At the recent EICMA show, two new 250cc bikes were unveiled – Hero Xtreme 250R and Karizma XMR 250. Of these two, it is the Xtreme 250R which has been spied undisguised in Delhi. As per the report, it was out for a TVC shoot, indicating that the launch is near.

Hero Xtreme 250R – Key features

An aggressive fascia, USD forks in golden finish and sporty graphics are some of the USPs that instantly get one’s attention. It appears that Hero has invested a lot of time and effort in developing its first 250cc street fighter motorcycle. First impressions are especially important when one has to compete with formidable rivals such as KTM 250 Duke. Hero Xtreme 250R’s design and styling are in line with global standards, something that will be useful when targeting export markets.

Hero Xtreme 250R has a sharp front cowl, auto-illumination Class-D LED Projector headlight, LED DRLs, polygonal rear-view mirrors and sleek LED turn signals. The bike has sporty graphics, an exciting mix of red, black and white. Even the front fender and rear monoshock suspension spring gets the red treatment.

The fuel tank has the ‘Xtreme’ badging in 3D format, whereas side radiator covers have the R lettering. Split seats have a sleek profile, something that complements the bike’s sporty look and feel. The engine casing in a distinctive metallic copper finish adds another layer of dynamism.

A number of parts such as the sculpted fuel tank, 43 mm USD forks, alloy wheels and exhaust are shared with the Karizma XMR 250. Hero Xtreme 250R utilizes a robust trellis frame and a 6-step adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear. Users can customize based on the load, terrain and riding style. The bike offers good protection against the elements, as evident with the robust sump guard and exhaust cover over the catalytic converter.

Hero Xtreme 250R – Performance

Powering Hero Xtreme 250R is a brand new 250cc, liquid-cooled DOHC engine with a 4-valve system. It churns out 30 PS and 25 Nm and is expected to be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is equipped with lightweight wheels and radial tyres that have a 50-50 weight balance. 
This configuration ensures exceptional grip and responsiveness, something that allows users to accelerate with confidence. 0 to 60 km/h can be achieved in just 3.25 seconds. Braking setup comprises disc brakes at both ends with switchable ABS modes.

Hero is offering advanced connectivity features with the Hero Xtreme 250R. The bike has a full-digital instrument display with Bluetooth support. When paired with a smartphone, users can access music and turn-by-turn navigation. Access to calls and text messages is also likely to be available. Starting price can be around Rs 2 lakh.
