It is called 390 Adventure X and sits below the Standard model in pricing and equipment. The Austrian brand has cut some corners to achieve this lower pricing. The high-performance single-cylinder engine doesn’t get any revisions.KTM 390 Adventure X – Less Features For Less MoneyThe new variant costs Rs. 2.8 lakh (ex-sh). This is an introductory price and is likely to change in the future. As opposed to Rs. 3.38 lakh for standard model with all the bells and whistles, 390 Adventure X costs Rs. 58,000 less (all prices ex-sh). Making it a tempting proposition for potential buyers.KTM PricesPricing is the most interesting factor in this development. KTM 390 Adventure X now costs Rs. 2.8 lakh (introductory, ex-sh). 390 Adventure X is now Rs. 58,000 less than standard model and Rs. 36,000 more than KTM 250 Adventure priced at Rs. 2.44 lakh. Bringing 250 Adventure to the equation lends new perspectives regarding this new lower-spec KTM 390 Adventure X.The company has not cut corners where it matters the most. Potential buyers can rejoice. The 373.27cc single-cylinder engine is untouched. It still makes 42.9 bhp of power at 9000 RPM and 37 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. The 6-speed gearbox and primary cycle parts are carried over.Omissions to achieve a lower price point come in its equipment list. KTM 390 Adventure X is devoid of a slew of electronic aids. These include Traction Control System, Cornering ABS and a quick shifter. Dual-channel ABS (switchable rear) is retained with the newer model.LED lighting all-around, USD front forks, ride-by-wire, slipper and assist clutch, 320mm front with 4-pot caliper and 230 mm rear with 1-pot caliper brake setup, tubeless tyres, 19” front and 17” alloy wheel setup and 200 mm ground clearance are carried over. KTM 390 Adventure X may not get a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity as seen on the regular 390 ADV. It could instead get a display unit from KTM 250 ADV.Value For Money Variant In KTM’s 390 LineupKTM 390 Adventure X will broaden the horizon for the brand, drawing in more buyers. A lower entry-level price point makes it a VFM proposition, considering everything it packs. It is currently the least expensive KTM offering with a 373cc engine. 390 Adventure X has a slew of rivals falling in similar ethos. Zontes 350T costs Rs. 3.67 lakh and BMW G 310 GS costs Rs. 3.2 lakh (all prices ex-sh, Delhi)Royal Enfield Himalayan and Yezdi Adventure cost less and pose better value. Pound-to-pound, both these vehicles are less performant than KTM 390 Adventure X. Colour options are Orange and Dark Galvano. Spoke Wheel Edition and Low Seat-Height Editions are likely to launch at a later date. Many prospective buyers will find the new lower-spec variant of 390 Adventure a tempting proposition. It is not sure whether KTM will implement a similar strategy with Duke and RC lineups. In contrast, 390 Duke costs Rs. 2.96 lakh and RC 390 costs Rs. 3.16 lakh (all prices ex-sh, Delhi). More

TVS Raider is now available in single seat, split seat and SmartXonnect variant; prices start at Rs 93,7192023 TVS Raider Single SeatAiming to improve overall comfort and convenience, TVS has launched a single seat variant of Raider 125cc commuter bike. It is the new base-spec variant, around Rs 1,000 cheaper than the split seat variant that starts at Rs 94,719 (ex-sh, Delhi). Top-spec SmartXonnect variant, that also has split seats, is priced at Rs 1,00,820.Another update for TVS Raider is that the drum brake variant has been discontinued. It was the most affordable variant, available at a starting price of Rs 86,803. Mechanically, there are no change to TVS Raider.2023 TVS Raider Prices – April 2023TVS Raider single seat variantRaider’s single seat has the typical profile seen with other commuters in 125cc segment. Pillion seat section is slightly elevated, which helps achieve a sportier profile. This is especially true when compared to other commuters that have a completely flat seat design. TVS Raider has probably the most dynamic styling in its class. It competes with bikes like Honda SP125, Hero Glamour Xtec and Bajaj Pulsar 125.Primary motive for launching a single seat version of Raider is to improve the bike’s positioning as a commuter bike. While split seats are sportier, a single seat makes more practical sense. It can support a wide variety of cargo and families with children. With the single seat option for Raider, TVS should be able to target a larger customer base. Take a look at the detailed walkaround video shared by Motorbuddy channel.[embedded content][embedded content]The only limitation with Raider single seat is that it is available in just a single colour option of Striking Red. In comparison, the split seat variant is available in colour options of Fiery Yellow, Blazing Blue, Striking Red and Wicked Black. Top-spec SmartXonnect variant is available with colour options of Fiery Yellow and Wicked Black.TVS Raider single seat specsApart from the saddle, nothing else has changed for single seat Raider 125. Powering the bike is a 124.8cc, single cylinder, air and oil cooled motor that generates 11.4 PS of max power and 11.2 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Raider offers best-in-class acceleration, with 0 to 60 kmph achieved in 5.9 seconds. Fuel efficiency is also improved with technologies such as engine start-stop and Ecothrust Fi.Suspension system comprises telescopic forks at front and gas-charged, 5-step adjustable monoshock unit at rear. TVS Raider 125 has 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with 80/100 front and 100/90 rear tyres. With the drum variant discontinued, Raider has 240 mm disc at front and 130 mm drum at rear. Synchronized braking technology (SBT) is standard across all variants. While single seat and split seat variants of Raider have a reverse LCD screen, top-spec SmartXonnect has segment-first 5-inch TFT screen. Top-spec SmartXonnect variant is probably the most desirable, as it offers a range of features such as on-the-go call management, voice assist, weather updates, navigation, last parked location, ride report, service booking, etc. More

