2022 Kawasaki Ninja 400 Teased Ahead Of India Launch

The updated Kawasaki Ninja 400 is expected to command a premium of Rs 25,000 over the older model2022 Kawasaki Ninja 400While Kawasaki’s India lineup starts with the locally manufactured Ninja 300, the brand’s global range in most of its international markets starts with the 400 range comprising Ninja 400 and Z400. Both motorcycles have now been revealed in their updated iterations.2022 Kawasaki Ninja 400, Z400 RevealedFor 2022, Kawasaki has updated emission norms for the fully-faired sports bike as well as the naked streetfighter. Ninja 400 and Z400 now comply with the mandatory Euro 5 emission norms in European markets. Kawasaki offered Ninja 400 in India previously before it was discontinued in early 2020 when BS6 emissions kicked in.With the sports bike adhering to Euro 5 norms, it is on its way to making a return to the Indian market. In fact, the Japanese brand has also teased the fully-faired sports bike on its social media handles hinting at its imminent launch in India. Both Ninja 400 and Z400 are based on the same platform and underpinnings. While Ninja 400 flaunts a fully-faired look with twin LED headlight units and a clip-on handlebar, Z400 gets an aggressive streetfighter design with a wide handlebar. Both motorcycles pack common visual highlights, split-type seats, a slim raised tail section, a muscular 14-liter fuel tank and an upswept exhaust.[embedded content][embedded content]17-inch designer alloy wheels are also common for both bikes. There have been no styling updates on either of the bikes except for new colour schemes on both models. Ninja 400 is available in two colour options including Lime Green with Ebony (KRT Edition) and Metallic Carbon Gray with Metallic Matte Carbon Gray.Powertrain, Hardware SpecsPowering both speed machines is a 399cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that generates 44.3 bhp and 37 Nm of peak torque. While the power figure remains identical, torque output has declined by 1 Nm. Although, it shouldn’t be a deal-breaker since kerb weight of both motorcycles remains the same. This power plant is mated to a six-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch which is claimed to be 20 percent lighter than its previous iteration. No changes have been made to the cycle parts as well since both bikes continue to be suspended on 41mm telescopic forks up front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock. Braking is handled by a 310mm petal disc at front and a 220mm disc at rear which are aided by a dual-channel ABS.2022 Kawasaki Ninja 400 – India launch teaserFeatures & PriceOther features on offer include a part digital and a part analogue instrument cluster. We would have liked it if the Japanese superbike brand could have updated the latest avatars of both models with a fully digital TFT display. The updated Ninja 400 has been priced at 6,250 GBP (around INR 6.04 lakh) while Z400 now costs 6,000 GBP (around INR 5.8 lakh). Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter Patent Leaks – Gets Chain Drive

Launch of the upcoming Suzuki Burgman electric scooter is still a couple of years awaySuzuki Burgman Electric Scooter Patent LeaksIt has already been established that Suzuki is working on an electric scooter specifically for the Indian market. Based on Burgman Street 125, this upcoming e-scooter has been spotted testing on Indian roads on multiple occasions. Spy shots suggest that design of the electric scooter is similar to that of its petrol-powered counterpart.Earlier in April this year, it was reported that development of the Burgman electric scooter had been delayed by two years. According to Suzuki officials, development time of the upcoming electric scooter has been extended thanks to high ambient temperatures in our country.Suzuki Burgman Electric Patents LeakedIn recent times, there have been many mishaps related to electric two-wheelers across the country due to high temperatures during the summer. Hence, Suzuki has decided to take some extra time to failsafe their technology. Meanwhile, a new patent drawing of the upcoming electric scooter has been leaked online. The latest patent image reveals a few significant variations in comparison to the previous patent leaked some months ago.As per the latest patent drawing, the electric scooter is built around the same frame as the petrol-powered Burgman Street 125. However, this time it features a chain drive system which is unusual for an electric two-wheeler. This chain drive comes out of an AC motor placed far forward on the frame under the seat to drive the rear wheel.Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter Patent LeaksAdvantages of chain drive over belt driveA chain drive system has many advantages over a belt drive setup. For instance, the belt drive setup offers a transmission efficiency of 91-94 percent whereas in case of a conventional chain drive it stands at 97-98 percent. Moreover, a belt drive setup is more expensive than a chain drive unit. Also, chain drive is more rugged and adept in tackling harsh Indian conditions like monsoon, bad roads, etc.Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter Patent LeaksAs a belt always needs to be in a tight position, it will keep the motor, wheel axles and ball bearings under load all the time. On the other hand, a chain drive is always designed with a slack and can transmit power even under extreme slack. Only disadvantage of a chain drive system over a belt drive setup is the constant maintenance the former warrants.Other HighlightsFurther, an AC-DC inverter has been placed smartly underneath the floorboard that converts the battery’s DC output to AC for the motor. A DC-AC converter is mounted on the side of the battery pack to step the voltage down. Suzuki has made use of a fixed battery pack instead of a removable unit. This comes as a surprise, since Suzuki has formed a consortium with other Japanese brands to develop swappable battery technology. The battery looks big enough and should offer more range on a full charge in comparison to a similarly rated removable battery. One major downside is that the battery pack may eat a large chunk of the boot under-seat storage which might affect its practicality. More

