Market leaders Hero Electric, Ola Electric, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor Company, Ampere Vehicles and Ather Energy are keen to increase production capacities to keep up with this added demand and Okinawa Autotech also follows suit.Okinawa Electric Scooter New PlantGurugram based Okinawa Autotech has announced investment to the tune of Rs 800-1,000 crores in the next 3-4 years. The electric automaker currently produces its low speed and high speed electric scooters from its Alwar plant in Rajasthan which has an annual capacity of 1.80 lakh units.In a bid to increase manufacturing capacities to 2 lakh units, the company has commenced operations at its 2nd plant in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. This new plant, inaugurated on 14th February 2022, will see the manufacture of close to 3 lakh electric vehicles per year which will be increased to 10 lakh units in the next 2-3 years.Once full production is achieved, it will be 5 times the capacity of its current plant in Alwar. This increase in production will not only allow the company to meet growing demand in India, but will also cater to global markets. Okinawa is the second largest manufacturer in its segment with a market share of over 20 percent in the electric two wheeler space.Mr. Jeetender Sharma, MD and Founder of Okinawa AutotechOkinawa Dealership Expansion PlansOkinawa sales in the past year have been particularly noteworthy. Sales has been dominated by iPraise+ and Praise Pro electric scooter, though the company portfolio also includes the Ridge Plus, R30, Lite and Dual, all of which are priced between Rs 59,000-1.09 lakh. The company crossed sales of 1,00,000 units milestone in India at the end of last year.Okinawa also has an expansive dealership network of over 400 centers situated in major metros and at Tier II and Tier III locations and across rural markets in the country. Plans are afoot to increase this dealership count to 500 by the end of this year. The company also opened two new Okinawa Galaxy stores in Dehradun and Jaipur.The Okinawa iPraise is currently among the highest selling electric scooters in the country. It has a range of 140 kms and top speed of 60 km/h. The company now plans a brand new electric scooter internally codenamed Oki90. This was shown off as a concept at the 2020 Auto Expo and is now ready to roll off production lines.Upcoming Okinawa Oki90 Electric ScooterViewed in test runs, the Oki90 e-scooter was under complete camouflage though some features came to the fore. It will receive LED headlamp and turn indicators positioned on its front apron, a raised pillion seat and large alloy wheels with disc brakes at the front and rear.The new e-scooter from Okinawa could also receive a full digital console with Bluetooth connectivity and a switch to toggle between Eco and Power modes. It will be powered via a removable lithium-ion battery pack and will be capable of a riding range from 150-180 km per charge. Launch in the next couple of months is on the cards. More

    2022 Yamaha Aerox 155Yamaha Aerox 155 is one of the few Maxi-style scooters currently on sale in IndiaYamaha has unveiled the 2022 iteration of Aerox 155 in Indonesia. The Maxi-style scooter undergoes only minute cosmetic updates in comparison to the 2021 model. The Japanese brand currently offers the 2021 iteration of Aerox in India which made its debut in the country last year.It is expected that the 2022 Aerox will be introduced in India later this year. Unlike India, where Yamaha offers a solitary variant of Aerox, the Maxi-sports scooter is offered in two variants in Indonesia- Connected and ABS. For 2022, Aerox 155 has received six new colour options- four for the Connected variant and two for the ABS trim.2022 Yamaha Aerox 155 – New ColoursThe four new paint schemes on offer in the Connected variant include Matte Black Cyan, Dark Grey Yellow, Black with Red highlights, and Red with contrasting Black bodywork. On the other hand, the ABS variant is offered with two new shades including Matte Black Gold and Matte White Gold. The India-spec model is based on the fully-loaded ABS trim in order to comply with safety norms.Apart from the revision in colour palette, there are no other changes made to the power scooter.     2022 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, Cruiser Spied – Fully Loaded