Ather 450X New Base Variant Launched – 450 Plus Discontinued

With the new affordable variant, Ather 450X will have improved competencies against rivals like TVS iQube S and Ola S1Ather Electric Scooter ProductionTo fulfil the needs of folks who may be looking for a no-frills electric scooter, Ather Energy has introduced a new base-spec variant of 450X. In Delhi where state subsidy is among the highest, Ather 450X new base variant is priced at Rs 98,079. Ather 450X with ProPack will cost Rs 1,28,443. These prices are around 10k to 15k lower in comparison to earlier prices of Ather electric scooters.Ather has also simplified its portfolio by discontinuing the 450 Plus variant. Customers can now choose either the standard 450X or the top-spec 450X ProPack. Both variants have the same hardware, but there are differences in terms of features, type of charger and warranty.Ather 450X New Prices April 2023Ather 450X new base variant features Vs Pro PackTo achieve an affordable price point, a significant number of advanced features are no longer available with the new base variant of Ather 450X. While the 7-inch touchscreen display is there, it comes in greyscale format. In comparison, top-spec 450X ProPack variant has a multi-colour display.450X base variant misses out on all of the connectivity features such as smartphone pairing, OTA updates, onboard maps and navigation, document storage, ride statistics, remote location tracking, remote charge monitoring, push location from Ather app and multi-stop trip planner.Ather 450x vs 450x Pro PackThere is no Bluetooth, 4G LTE Cat-4 /WCDMA / EDGE, music & calls, guide-me-home light, auto indicator off and time-based adaptive screen brightness and themes. Tyre pressure monitoring system, park assist and hill assist features are also not available with the new base variant of 450X. As compared to ride modes of Eco, Ride, Sports and Warp available with ProPack variant, the base variant gets a single default ride mode. Performance is comparable with Ride mode of ProPack variant.Another major difference is in charging time. While both variants have the same battery pack, the base variant comes with a slow charger. For a full charge, the new base variant will take 15 hours and 20 minutes. ProPack variant can achieve full charge in 5 hours 40 minutes.Another issue that users of base 450X will have to face is lack of access to Ather’s fast-charging network. This seems quite unfair, as it’s essentially denying users a visit to the fuel station. Moreover, base 450X users won’t have the option to upgrade to ProPack at a later date. All these factors are likely to nudge people into buying the ProPack version. In terms of warranty, both variants have 3 years/30,000 km cover for the vehicle and charger. However, for the battery, the warranty is 3 years/30,000 kms for base variant and 5 years/60,000 kms for ProPack variant of Ather 450X.Ather 450X new base variant specsMuch of the hardware specifications are the same for both base variant and ProPack variant of Ather 450X. Installed battery capacity is 3.7 kWh, with peak power output of 6.4 kW and max torque of 26 Nm. Top-speed is 90 kmph and 0 to 40 kmph is achieved in 3.3 seconds. Range of 146 km is same for both variants. Gradeability is 20 degrees. Other hardware like lighting setup, wheels, braking system, suspension, etc. are same for both variants. More

