Exports last month rose to 28,322 units from 20,044 units.Volume gain stood at 8,278 units at 41.30 percent growth. Total sales were up at 3,83,882 units from 2,32,497 units. Volume gain stood at 1,51,385 units at 65.11 percent growth. The YoY period up for comparison though isn’t without incident. A year earlier, businesses functioned at limited capacity in accordance with local rulings in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.Sales growth in Q2 2022MoM domestic sales are up from 3,20,844 units at volume gain of just under 35k units. Sales growth stood at 10.82 percent. Exports fell from 32,344 units at volume loss of 4k units. Sales decline is reported at 12.44 percent. Top selling models from Honda include Activa, CB Shine, Dio, Grazia, CB350, Unicorn, Hornet, etc.Honda Two Wheeler Sales June 2022Activa scooter lead uncontestedThere’s rather little that perturbs Honda two wheelers’ monthly sales. On the domestic front. Bajaj and TVS are the only two manufacturers that could vie for 2nd spot, but the sales gap isn’t an easy one to transcend. The same is true for Honda in comparison to Hero’s top of the table clout. The situation ensures Honda 2Ws continue to sit comfortably at 2nd spot, month after month. In truth, it’s been years now.In fact, Honda’s two wheeler business model is unique. While others in the top order rely on a motorcycle as a bestseller, Honda’s bestseller is a scooter. In this regard, Activa hasn’t only stood the test of time but has gone from strength to strength. This unique proposition ensures that scooter buyers continue to flock to Honda in droves. Add to this its bestselling motorcycle, CB Shine. Sales volume for which is over a lakh each month. The only other manufacturer that follows the same pattern is Suzuki with its Access.Growth expectation for FY23Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, “The growth expectations with which we set out in the beginning of FY ’23 is gradually turning into a reality. Timely arrival of monsoons has impacted the economic indicators favourably. We expect the coming months to sustain this upward trend as more customers look for two-wheeler mobility options.”With H1 results being a mixed bag, the industry is now focused on a favourable outcome for the monsoon season. This will be quickly followed up by the onset of a rather long festive season. More

Hero Vida Electric Scooter Can Use HERO Branding – Hero Moto Vs Hero Electric

Hero MotoCorp and Hero Electric are two separate companies – Both are involved in a legal battleImage for reference. It may be recalled that Hero Electric had sought an injunction against Hero MotoCorp from use of the trademark ‘Hero’ for its electric vehicles. The issue was referred to the Delhi High Court last year by Vijay Munjal, along with his son Naveen Munjal, who owns Hero Electric, the largest electric two-wheeler company. This legal battle was against his cousin Pawan Munjal, Promoter and Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, claiming that the company had exclusive ownership rights of the ‘Hero’ brand for its upcoming lineup of its electric and eco-friendly products. In a recent ruling by the Delhi High Court, Hero MotoCorp has been granted permission to use the ‘Hero ’trademark for selling its electric vehicle lineup.Hero Moto Vs Hero Electric – RulingThe tribunal, which consisted of former Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and retired judges Indu Malhotra and Indermeet Kaur observed that Hero MotoCorp had claimed the use of ‘Hero’ for its upcoming electric vehicle lineup since 2012. The company is now close to launch of its electric vehicles under brand name ‘Vida – powered by Hero’.Hero MotoCorp’s Vida brand will house all electric vehicle initiatives and the company has even filed a patent for names such as Vida, Vida MotoCorp, Vida EV, Vida Electric, Vida Scooters and Vida Motorcycles for its EV endeavor.Hero Electric Scooter Optima HXThe Tribunal took into account the fact that Hero MotoCorp had spent over Rs 7,000 crores to enhance goodwill and gain reputation of the ‘Hero’ brand over the past 10 years as compared to Rs 65 crores which had been invested by the Naveen Munjal Group to promote ‘Hero Electric’.The Tribunal also noted that Hero MotoCorp had also made hefty investments to the tune of Rs 400 crores into their VIDA project along with investments made in Ather Energy, the Bengaluru based company for its fast charging technology. Hero owns 38 percent in this company and both firms are developing fast charging infrastructure.Good News For Hero MotoCorpThis ruling will boost Hero MotoCorp’s confidence, ahead of the launch of their first electric scooter later this year. Imagine if Hero Moto had to sell their electric scooters without the brand Hero or their existing dealership network. That would have been a nightmare for the No 1 motorcycle brand in the world.Hero MotoCorp Electric Scooter – Under VIDA BrandAs much as this is good news for Hero MotoCorp, it is bad news for Hero Electric, who is one of the leading electric scooter manufacturer in India. By default, most in the country mean Hero MotoCorp, when they refer to a Hero vehicle. Even today, there are people who think Hero Electric and Hero MotoCorp are the same company. If the arrival of new EV rivals like Ola, Ather was not enough, they will have a new problem at hand once Hero MotoCorp launches their range of Hero Vida electric scooters and motorcycles. Hero MotoCorp was scheduled to launch their first electric scooter in July. But parts shortage has forced them to delay the launch to later this year. More

