Royal Enfield Electric Himalayan ADV Details Leak Ahead Of Launch

A large battery pack with 200 to 300 km of range is likely from electric Himalayan by Royal Enfield owing to its ADV natureRoyal Enfield Electric Himalayan ADV – RenderRoyal Enfield has stood true to its ‘four motorcycles a year’ strategy. We got Scram 411, a new Classic 350, new Hunter 350 and recently unveiled Super Meteor 650. Royal Enfield’s quota for new launches in 2022 seems to have come to an end. That said, tomorrow never sleeps and with a future of EVs gaining traction, mainstream 2W manufacturers can’t afford to miss the EV train. Certainly not Royal Enfield, as it seems to have a monopoly on classic and retro motorcycles at least in India. RE has a ton of overseas fanbase to please as well.To continue being at the top of their game, Royal Enfield has planned multiple launches over the next few years. One of them is an electric Himalayan. You heard that right. An electric ADV from a mainstream motorcycle manufacturer. Let’s take a look.Electric Himalayan By Royal EnfieldIt was at Hunter 350 launch that Eicher Motors CEO Siddhartha Lal gave subtle hints as to what kind of EVs may come out of Royal Enfield stables in the coming years. He mentioned that the very first Royal Enfield electric vehicle will be revealed in a three to four years timeline. Even though it meant waiting, RE confirmed that it had its foot on the ground.Image – BikewaleRecently we saw Electrik01 concept in a leaked picture which looked extremely radical. Something no one had seen in a century. It had a futuristic vibe and stood by its retro charms along the way. Royal Enfield Electric Himalayan radiates the same vibes. In this sense, it is still neo-retro in its appeal, but gets a futuristic design language.Gone is its beak and in its place is a bikini fairing that holds its round headlights. A tall visor adorns its front fascia and gives it an ADV feel. It is evident that Royal Enfield is cleverly incorporating its frame as its body panels, exposed for display. At the back, we can see a sharp subframe and a clean profile.Wire spoke rims are retained and are likely to be 21” at front and 17” or 18” at the rear. Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric gets a mid-mounted motor sending power to rear wheels via chain drive. Mono-shock rear suspension and stylish aluminium swingarm are part of its package as well.Launch TimelineUnlike Electrik01 which is a prototype, Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric is still in concept design phase. It is possible that when the new breed of electric 2W from Royal Enfield sees the light of day, electric Himalayan could be the flagship. We say this because owing to its nature, an ADV should have a long range.Long range means a larger battery and that in turn means higher pricing. Also, with a decent off-road kit or touring kit, it is not a stretch to say that Royal Enfield will price it at a premium. With a top-down approach, we can expect that electric powertrains will trickle down on lower-end products as well. A launch timeline is not revealed by the company. Going by Sidhartha Lal’s hints, we can expect eclectic Royal Enfields to hit Indian roads in 2026 or beyond.Source More

This Electric Scooter / Motorcycle Could Be Yours For Rs 35k

Since this electric scooter is made out of scrap materials at the owner’s discretion, it is not a finished product on saleNausha Electric Motorcycle / ScooterEver craved an electric scooter for a lower price? Well, you’re in for a treat as India is now exposed to electric scooters like never before. There are innumerous brands that are offering electric two wheelers today. Some of which fly under the radar as well. But most of them look like every other electric two-wheeler that is out there. What if you want something that looks like nothing else on the market. What if you need something out of the ordinary? One with immense quirkiness and will grab every eyeball that laid its eyes on it? Nausha from Punjab seems to have got your back.Nausha Electric Scooter / MotorcycleNausha electric motorcycle is not a company that is importing EV parts from China and slapping a brand name on it and calling it a day. This is actually not a product on sale yet. The owner of this quirky electric motorcycle has built it out of interest and hobby. He claims that he has built the whole electric vehicle from scrap materials that were deemed unfit for any use. Nausha has selectively chosen certain scrap elements that would suit this build. The cylindrical centre part of the EV seems to be the casing of an agricultural submersible borewell motor with its internals removed.Nausha EVOther frame components seem to be scrap metal as well. Although Nausha says that everything is from scrap, the hub motor, battery and controller seem to be sourced from a different EV. Suspension components might also be lifted from other electric scooters. Wheels are likely to be 10” in size which is widely available.Battery, controller, BMS and other components are housed inside the main cylindrical housing. While hub motor is mounted at its back. There are two prototypes in question, one yellow and one black. Yellow vehicle gets front drum brakes, while black one doesn’t. There is an aftermarket LED headlight and taillight at front and back respectively.Price & LaunchNausha mentions that it just cost him Rs. 40,000 to build his first prototype. Since there were a lot of bad design choices with this first prototype, he mentions that if he had to do it again and sell it, it would only cost him Rs. 35,000 only. He also claims that there have been multiple orders from across the country and even overseas. He wishes to add regenerative braking to it in the future.Nausha EVAs quirky as it looks, weight distribution would be horrendous on this design as all its mass is situated high up. I have built electric vehicles from the ground up in electric and hybrid vehicle workshops as I am an automobile engineer. I would have done a lot of things differently. But it is just me. What do you think? Would you buy this quirky electric scooter? One thing remains, though, and is very commendable too. This was built from scrap materials. And for that reason, props to the guy to make good use of waste materials and put together a working prototype. Note: This is not a finished product and is not on sale. More

As individual preferences vary widely, Royal Enfield has made it a point to provide a range of colour options for its bikesRE Himalayan New ColoursAt the time of Himalayan BS6 launch, colour options were Gravel Grey, Lake Blue, Rock Red, Sleet Grey, Snow White and Granite Black. In February 2021, Sleet Grey and Snow White colour options were removed. This was likely due to low demand for these colour options. As a replacement, Royal Enfield Himalayan had received colour options of Mirage Silver and Pine Green.Himalayan colour palette has been updated again with three new colour options, Glacier Blue, Sleet Black, and Dune Brown. Existing colour options continue to be on offer along with these three new colours.Himalayan new coloursHimalayan already has a blue shade (Lake Blue), which is a dual-tone blue-white theme. The new Glacial Blue variant utilizes a different shade of blue. Another unique aspect is that this new theme utilizes a mix of glossy and matte blue. While the fuel tank has a glossy finish, the front beak and side panels are done in matte shade. The glossy-matte combo is surely distinctive, but not necessarily attractive.Second new colour option of Dune Brown appears similar to a shade that was earlier used on a special edition of Classic 500. Existing Classic 350 also has a familiar shade called Signals Desert Sand.RE Himalayan New ColoursNew Dune Brown shade has a camouflage pattern, similar to that of the Pine Green colour option. The shade has been applied on the front beak, fuel tank, front rack, side panels and rear mud guard. The Dune Brown variant can be a way to highlight the bike’s capabilities across sandy terrain.