GPS: Greatly Punishing Stupidity – How Thieves Underestimated a Ola Scooter

Thief-Thwarting Tech: How GPS Tracking Outsmarted Some Not-So-Smart Crooks out to steal a Ola scooterOla Electric Scooter Stolen – Found using GPSMoving to a new place is never easy. For Anjali Pal, it turned into a nightmare when she fell victim to a packers and movers company fraud. She had booked her luggage through the company while shifting from JDH (Jodhpur) to DDN (Dehradun). Only to later discover that the company was trying to transport her Ola scooter to another state without her knowledge.Fortunately, the fraudsters overlooked one crucial detail – Anjali’s Ola scooter is equipped with GPS/Location tracking. While they had executed the theft, GPS was silently doing what it does, transmitting the scooter’s location to Ola’s servers in real-time. After almost a month, Anjali has been re-united with her scooter. Well done everyone. Hat tip to automotive enthusiast Tusharr Makwna for sharing this update.Ola Electric Scooter Stolen – Found using GPSWhy GPS/Location Tracking Should Be a Must-Have Feature in Your Electric ScooterIt didn’t take long for Anjali to realize that something was amiss. She reported the theft to the local police and filed an FIR. However, her communication to Ola on Twitter requesting them to track the scooter is dated on April 11, 2023. She even contacted Ola on all possible email ids. As she continued to request help online, by 12th April, her Ola’s charge was down at 40 percent. The team at Ola proceeded to provide regular location updates, which helped the police in their investigation. Thanks to location updates, the police were able to catch the fraudsters swiftly. Anjali was overjoyed. Many electric scooter manufacturers offer GPS tracking as a feature. This allows owners to track the location of their scooter through a mobile app.If your electric scooter is equipped with GPS tracking and it gets lost or stolen, you can contact the manufacturer or service provider to report the loss. Also request assistance in locating it.Smart Scooters, Smarter Tracking: How GPS Location Tech Can Foil TheftIt’s important to note that GPS tracking is not foolproof. There may be certain limitations on the ability to locate a lost or stolen scooter. For example, GPS signals can be blocked by buildings or other obstructions. Accuracy and reliability of tracking may vary depending on quality of the signal and network strength. It’s important to note that the manufacturer or service provider may have certain limitations on their ability to locate a lost or stolen scooter, such as legal restrictions or privacy concerns. Therefore, it’s always a good idea to take additional steps to protect your scooter, such as locking it up securely and parking it in a safe and visible location. Honda 350cc Cruiser To Rival Meteor 350 – Launch By Diwali 2023 ?

To be based on the existing CB350, new Honda 350cc Cruiser is likely to come with different engine tuningHonda Rebel Cruiser – Image for illustration purpose onlyIf there is one brand that is dominating the 350cc segment, it is Royal Enfield. It is at the peak of this segment, enjoying a huge market share of over 85%. Rival manufacturers have tried to eat into this market share, but have not found much success yet. Classic Legends Jawa and Yezdi, Honda CB350 and CB350 RS, Bajaj Dominar are some examples. That does not mean rivals have given up. Honda for example, is getting ready to launch a new 350cc motorcycle later this year, which is rumoured to be a cruiser that will take on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. As of now, Meteor 350 is enjoying a niche in this segment. Now, Honda intends to crash Meteor 350’s party by launching a new cruiser based on its CB350.What To Expect From Upcoming Honda 350cc Cruiser?A new variant of CB350 by the end of this year was hinted by Honda while revealing its EV roadmap for India. They have not yet confirmed that it will be a cruiser. There was just a new variant mentioned based on CB350, which could be an ADV as well. One to take on Royal Enfield Himalayan. Or it can be an even more trail-worthy CB350 RS based scrambler with wire-spoked wheels, longer travel suspension and A/T tyres.Rumours in the industry claim that it is more likely to be a cruiser. Because Meteor 350 has more sales volume when compared to Himalayan. For reference, Meteor 350 sales avg about 8k units a month, while Himalayan sales are in the 3k range per month. If trying to cut into an established pie, why not shoot for a larger pie, right?Honda Rebel cruiser image for referenceRecently, Honda announced six custom kits with CB350. Out of these, Tourer custom was a tempting proposition for a cruiser. It had knuckle guards, a windscreen, and a luggage rack behind its pillion seats. But there was a missed opportunity for Honda as it should have offered revised rider geometry to suit that of a cruiser motorcycle. That is exactly what Honda might be offering with this upcoming variant of CB350. New Honda 350cc cruiser might offer a lower seat height, extended wheelbase, a longer and more relaxed handlebar, front set foot pegs, a larger fuel tank, smaller wheels and more. This would transform CB350 into a cruiser with a lot more appeal. Something inspired by their Rebel range of motorcycles on offer in the international market would be great.Honda 350cc Cruiser Engine SpecsHonda will very likely retain its 348.36cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. But, there might be a different engine tune to suit a cruiser’s character by offering more bottom-end torque. Revised gearing and sprockets might be possible too. For reference, on H’ness CB350, this engine makes 20.78 bhp of power and 30 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. While at it, we hope Honda throws in a 20L or even 21L fuel tank to get an impeccable tank range. Even Meteor 350 doesn’t get a large fuel tank, which its predecessor Thunderbird 350 did. Other features like LED lighting and retro styling will be retained. Launch will happen by Diwali 2023. Prices of Honda 350cc cruiser will be more that of the existing CB350 range. More