Royal Enfield Himalayan Two New Colours – Glacial Blue, Dune Brown

Royal Enfield Himalayan gets 2 additional colours from the company’s previous colour paletteRoyal Enfield Himalayan – New ColoursRoyal Enfield takes credit for properly rejuvenating the adventure-tourer motorcycle genre for the masses. Okay, we had Impulse from Hero MotoCorp before Himalayan. But we never fully appreciated Impulse’s brilliance until it was discontinued. Enthusiasts went overboard and actually swapped its 155cc engine with Karizma’s 223cc engines and called it Karipulse. It was not an actual thing from Hero, but it became a thing even though it wasn’t road legal. We’ll save our rant on the Government’s modification laws for vehicles in India for another day. But two manufacturers seemed to take notice of the Karipulse. They were Royal Enfield and Hero themselves. With the launch of Himalayan, Royal Enfield beat Hero MotoCorp to the finish line of launching an adventure tourer by three years. It was launched in 2016. In BS3 guise, Himalayan was a purpose-built motorcycle designed to take on the, well, Himalayan Range. If they wanted to take on Western Ghats, they would have named it Western Ghats. But Royal Enfield is also developing a bigger and more sophisticated 450cc Himalayan and in the meantime, to keep the aging product fresh, Himalayan 411 gets two more colours to spice things up.Royal Enfield Himalayan Two New ColoursRoyal Enfield has introduced two new colour schemes for Himalayan. These new colours don’t resemble any of the colours Himalayan got before. They stand out like they were intended to. One of the colours resembles the dark pastel yellow colour that Royal Enfield Classic range of motorcycles used to get. It was a special edition on Classic 500 in particular which is now discontinued, and was dubbed as Desert Storm. On Classic 350 that is currently on sale, it is called Single Desert Sand. On the Himalayan, it is called Dune Brown.2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan Dune Brown ColourBut unlike a monotone finish on Classic 500 Desert Storm, the way it has been implemented on Himalayan is very similar to Pine Green shade. The front beak, sides of the fuel tank and side body panels covering toolbox and air box, get an irregular camouflage pattern. This makes it look a lot more interesting than Desert Storm shade on Classic 500 and Single Desert Sand on Classic 350.The other colour Himalayan gets is similar to Lagoon Blue colour shade that was offered with the Classic 350 and Classic 500. This new Himalayan colour is called Glacial Blue. Unlike the other shade with patterns, it is a single colour offering without any patterns to spruce things up. Front beak, fuel tank and side body panels get this mono-coloyr shade. Both these new colours are inspired by the extreme yet picturesque elements of nature.Himalayan New Colours PriceHimalayan currently gets 9 colour options and the new colours add a tasteful variety to the list. These new colours were revealed at the 2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey, which was flagged from Delhi earlier today. Images are credited to participants @manavsinha, @kochimachan and @turbochargedmag.In terms of purpose-built hardcore off-roaders, Royal Enfield Himalayan only competes with Hero Xpulse 200. But adhering to genre and pricing, it competes with KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G 310 GS and the likes. Speaking of G 310 GS, it recently got new colour schemes that might interest you. More