    2022 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650cc / Shotgun / Cruiser – Golden ForksRoyal Enfield could be launching three new motorcycles under the 650cc motorcycle lineup – Starting with Super Meteor 650Thanks to multiple test mules spied in India and abroad, it has already been established that Royal Enfield is planning to expand its 650cc lineup. This RE segment of motorcycles currently houses two models- Interceptor and Continental GT.We also know that there are going to be multiple versions of the upcoming 650cc motorcycle from the Chennai-based manufacturer. The question arises, how many more iterations of the 650cc platform will we see in the future. It is likely that there are going to be three iterations of the 650cc models.These will be Cruiser 650, Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650. All three bikes will offer a low-slung cruiser-like stance with a long wheelbase and classic retro styling but the motorcycles will differ in their riding stance and characteristics. Let us look how this trio could be differentiated among themselves.2022 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 TourerSuper Meteor will be very closely linked to Cruiser 650 as it borrows part of its name from the brand’s current 350cc cruiser- Meteor. In fact, after reports of ‘Super Meteor’ name being trademarked by Royal Enfield surfaced on the internet, it was speculated that Super Meteor 650 and Cruiser 650 could actually be the same motorcycle. However, we could spot noticeable differences in latest spy shots.2022 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650cc / Shotgun / Cruiser – Silver ForksThe most prominent difference is the riding posture which features a slightly lower-set handlebar which leads to a slightly committed posture with centre-set footpegs. The rider triangle will be different in this case with the less angular distance between the steering and front suspension. Hence, the wheelbase is also expected to be slightly shorter.New spy shots of the RE Super Meteor 650 were clicked somewhere in the UK. These show the motorcycle in production ready stance. There are three different test mules, which can be differentiated by the front forks. One is wearing silver forks, the other has golden while the third one has black. All three RE 650cc test mules are fully loaded with touring accessories.Expected engine, hardware specsHowever, other than the ergonomic variations all three motorcycles will be the same underneath the skin. This includes the same 648cc parallel-twin motor which pumps out 47 bhp at 7150rpm and 52 Nm at 5250rpm in the current 650 Twins. However, in the upcoming bikes, the power figures or power delivery could be altered to suit their nature. It is mated to a constant-mesh 6-speed gearbox.2022 Royal Enfield Cruiser 650 – USD ForksCycle parts of all three upcoming bikes will be identical to each other. Suspension setup will consist of a pair of upside-down forks or standard forks at front and twin shock absorbers at rear. Braking duties include single disc brakes at both ends with ByBre callipers aided by a dual-channel ABS as standard. All three bikes should feature the Tripper NAvigation pod for turn-by-turn navigation.Cruiser 650This will be a proper cruiser motorcycle in a similar line with cruisers from Harley Davison and Indian Motorcycles. It will have the longest wheelbase among the three bikes with a greater angle between steering and front suspension. This will also affect the rider’s triangle which will offer very relaxed riding ergonomics with a pulled-back handlebar, forward-set footpegs and a low seat.Shotgun 650As mentioned earlier, Shotgun 650 is likely to be based on the SG650 Concept which is a single-seater bobber. Like Meteor 350, it is expected to offer a low-set handlebar with a slightly committed ride posture. However, the most striking difference will be the sole rider’s seat. All models retailed under the portfolio of the Chennai-based bikemaker have undergone some sort of aftermarket modifications at some point in time.The latest case is a custom-built Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 that has been modified as a nice-looking scrambler. This prototype has been built by an aftermarket custom workshop called Rebellious Garage which is based out of Mexico.Royal Enfield Riot 650cc ScramblerSpeaking of its design, despite a complete overhaul in styling, the workshop has managed to retain the old-school retro charm of Royal Enfield. The first thing one notices is the flattened seat with a ribbed pattern which should ensure a comfortable ride.The big update is the all-black theme adopted by the motorcycle that too with a complete matte finish which gives it a stealthy appearance. A video of the same has been uploaded by the workshop on YouTube divulging its design.