Husqvarna India Sales May 2022 At 0 Units – Vitpilen, Svartpilen

Husqvarna India domestic sales in May 2022 comes to a standstill: exports fall to less than half2022 Husqvarna Svartpilen 250. Image – Dev MTR.Bajaj Auto introduced Husqvarna India in 2019. And the group is poised to work along the footsteps of KTM here. Another business unit championed by Bajaj. As part of its pro-biking initiatives, Husqvarna sales estimates have been met with initial challenges in India. This is largely owing to market disruption sowing to Covid-19 lockdowns through 2020 and 2021.Henric Andersson, CEO comments: “The strong demand from the previous record year continues, but the challenging global supply chain situation is affecting us particularly in the latter part of the first quarter. However, the gardening season is ahead of us, we have a record order backlog and we are taking decisive mitigating measures in order to increase production throughout the season”.Husqvarna India Sales May 2022Husqvarna India domestic sales have been below a bare minimum for April and May 2022. In April, the company reported 5 units in sales. In May, that number was down to naught. A year earlier, the output was naturally starved owing to limitations in place to curb the spread of Covid-19.Correspondingly, exports too were on a decline. YoY May 2022 Husqvarna exports are reported at 776 units having halved from 1,610 units. Volume loss stood at 834 units. 401 exports led at 608 units. MoM exports fell from 762 units. 126 units of 125 were exported, and 42 of 250. 125 exports fell from 420 units. 250 exports fell from 211 units. 200 exports fell to naught from 217 units.Husqvarna India Sales May 2022Husqvarna 250 Twins priceMoM exports fell from 2,458 units. Decline stood at 68.43 percent at volume loss of 1,563 units. 401 exports fell from 1,762 units. 125 exports fell from 420 units. 250 exports fell from 204 units, and 200 exports were down from 72 units.Last month, the company revised the price of the Husqvarna 250 twins by about 2 grands. This puts Vitpilen pricing at Rs 2,17,152, and Svartpilen at Rs 2,17,779. When reporting estimated net sales for Q1 2022, Husqvarna Group emphasised on increased supply chain challenges.Global supply chain shortageWhile demand was strong across product categories, continual global supply chain challenges equated to components/parts shortages. And longer lead times result in delayed deliveries. Given the circumstances, the company estimated reduced production in Q1 2022. And the same situation appears to have trickled into Q2 2022. April and May production and sales/exports in India could be echoing a supply shortage situation.Husqvarna India Exports May 2022Globally, all eyes are on geopolitical developments in Europe. The current situation has no doubt choked and disrupted supply channels. This ongoing supply procurement troubles and urgency continues to boost buoyancy in raw material purchase prices. Simultaneously, energy and transportation costs are on the rise. Efforts are on to mitigate increased pricing trends while reducing backlogs. More

With Indian economy recovering and a low base in May 2021, we see a healthy 225.54% YoY growth in May 2022Modified RE 650 by Neev MotorcyclesRoyal Enfield has been dominating the 500cc+ motorcycle market with its flagship Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. Both of these bikes are powered by the same 648cc parallel-twin engine. Even though it isn’t exactly cheap in foreign markets, it is in India. This is reflected in the sales figures as we take a deeper look.500cc+ Motorcycles Sales May 2022With 1357 units sold in May 2022, Royal Enfield 650 twins (Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 combined) top the chart with 314.98% YoY growth over just 321 units sold in May 2021. 650 twins are the undisputed champions of this segment with 81.89% market share in May 2022. Newly launched Tiger 660 registered sales of 10 in May 2022.Looking at the sales chart and analysing the YoY growth of 500cc+ motorcycles, we can see that the lower end of the price bracket of this category is still performing very well. It is at the expensive side of things, where numbers go down. Royal Enfield’s 650 Twins are the clear leader though with around 82% market share. Immediately after that is the Kawasaki Z900 and at Rs.8.86 lakh (ex-sh) it is the cheapest 4-cylinder engine-powered motorcycle currently on sale in India. More
