fairing. It gets a new black paint in glossy finish, which significantly improves the bike’s sporty profile. Enhancing it further is blue pin striping that can be seen on the fuel tank, side panels, front fender and tail section. Alloy wheels too have the exciting mix of blue against black. At the front, the modified bike gets a customized headlight with inbuilt indicator. Stock handlebar has been replaced with new clip-on handlebars. In other changes, stock split seat has been completely removed and replaced with a handmade single piece unit. It gets sporty diamond-patterned quilted cover.Rear section of the bike has been completely transformed. It gets a fully handmade rear frame with new seat mount and tail light. A smoke wrap has been used for the tail light to ensure it blends with the blacked-out theme.Bajaj Pulsar 220F ModifiedModified Pulsar 220F gets several functional updates as well. It uses a thicker front suspension and new wider triple clamps. Rear stock suspension has been replaced with a new swingarm with linkage unit from Gabriel. Stock wheels have been replaced with thicker and wider units, shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II motorcycle tyres. This should improve traction to ensure better handling and control across varied ride conditions.Bajaj Pulsar 220F ModifiedAnother notable update is the sporty aftermarket exhaust. While the pipe section has brownish golden chrome finish, the exhaust canister sports a blacked-out look.Pulsar 220 FSB engine and specsModified Pulsar 220F utilizes the stock engine without any tweaks. The 220cc, 2-valve, oil-cooled, DTS-i FI motor generates 20.4 ps of max power at 8,500 rpm and 18.55 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.Bajaj Pulsar 220F ModifiedAlthough the engine is the same, the modified bike can still deliver better performance. That’s because it uses a bigger sprocket at the rear. It should be able to draw more torque. Performance could also get a boost with the new K&N air filter that replaces the stock unit. Braking system remains untouched in modified Pulsar 220F. The bike has 280 mm and 230 mm disc at front and rear, respectively. From its looks, modified Pulsar 220F comes across as a capable machine for tackling city streets. Riding stance is slightly aggressive with a low-set handlebar. The bike can make every day commutes a lot more fun and exciting. It also looks capable of getting the praise and envy of onlookers.Source More

2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 Brochure Leaks New Details

Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411Scram 411 will appeal to users looking for a road-biased machine that can tackle city streets, highways and some mild off-roadsIn its current form, Royal Enfield Himalayan is not the type of bike that suffices for normal commuting needs. To improve its usability without losing its core Adv character, Royal Enfield is working on a toned-down version of Himalayan. The new 400cc bike has been spotted multiple times on road tests, revealing its features and capabilities. This new Himalayan variant will be called Scram 411. This has now been confirmed via leaked brochure scans, credit to youtube channel Bullet Guru. Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 official accessories like t-shirts, keychains have also arrived at dealership.Royal Enfield Scram 411 featuresScram 411 has the same basic silhouette as that of Himalayan. It continues using the retro theme, as evident in round headlamp and rear-view mirrors. Other things like fork gaiters, design of fuel tank, wide handlebar, chassis, split seats and upswept exhaust are quite the same as Himalayan. For its road-biased transformation, a number of parts have been removed. For example, Scram 411 does not have the dedicated racks at front and rear. It gets compact-sized tank shrouds at front and single piece grab rail at rear.Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 vs HimalayanAnother key change is the use of a smaller 19-inch front wheel, as compared to 21-inch unit currently used with Himalayan. The bike is still capable of some off-roading, as it continues using wire-spoked wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres. At the front, Scram 411 misses out on windscreen and raised front fender. Shape of turn indicators is expected to be different, as compared to that of Himalayan. There could be some other minor variations to the overall styling of the bike. For a unique identity, some new colour options can be introduced for Scram 411.As reduced pricing could be one of the objectives, Scram 411 could get an updated instrument console without Tripper navigation system. As may be recalled, Tripper was added to Himalayan earlier this year in February. For users who need it, Tripper may be offered as an accessory with Scram 411.Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 FeaturesRoyal Enfield Scram 411 engine and specsEngine will be the same 411cc unit currently in use with Himalayan. The air cooled, single cylinder, SOHC motor generates 24.3 bhp of max power and 32 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It is possible that the engine may be retuned slightly in-line with the needs of a road-biased motorcycle.Much of the hardware will be same such as telescopic front forks and monoshock suspension at rear. Suspension could be made stiffer for better on-road performance. Scram 411 will have disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard. Himalayan has 300 mm and 240 mm disc at front and rear, respectively.[embedded content][embedded content]Launch is expected to take place later this month. Dealer training has started. Apart from Scram 411, Royal Enfield will be launching other new / updated bikes in 2022. The list includes Super Meteor 650, new-gen Bullet 350 and Hunter 350. This is part of the company’s strategy to introduce around one new product every quarter. More