[embedded content][embedded content]Barring the main frame, all components including the fuel tank, handlebar, engine casing, exhaust pipes and other cycle parts have been given a matte black treatment. As with the norm with most scramblers, front and rear fenders have been chopped short. Upfront, we witness a new circular LED headlamp that gives the motorcycle a neo-retro vibe.The handlebar is now set taller and mounted on custom mounts, along with aftermarket rearview mirrors and handle grips. Turn indicators have been removed from both ends which could be a safety hazard.Front forks get a distinct appearance due to the gloss black finish to the casing and shorter fork gaiters. The bike gets a new offset instrument console which is slightly left-oriented.Royal Enfield Riot 650cc – Scrambler based on INT 650Not just the fenders but the entire frame underpinning the bike has been shortened and bent upwards at the tail section. Further, stock side panels have been replaced by aftermarket units.The tiny rear fender flaunts a tiny round LED taillamp. It also gets a chunky underbelly bash plate with ‘Rebellious’ branding. Gloss black treatment provided to the twin exhaust canisters creates a nice contrast with the tailpipes finished in matte black.Royal Enfield Riot 650cc – Scrambler based on INT 650Updates To HardwareSimilarly, rear shock absorbers have been painted black including the Nitrox cylinder which is golden-coloured in the stock model. The custom number plate holder has been mounted on the left swingarm. The bike continues to roll 17-inch wire-spoked wheels but spokes have been painted black too. The wheels are now shod with knobby dual-purpose tyres from Bridgestone with 140/80 section at rear and 130/80 section at front.No changes have been mentioned for the powertrain department. The stock Interceptor is powered by a 648cc parallel-twin engine which kicks out 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch. More

    Bajaj Motorcycle Prices Feb 2022 – Pulsar, Dominar, Avenger, Platina, CT100

This list includes a total of 26 motorcycles and excludes the only scooter offering- Chetak Electric. Some of the models have seen a revision in prices, although in most cases the hike in prices is nominal.Bajaj CT, Platina Prices Feb 2022The Bajaj lineup starts with the CT range of bikes- CT100, CT110 and CT110X. Prices for CT100 start at Rs 53,696 while CT 110 gets a starting price of Rs 58,925. CT110X, which is a retro-style version of CT110, is offered in two variants- one with a kick start and the other with an electric start.The former is priced at Rs 58,272 whereas the latter is offered at a price of Rs 63,808. The bikemaker’s second entry-level offering is Platina which is also offered in 100cc and 110cc avatars. The former is priced at Rs 59,309 whereas the latter is available at a price of Rs 63,846. There is also a Disc brake version of Platina 110 which is priced at Rs 68,384.Avenger & Pulsar prices Feb 2022The company has two offerings in the cruiser range- Avenger Street 150 and Avenger Cruise 220. The former is pegged at Rs 1,08,902 while the latter can be had at Rs 1,33,613. A majority of the sales volume for Bajaj comes from the Pulsar range of sporty commuter motorcycles which comprises a long list of models with different configurations.Bajaj Prices Feb 2022Pulsar series starts with Pulsar 125 which is available in drum and disc brake variants. The former variant is available at Rs 80,090 and Rs 82,701 while the latter is available at Rs 86,099 and Rs 88,931. Each variant is offered with either a single-piece seat or split seats. Prices for Pulsar 150 start at Rs 1,00,915 for the Neon variant. The standard single-disc variant of Pulsar 150 is priced at Rs 1,07,642.The twin-disc variant of Pulsar 150 has been priced at Rs 1,10,643. Pulsar 180 has been priced at Rs 1,16,653. Although the Pulsar 220F has been unofficially discontinued by Bajaj from its lineup, it continues to feature in this list. Price for the semi-faired sports tourer is pegged at Rs 1,34,566. The second offering in the 125cc category from the Pulsar brand is Pulsar NS125 which is priced at Rs 99,770.Flagship Motorcycles Prices: Pulsar 250, DominarThe Pulsar NS range gets two more models in the form of NS 160 and NS 200. Both motorcycles are offered in a solitary variant each which are priced Rs 1,19,418 and Rs 1,36,090 respectively. Pulsar RS 200 is priced at Rs 1,64,719. The latest offering in the Pulsar range of bikes is the flagship Pulsar 250 which is available in two derivatives- N250 and F250.Both motorcycles have witnessed a minute revision in prices and are now available at Rs Rs 1,39,117 and Rs 1,40,915 respectively.
