    India-Made Triumph Scrambler T4 Spied Testing Abroad

    Triumph Motorcycles is about to launch new versions of its Scrambler 400X to expand the lineup. Yes, we will see the launch of a more off-road version of this motorcycle soon, in the form of Triumph Scrambler 400XC. But we have not forgotten the Scrambler T4 (name not confirmed) which was spied testing in India once.
    This motorcycle is speculated to be a more affordable version of Scrambler 400X in the same way Speed T4 is an affordable version of Speed 400. After that one appearance in India, this motorcycle has been spied testing again abroad. Let’s take a look at what it has to offer and what we should expect from this upcoming motorcycle.

    Considering Triumph’s past naming schemes, one can speculate that this motorcycle might not be called Scrambler T4. At least in global markets. Triumph could advertise this motorcycle as a Street Scrambler and name it Street Scrambler 400 or Scrambler 400 RS. This falls in line with what Triumph has done in the past with its twin-cylinder classic motorcycle range.
    However, we can’t ignore the possibility of this being called Scrambler T4 because Speed T4 exists and this follows a similar ethos of cutting down on equipment and premium quotient. On this recent test mule, we can see some testing equipment strapped on its back and it does not feature any camouflage.

    We can see a new side body panel that establishes a unique appearance. Also striking unique appearance is the new shorter windscreen and USD forks have been finished in a non-flashy Black shade. Triumph Scrambler T4 misses out on split seat design and gets a single-piece unit. Rubber tank pads are missing too.

    What to expect?
    Rear section is completely new and it features simpler tail lights and rear pillion grabrail. Handlebar is simpler too and it misses out on brace pads. Along with that, Triumph has also removed knuckle guards from the equation. Triumph Scrambler T4 continues to get the same semi-digital instrument cluster as Scrambler 400X.

    Powering this vehicle might be the same engine as Speed T4, which is downtuned and equipped with less premium hardware when compared to Speed 400. It might feature a manual throttle and a lower state of tune generating around 30.6 bhp of peak power at 7,000 RPM and 36 Nm of torque at 5,000 RPM, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

      Triumph’s 400 lineup has been gaining more and more popularity in the Indian market. The company is currently one of the notable players in the high-performance single-cylinder 350cc to 450cc motorcycle range. For 2025, Triumph has just updated the Scrambler 400X which now gets a new shade of Red along with a slight price revision. Let’s take a closer look.

      With the launch of Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X in India, Triumph Motorcycles entered a new price bracket that it never operated in before. With a strong value for money quotient, Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X quickly emerged as a desirable retro-styled motorcycle with a lot more performance than the popular 350cc offerings from Royal Enfield.
      The most expensive offering in the 400 range by Triumph, is Scrambler 400X. This motorcycle has been updated for MY25 version with a new colourway. Called Lava Red Satin, this new colourway looks a lot more appealing and premium. It replaces the current Volcanic Red and Phantom Black colourway.
      While it looks the same as images published by Triumph’s social media handles, it looks like it will get a matte finish. Hence the word Satin in its name. 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400X gets a slight price hike too. It is now priced at Rs 2.67 lakh (Ex-sh), which is a price increment of Rs 758 (Ex-sh).

      Any other changes?
      Other colourways offered with Scrambler 400X are carried over. These include Matt Khaki Green / Fusion White, Pearl Metallic White / Phantom Black and Phantom Black / Silver Ice. Other than the new colour and revised price tag, there don’t seem to be any other changes with 2025 Scrambler 400X.
      It continues to be powered by a 398cc liquid-cooled DOHC 4V/cyl single-cylinder TR Series engine. This engine is capable of delivering 40 bhp of peak power and 37 Nm of peak torque, mated to a slipper clutch and a 6-speed gearbox. It rivals other Scrambler motorcycles like Royal Enfield’s Scram 440, Honda CB350 RS, Yezdi Scrambler and others.

      Following the successful market reception of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, Triumph expanded its lineup with Speed T4 and is testing a Scrambler T4. Triumph is testing a Scrambler 400X Cross Spoke variant as seen with the new spy shots. Additionally, Triumph is working on a new cafe racer model based on the Speed 400. Speculated to be called Thruxton 400, both these vehicles have been spied together. Let’s take a look.

      It is possible that cross-spoke wheels for Triumph Scrambler 400 X could be offered as an accessory option. It could be accessible to existing users as well, a strategy similar to Royal Enfield. Cross-spoke wheels are gaining popularity as they combine the off-road-ability of wire-spoke wheels with convenience of tubeless tyres.

      Spoke wheels perform better on off-road tracks, while tubeless tyres reduce the risk of flats. Managing a flat can be quite stressful, especially when one is exploring remote locations. Many enthusiasts go for tubed-to-tubeless conversions, but reliability can be an issue.
      With cross-spoke wheels, Triumph has effectively addressed its customers’ pain points. Earlier, Royal Enfield had followed a similar approach for the Himalayan 450. Along with the cross-spoke wheels, Scrambler 400 X can also be seen with a front beak. Most other visual details are largely the same as the current model.

      Triumph 400 Cafe Racer – Key features
      Expanding the accessible 400cc platform for enthusiasts, Triumph is working on a new cafe racer model based on the Speed 400. Latest spy shots reveal the bike in near-production-ready form. Some of the key highlights include a bikini fairing, round headlamp and a retro curved windscreen.

      The bike has bar-end rear-view mirrors, clip-on handlebars, a sculpted fuel tank and a single-piece seat. Tail section design appears distinctive in comparison to that of Speed 400. Riding stance of Triumph’s new 400cc bike has a mix of traditional cafe-racer ergonomics and sport-touring.

      A noticeable forward-leaning position is needed to reach the low-set clip-ons. Foot pegs are only slightly rear-set, something that balances control and comfort. These features make the cafe racer suitable for both everyday fun riding as well as longer journeys across highways.

      Powertrain Details
      Talking about performance, both these motorcycles will be using the same 398.15 cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder engine. It generates 40 PS and 37.5 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has USD forks at front and a gas mono-shock setup at the rear. Both ends have 17-inch alloy wheels, with 300 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes. Dual-channel ABS will be offered as standard.

      Similar to Speed 400, the cafe racer is likely to use an analogue speedometer with an integrated multi-function LCD screen. Upcoming Triumph cafe racer is expected to be positioned between the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. These are priced at Rs 2.40 lakh and Rs 2.65 lakh, respectively. The most affordable Triumph one can buy in India is the Speed T4 (Rs 1.99 lakh).