The facility will also take on some of the duties from Royal Enfield’s Thiruvottiyur factory. This entails a budget of up to Rs. 150 crore to lay the groundwork, and the project’s completion is expected to be in 2025.Current Royal Enfield motorcycles are manufactured at company plant in Chennai, India.Royal Enfield’s EV Plans: Two Different Platforms in the WorksThere has been speculation that Royal Enfield is developing two different EV platforms. The first is an in-house platform codenamed L1A, which is rumoured to hit the road by 2025. There is also the EV platform from Spanish EV maker Stark Motorcycles.First Royal Enfield electric motorcycle is expected to make its market launch in 2025. It will be a completely new machine, and not something that will be based on their existing motorcycle. Designed to be an EV from ground up, it is likely to come with a battery pack that will deliver a range of about 100-150 kms in real world conditions.More Than Just a Production Plant – Meeting the Challenges of the FutureRoyal Enfield’s existing Vallam Vadagal and Oragadam factories have a combined production capacity of above one million (10 lakh) units per annum. Then there is the Thiruvottiyur facility as well. Future EV production is expected to be a prominent role of this new plant.Their expansion plans are in full swing, and the company’s new manufacturing facility in Cheyyar is an essential part of these plans. And it will play a significant role in fostering the manufacturer’s future growth. Royal Enfield is poised to take the Indian and global two-wheeler markets by storm with its growing product line-up, focus on increased exports, and EV plans.Source More

2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125 E20 Gets FI Engine – New Alloys, Colours, Features

Bajaj has replaced the electronic carburetor on 2023 Pulsar 125 with a fuel injector, which should ensure better efficiency and performance2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125Bajaj Pulsar 125 has received an update for MY2023. Updated models reached dealerships and deliveries have also started. As part of the update, Bajaj has made significant changes to its powertrain to make it RDE-compliant and E20 fuel compatible. This is part of the BS6 Phase II emission norms transition. OBD-II diagnostics is also a part of this update, monitoring emissions and engine parameters in real-time.2023 Pulsar 125 – Goodbye Carburetor, Hello FI, E20 EngineBike Point By Mintu&Rahul channel has uploaded a detailed walkaround of 2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Edition. Pulsar 125 Neon Edition Single Seat Disc variant price to be Rs. 1.01 lakh (on-road, WB). This pricing undercuts most of its rivals from Honda, TVS and Hero MotoCorp.2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125 – New AlloysTo get Pulsar 125 to meet new norms, Bajaj has ditched the electronic carburetor from pre-BS6 P2 era. In its place, we now get a much more efficient fuel injector. There will be a change in engine tuning as well, to take full benefits of a fuel injector. Bajaj will likely equip 2023 Pulsar 125 with a new ECU measuring various external factors to best optimise air-fuel ratio in real-time.Benefits of a FI over a carburetor are many. For starters, there is better atomization of the charge. A carburetor can’t adjust air-fuel ratio on its own with varied altitude, pressure, temperature and other external factors. With the new fuel injector, there might be an increase in fuel efficiency as well.[embedded content][embedded content]Bajaj has made another major change to Pulsar 125. Pre-BS6 P2 Pulsar 125 came with twin spark technology. Bajaj calls it DTS-i and Pulsar 125’s engine casing had this branding as well. With 2023 Pulsar 125, there is just one spark plug and engine casing now gets Bajaj branding instead of DTS-i.2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125New Cosmetic & Functional Upgrades For Better Commuting ExperienceThe walkaround video only shows the Pulsar 125 Neon Edition Single Seat Disc Brake variant. Aforementioned changes will be applicable to other variants of Neon Edition and Carbon Fibre Edition as well. Pulsar 125’s graphics get subtle revisions too.Pulsar 125 looks a lot more stylish with the new alloy wheel design, replacing the older 6-spoke design. Differences between Carbon Fiber and Neon editions are in aesthetics only. Primary of them is that Carbon Fiber gets a belly pan, which Neon lacks.2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125There is an overhauled instrument cluster as well. It is physically the same unit. Added features are instant fuel efficiency, average fuel efficiency and distance to empty. A Gear position indicator is lacking, though. New Pulsar 125 gets halogen headlights, turn indicators and pilot lamps, LED tail lights and illuminated switchgear and more.Change In Numbers Expected2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125 is likely to sport different performance figures with added FI setup. For reference, the outgoing carburated model develops 11.64 bhp and 10.8 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Newer model retains regular telescopic front forks, rear twin shock absorbers, 80/100-17 front and 100/90-17 rear tyres. Pulsar 125 rivals include Honda SP125, TVS Raider 125, Hero Glamour XTEC and the likes. More