KTM Duke Electric Motorcycle Launch Confirmed – Likely To Be Made In India

KTM Duke Electric MotorcycleThe first electric motorcycle under the KTM brand is most likely to be Electric Duke or E-Duke which is expected to make its official debut this yearPierer Mobility, the parent company of Austrian motorcycle brand KTM, has confirmed the development of a fully electric motorcycle. This battery-powered motorcycle will be retailed under the KTM brand and is expected to share its internals and running gear with its Swedish counterpart. The upcoming battery-powered motorcycle will be based on the Duke range of naked streetfighter bikes from KTM. This bike will share underpinnings and powertrain with Husqvarna E-Pilen which made its debut as a pre-production concept last year. Details of this development have been confirmed by Pierer Mobility recently.KTM Duke Electric MotorcycleThis latest development has come to light through a presentation of preliminary revenues and earnings for the 2021 business year, thus confirming that an E-Duke is in development. Not much has been disclosed as of now apart from the fact that it will be based on its Swedish counterpart E-Pilen. This includes a fully electric powertrain featuring a fixed 5.5 kWh battery pack. This battery pack will deliver energy to an electric motor with a nominal power output of 10 kW (13.4 bhp). Performance figures of E-Duke might be comparable to the brand’s entry-level Duke 125. Although officially not confirmed yet, KTM would be expecting a range of around 100km on a single charge since this is what Husqvarna claimed for E-Pilen.KTM Duke Electric Motorcycle Launch PlansExpected to be affordableIt can be argued that KTM might be taking a conservative approach as far as performance is concerned but that might be a good thing for the brand since it is venturing into uncharted territories of electric mobility. By keeping the performance and price within limit, the Austrian motorcycle brand may be able to target a wider section of buyers in most markets.Coming to its design, the electric Duke or E-Duke, features a similar frame and rear suspension as its Swedish cousin but flaunts a sharper and more aggressive styling that fits the signature design of KTM. The image on display here could be a photograph of an actual prototype instead of a sketch of E-Duke since it is seen standing on a side stand.Prospective India LaunchApart from E-Pilen and E-Duke, Pierer Mobility has confirmed the development of two more electric motorcycles- KTM E10 and Freeride E LV. The former is a youth dirt bike for amateur riders whereas the latter appears to be a scrambler. It will be interesting to see if Pierer Mobility decides to bring E-Pilen and E-Duke to Indian shores in the near future. However, Pierer hasn’t commented on the same yet.If it does, the bikes could be manufactured by Bajaj Auto at their newly designated site for their production facility in Akurdi, Maharashtra. The Indian bikemaker has invested over Rs 300 crore for this manufacturing facility dedicated towards the production of electric vehicles only.Source More

