Braking hardware consists of a similar 282mm disc at front and 220mm disc at rear.However, this time they will be aided by a dual-channel ABS instead of a single-channel ABS offered in the outgoing unit. The new MT-15 continues to roll on 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with 100/80 front and 140/70 rear tubeless tyres.Powertrain Specs & FeaturesComing to its powertrain, MT-15 derives the same 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with VVA technology from R15 V4. However, the motorcycle has its fair share of drawbacks as well. For instance, while its off-road dynamics are excellent, it doesn’t have the necessary grunt for sharp overtakes and a spirited performance on tarmac.In regards to this, the Chennai-based bikemaker is developing a more powerful version of Himalayan which will be more responsive to throttle inputs. Recently, a test mule of the same was spied for the first time. Another testing prototype of the more potent Himalayan was spotted yet again.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 New EngineRoyal Enfield Himalayan 450 will be a completely new motorcycle developed from scratch and might even receive a new brand name. Getting into details, it will be powered by an all-new 450cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that will dish out around 40 bhp of peak power. This unit is expected to be paired with a 5-speed gearbox.Like other contemporary ADVs, the new Himalayan 450 will focus on delivering better performance in low and mid-range. Moreover, this powertrain is expected to be lighter than the existing Himalayan which should also aid in better fuel efficiency figures as well. It will be suspended on upside-down forks up front and a mono-shock at rear. Brakes are expected to be larger single disc units at both ends likely to be aided by a switchable ABS expected to be carried forward from Himalayan.It also seems to carry forward the same 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoked wheel setup from Himalayan. They are likely to be wrapped around by tubeless rubber with block pattern dual-purpose tyres. Other highlights include a large windscreen, a signature beak-like fender, an upswept exhaust canister and a large luggage rack at rear.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Sketch by BikewaleExpected LaunchAs far as features go, it could be laced with gizmos like traction control, ride by wire, and 3 ride modes (road, rain and off road). It is also seen with a unique circular instrument console which is positioned almost parallel to the round headlamp. While there are no official details regarding its launch, we expect it to make its debut sometime next year. Once the Himalayan 450 is launched, the existing Himalayan 411 is likely to be discontinued.Royal Enfield is also working on Himalayan 450 Dakar edition, which will be the top-spec version of the Himalayan 450. It is currently codenamed as K1X. It will get a more powerful engine, upgraded suspension, tubeless spoke wheels, auxiliary fuel tank. Not to be confused with the underwhelming Cliq 110 that was available in India between June 2017 and April 2020, this scooter is a successor to Click 150.Unlike Click 110, Click 160 is touted to offer a very strong performance on pulling the throttle. It gets a new and more powerful engine and a few more features in comparison to its predecessor. The power scooter also receives some notable design updates which make it look sharper than before.Honda Click 160 – HighlightsThe most striking highlight of Click’s design is a sharp front fascia featuring a faired body with cuts and creases. It receives a twin LED headlamp setup mounted on the front apron that enhances its aggressive appeal while indicators are mounted above on the side fairing. The angry-looking face of the scooter is reminiscent of Honda’s flagship sports bikes in the CBR range.Click 160 rides on redesigned alloy wheels finished in matte black or gold, thus lending the scooter a sportier appearance. It features a single-piece saddle with a step-up pillion seat which looks spacious and comfortable. This powertrain returns an output of 15 bhp and a peak torque of 13.8 Nm. Underpinnings on the new Click 160 are basic consisting of conventional telescopic forks up front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at rear. Braking duties are handled by single disc brakes at both ends aided by optional ABS.Honda Click 160 has been priced at THB 63,500 in Thailand which roughly translates to INR 1.44 lakh. This scooter is unlikely to reach Indian shores anytime soon, however, the Japanese brand may introduce the PCX scooter in the country.     Top 10 Electric Two Wheelers Mar 2022 – Hero, Ola, Okinawa, Ampere, TVS

    Electric two wheeler sales increased 370 percent in March 2022 on a YoY basis with Hero MotoCorp in the leadOla climbs the list, and takes the No 2 spot.The EV market is on the path of growth in India, more particularly, the two wheeler segment. Recent positive changes in EV policy via FAME, coupled with added subsidies being offered by various State Governments have been a game-changer. Rising fuel costs have also turned the buyer’s attention towards electric two wheelers along with attractive prices, lower running costs and lesser maintenance.FADA has released retail sales numbers of electric two wheelers. Sales have increased 370 percent on a YoY basis in March 2022 to 49,607 units, up from 10,558 units sold in March 2021. MoM growth stood at 53 percent from 32,455 units sold in February 2022.Top 10 Electric Two Wheeler Mar 2022 – Hero, Ola, OkinawaHero Electric sales in March 2022 stood at 13,023 units, up 149 percent against 5,235 units sold in March 2021. It was also a 77 percent MoM growth over 7,360 units sold in February 2022. Hero Electric has just introduced the new Optima CX e-scooter. This is an upgrade from the Optima HX and is priced at Rs 62,190 for its single-battery variant and Rs 77,490 for the dual-battery variant.Surpassing both Okinawa and Ampere by a significant margin and at No. 2 on this list was Ola Electric with its two wheeler sales at 9,127 units. This was a 134 percent MoM increase over 3,907 units sold in February 2022.Electric Two Wheeler Sales March 2022 – FADA / Vinkesh GukatiOkinawa Autotech was the third best selling electric two wheeler maker in March 2022 with sales of 8,284 units, up 441 percent over 1,530 units sold in March 2021. It was a MoM growth of 40 percent from 5,925 units sold in February 2022. Okinawa also recently introduced the OKHI-90 electric maxi-scooter in India priced at Rs 1,21,886 (post Fame II subsidy). Buyers can also avail of a Rs 5,000-15,000 lower cost thanks to state-level subsidy.Sales of Ampere increased 574 percent on a YoY basis to 6,338 units in March 2022 from 941 units sold in March 2021. MoM sales increased 47 percent over 4,304 units sold in February 2022. Increased demand for electric two wheelers were also reported by TVS Motor, Ather and PUR Energy. TVS Motor sales increased 749 percent YoY to 2,267 units from 267 units sold in March 2021. MoM sales increase stood at 53 percent over 1,482 units sold in February 2022.Ather, Revolt, PUR EVAther Energy sales increased 109 percent to 2,226 units in March 2022 from 1,064 units sold in March 2021 and remained flat on a MoM basis from 2,232 units sold in February 2022. Ather 450X has seen increased demand and last month the company rolled out of its 25,000th e-scooter in 25 months of launch.Revolt Intellicorp sales increased significantly on a YoY basis. Sales which had stood at just 53 units in March 2021 stood at 1,409 units in March 2022 relating to a 2,558 percent growth. MoM sales increased 25 percent over 1,128 units sold in February 2022. Revolt RV400 e-motorcycle is priced at Rs 1.24 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is the only offering in the company’s current portfolio.Jitendra and Benling India saw sales of 1,034 units and 1,013 units in the past month respectively. MoM sales of Jitendra also increased 84 percent from 562 units sold in February 2022 while MoM sales of Benling dipped 12 percent over 1,149 units sold in February 2022. PUR Energy sales increased 204 percent YoY to 2,066 units, up from 679 units sold in March 2021. MoM sales were up 45 percent from 1,427 units sold in February 2022.Bajaj At No 11Bajaj Auto also posted a 466 percent YoY growth to 827 units, up from 146 units sold in March 2021 while MoM sales dipped 37 percent from 1,314 units sold in February 2022. Even as the Bajaj Chetak e-scooter continues to face much competition in this segment, the company plans to reinforce its Chetak sub-brand with multiple electric scooters over next three-five years.Sales of electric two wheelers continued with GoGreen (598 units), MEW (488 units), KLB (324 units) and RGM (138 units). There were others in this segment such as Elthor (8 units), ECO Fuel (85 units) and Lectrix (41 units) along with others that also contributed a few numbers to this growing segment.Interestingly, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter is also mentioned in the list.     125cc Motorcycle Sales Feb 2022 – Shine, Pulsar, Glamour, Raider

    KTM has witnessed the highest downfall in terms of YoY and MoM volume with only 572 units dispatched across the country in FebruaryImage – Deepak Rao Vlogs125cc segment of commuter motorcycles has always been a hot favourite for Indian consumers. Although in recent times the space has witnessed a downfall due to multiple ongoing crises, it is still one of the most lucrative segments of the two-wheeler segment in the country.A total of 1,71,171 units of motorcycles with engine displacements around 125cc were sold across the country last month. This figure is 28,300 units lesser than the cumulative monthly volume of June 2022 which has resulted in an MoM drop of 14.19 percent.Honda CB Shine- Leader of 125cc SegmentSimilarly, it also witnessed a YoY decline of 21.89 percent with 47,973 motorcycles sold last year in January. Sales chart in this segment for February this year was led by Honda CB Shine with a total monthly volume of 81,700 units. The Japanese brand recorded a 29.55 percent YoY decline and a 22.31 percent MoM Decline for Shine in February.Bajaj Auto was able to sell 30,006 units of 125cc Pulsars across the country in February this year. During the same period last year, Bajaj dispatched 39,323 units of Pulsar 125 which translated to a YoY drop of 23.69 percent. In January this year, Pulsar 125 registered a monthly volume of 44,181 which has led to an MoM decline of 32 percent.Motorcycle Sales 125cc Feb 2022 vs Feb 2021 (YoY)Hero MotoCorp Witnesses MoM GrowthHero Glamour occupied the third spot with 27,406 units sold in February this year. This figure stood at 27,375 units which resulted in a marginal YoY growth of 0.11 percent. Earlier in January this year, Hero MotoCorp was able to dispatch 24,473 units of Glamour which resulted in a 12 percent MoM growth. Glamour was followed by its sibling Super Splendor with a total monthly volume of 16,743 units registered in February.During the same period last year, the 125cc iteration of Splendor recorded a volume of 34,276 units which led to YoY degrowth of 51.15 percent. The largest two-wheeler manufacturer was able to sell only 13,503 units of Super Splendor in January this year translating to an MoM growth of 24 percent.TVS Raider Records Growth, KTM sales fallTVS broke into the list with Raider which recorded 14,744 units sold in February this year. The sporty 125cc commuter registered a volume of 11,377 units in January 2022 which has resulted in an MoM growth of 29.59 percent.Motorcycle Sales 125cc Feb 2022 vs Jan 2022 (MoM)KTM was able to dispatch only 572 units of its 125 range of motorcycles comprising Duke 125 and RC 125. Coming to engine spec, Meteor 350 is powered by a 349cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, long-stroke motor which is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.This powertrain is capable of dishing out 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. Coming to hardware, Meteor is underpinned by a dual-cradle frame which is suspended on telescopic forks upfront and twin shock absorbers. Braking duties are handled by single 300mm and 270mm discs at front and rear respectively which are aided by a dual-channel ABS.Upcoming Royal Enfield ModelsAt least two more models based on the J-series platform are currently under development- Hunter 350 and new-gen Bullet 350. Both these upcoming motorcycles were spotted testing together recently. While Hunter is expected to be launched in the market later this year, new-gen Bullet 350 is expected to hit showrooms in 2023.