Yamaha New Prices Feb 2022 – FZ, R15, MT15, Aerox, Fascino, RayZR

2022 Yamaha MT15 Facelift to get Bluetooth / updatesThis is the second price hike announced by Yamaha this year; only select models have become costlierTrend of repetitive price hikes, as was witnessed last year, continues in 2022. Global supply chain has been deeply impacted, resulting in shortages of various components. This has led to significant increase in production cost for auto companies. There comes a time when manufacturers can no longer absorb the higher costs and have to pass a part of it to end users.Yamaha February 2022 pricesYamaha price hike in February is largely for its scooters. Prices of almost all Yamaha motorcycles is the same as that in January 2022. Only exception is R15 V3 Blue variant, which has become costlier by Rs 100. New price is Rs 1,58,700. Prices of other popular motorcycles like FZ-FI, FZ-X, FZ 25, MT15 and R15 are the same as earlier.Prices of Yamaha scooters have been increased selectively. Hiked amount is in the range of Rs 1k to Rs 1.2k. Specific variants of RayZR are now costlier by Rs 1k. A similar price hike is applicable for Aerox 155.Highest price hike in February is applicable for select variants of Fascino. These have become costlier by Rs 1,200. In percentage terms, Yamaha scooters have become costlier in the range of 0.76% to 1.66%. The regular variants, which did not have hybrid tech, have been discontinued. Aerox 155 Monster Energy Edition has also been discontinued.Yamaha Scooters Prices Feb 2022 vs Jan 2022Last month in January, Yamaha had increased prices of R15 V4, R15 V4 M, FZ-X, Aerox, and Fascino. Prices were increased in the range of Rs 800 to Rs 2,000. At that time, Yamaha had issued a statement saying that prices were increased due to rise in cost of raw materials and compliance with safety regulation of footrest.Yamaha Scooters Cashback Offer Feb 2022Yamaha Motor India announced a special cash back offer on its Hybrid Scooter models – Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid and RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid. The offer is valid for the entire month of February in Assam, Northeast, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.Below are the Cash back Offer details state-wise:a) Assam, Northeast & West Bengal: Cash Back offer upto Rs. 2,500 on Fascino 125 Fi Hybridb) Maharashtra: Cash Back offer upto Rs. 2,500 on Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid & Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybridc) Tamil Nadu: Cash Back offers upto Rs. 5000 on Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid & Ray ZR 125 Fi HybridYamaha Motorcycles Prices Feb 2022 vs Jan 2022It is unlikely that price hike will have any impact on sales. That’s because most two-wheeler manufacturers have announced price hikes in recent months. Manufacturers favour multiple price hikes over a single price hike per year, as it cushions the impact on end users. Just like last year, it is possible that prices may again be revised later this year.Yamaha electric scooter launchA negative fallout that companies like Yamaha can face in the near future is the shift to EVs. As prices of petrol-powered two-wheelers rise, an increasing number of customers are shifting to electric two-wheelers. There’s not much difference now between the two in terms of pricing. Moreover, users stand to gain from reduced running and maintenance cost of EVs.In view of these developments, Yamaha is readying its first electric scooter for Indian market. It will be the production version of E01 concept that was unveiled at 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. Yamaha electric scooter was recently spotted on road tests in Japan. Some key features include dual-beam headlamp, compact windscreen, large front apron and comfy seat.Although specs have not been revealed, Yamaha electric scooter is likely to have true range of around 70-80 km. It could be offered with swappable batteries to make refuelling a lot more convenient and faster. More

Naon Zero One Electric ScooterNaon Zero One electric scooter isn’t expected to arrive on Indian shores anytime soonIn the past few months, we have been witnessing a surge in electric two-wheelers, both in overseas and Indian markets. The electric mobility revolution has seen the advent of many new brands venture into the auto industry with battery-powered vehicles. The latest in this list is Naon which has officially revealed its first electric scooter prototype. An electric vehicle (EV) startup based out of Germany, Naon has introduced the first battery-powered two-wheeler in the form of Zero One. Since this is just a pre-production prototype, the electric scooter isn’t available for pre-bookings as of yet. Naon will be offering Zero One in two variants- L1e and L3e.The former has been priced at Euros 4,920 (approx. INR 4.20 lakh) while the latter will be made available at Euros 6,420 (approx. INR 5.48 lakh) (both prices inclusive of taxes). However, judging by its unique design and pricing, Zero One is expected to be positioned as a premium electric scooter.Naon Zero One Electric Scooter – DesignSpeaking of design, the styling of Zero One is the biggest differentiator between itself and the rest of the contemporary e-scooters. Naon has adopted an unconventional yet minimalist approach for Zero One which features very few body panels. The overall design is clean and understated while its geometric proportions make the scooter look sharper.Naon Zero One Electric ScooterSome of its styling highlights include a flat single-piece seat, a long and flat footboard, naked handlebars, an exposed rear swingarm and a windshield upfront. Another unique piece of styling is a rectangular single bar LED headlight mounted on the windshield to go along with a sleek tail light setup under the seat.Powertrain SpecsThe thick floorboard also houses the battery pack underneath which gives the scooter a very low centre of gravity which translates into good ride stability. Speaking of the battery pack, Zero One is powered by a removable 2.4 kWh Lithium-ion battery which offers a range of 70 km on a single charge. By installing an additional battery pack, this range could be extended to 140 km on a single charge. However, both variants of the electric scooter offer different levels of performance. The base L1e variant gets a 3 kW peak output which translates to a top speed of 45 kmph. On the other hand, L3e features a larger 7 kW rear hub motor with a peak output of 10 kW (13.4 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque. As a result, this variant has a higher top speed of 100 kmph.Naon Zero One Electric ScooterHardware & FeaturesZero One is underpinned by an aluminium frame which is a USD fork upfront and a mono-shock at rear. The frame and body panels have been made of sustainable materials that can be recycled. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at front and rear which are aided by ABS.As far as features go, Zero One doesn’t offer a dedicated instrument console but instead uses the rider’s smartphone, mounted onto the handlebar, for ride information. Since the batteries are mounted under the floorboard, the scooter should offer decent under-seat storage space. More
