Hyundai Ioniq 5 Electric India Launch Price Rs 44.95 L – 2023 Auto Expo

Hyundai Ioniq 5 was launched today, at the Auto Expo 2023 – In the presence of brand ambassador Shah Rukh KhanHyundai Ioniq 5 India Launch – 2023 Auto ExpoHyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the hottest new age EVs in the world today. Futuristic looks and Eco-conscious interiors also play a key role in making the Ioniq 5 a very desirable car. India launch was much anticipated and finally, today at the 2023 Auto Expo, Hyundai has launched their Ioniq 5 electric car.Globally, it gets a 72.6 kWh battery pack with a single-motor and a dual-motor configuration. For India, Hyundai is offering just a single-motor setup. This and other aspects will help Hyundai to price the Ioniq 5 competitively and undercut its cousin Kia EV6 by quite some margin.Hyundai Ioniq 5 Prices IndiaKia and Hyundai are corporate sister companies. This allows them to share platforms and powertrains across various segments. In most cases, Hyundai products are positioned as premium offerings over Kia’s counterparts. In the hierarchy, Kia products are the least pricey, followed by Hyundai products with a slight price bump and some more with Genesis products.Taking a look at Santa Fe / Sorento, Palisade / Telluride and even Creta / Seltos, it is evident Hyundai products are the pricier options. With Ioniq 5 and EV6, there is a role reversal as the former will undercut the latter in pricing. And that too by a huge margin. Hyundai Ioniq 5 prices in India start from Rs 44.95 lakh, ex-sh. In comparison, Kia EV6 prices start from Rs 60.95 lakh, ex-sh.Hyundai Ioniq 5 Vs Kia EV6 – SpecsKia EV6 comes with a larger 77.4 kWh battery pack capable of 229 bhp and 350 Nm with a single motor RWD layout and 325 bhp and 605 Nm of torque with a dual motor AWD layout. In contrast, Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes equipped with a smaller 72.6 kWh battery pack capable of 217 bhp and 350 Nm of torque.Kia EV6 is brought into the country via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route attracting 60% customs duty. Whereas Hyundai Ioniq 5 is being brought into India via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route attracting just 15% customs duty. A combination of lower customs duty, lower performance and smaller battery, will allow Hyundai to price its upcoming EV competitively.More features, Recycled materialsHyundai Ioniq 5 is a 5-seater electric crossover by the Korean manufacturer. It measures 4,635 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and stands 1,605 mm tall. On the inside, it gets a vegan leather interior, a panoramic sunroof and plastics made out of recycled materials and is ecologically sensitive. The car also gets a massive 530L of boot space.Even though Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 share most of their components on a different scale, they are polar opposites in design. Kia shoots for a sporty and modern crossover which gets family design traits found on the front fascia. With the Ioniq 5, Hyundai has taken a radical approach and has created a retro-futuristic blast. More

2023 Maruti EVX Electric SUV Debuts – 550 Kms Range, Creta EV Rival

Planned for launch in early 2025, Maruti’s first all-electric SUV is expected to offer range of around 500 km2023 Maruti EVX Electric SUVEV segment in the country is transforming at a fast pace, with several new launches planned for this year. Before born-electric cars become the mainstay, OEMs like Tata and Mahindra are busy launching electric versions of their bestselling ICE-based models. These affordable EVs are helping meet the rising demand for electric cars in the country.Maruti’s strategy seems a bit different, as it will start its EV journey with a born-electric car. Maruti’s first all-electric SUV will debut in early 2025. Till then, Maruti will continue to focus on petrol, hybrid and CNG powertrains. By 2025, other homegrown carmakers are also expected to launch their born-electric range.2023 Maruti EVX Electric SUVMaruti has always been associated with affordability and that USP won’t be lost with its born-electric cars. A balanced approach is likely in terms of features, range and pricing. 2023 Maruti EVX Electric SUV range is 550 kms with a 60 kWh battery pack, which is kind of a sweet spot in terms of alleviating range anxiety. Higher range won’t even be necessary in future, owing to improved charging infrastructure and ultra-fast charging options. For folks with limited budget, Maruti could also introduce a more affordable version of EVX. It will have lesser range of around 400 km. While the top-spec variant will have a 60-kWh battery pack, the affordable variant could be equipped with a 48-kWh unit. Maruti will be sourcing the battery packs from BYD. These will be utilizing LFP blade cell batteries that are claimed to be better in terms of range, power-to-weight ratio and safety. Maruti also announced INR 100 billion investment committed by Suzuki Motor Corporation for production of BEVs and batteries in India.2023 Maruti EVX Electric SUVSpeaking about dimensions, Maruti EVX electric SUV is 4300 mm long, 1800 mm wide, and 1600 mm tall. This makes it a rival to upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. While performance numbers have not been revealed officially, new Maruti electric SUV could deliver power output of around 138-170 hp. Both two-wheel and all-wheel drive variants will be manufactured at Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat. However, it is not certain if all-wheel drive option will be available in India. Around half of the production of EVX will be meant for overseas markets.Futuristic design, spacious interiorsIn line with evolving consumer preferences, Maruti will be utilizing an entirely new design philosophy for its EVX electric SUV and other born-electric cars. It will help compete with rivals like Tata and Mahindra, whose born-electric range will be just as radical and extravagant. A significant percentage of customers will be young buyers, which is where the innovation in design becomes more relevant. Aerodynamics will be a key focus area, as it will not only enhance the looks but also boost overall range. With its born-electric platform, interiors are expected to be a lot more spacious in comparison to a similar sized ICE-based SUV like Creta. Maruti EVX will be based on the 27PL platform, which is a tweaked version of Toyota’s 40PL global platform. Toyota will have its own version of the YY8 SUV.New Maruti EVX electric SUV is expected to be launched in the price range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. By 2025, it will have a lot of rivals to deal with. With affordable pricing and comprehensive range of features, Maruti EVX could emerge as one of India’s bestselling born-electric SUVs. More

Renault Kiger Electric SUV Spied – Upcoming Tata Punch EV Rival

Renault Kiger electric SUV is likely to make debut in 2023Renault Kiger Electric SUV SpiedRenault India has not had a great year, where 2022 is concerned. Their annual sales were down by more than 9% to a little over 87k units. 2022 also saw Renault discontinue one of their iconic cars to be ever on sale in India, the Duster SUV. But that was 2022. It is now 2023, and it seems like Renault India is getting ready to have a great year ahead. At the 2020 Auto Expo, Renault India had showcased Kwid electric and had announced plans to launch the same within 2 years. It is 2023 now, and we have not seen the Kwid EV till now. That is likely because, instead of Kwid EV, Renault is getting ready to give us Kiger EV. The first spy shots of the Kiger Electric SUV are now out.Renault Kiger Electric SUV SpiedYes. Kiger EV. Most of us were expecting Renault to launch Kwid EV, as a version of the same, has been launched in many countries already. But with the Kiger electric spy shots now emerging on the internet, it seems like more or less certain which will be Renault’s first electric car in India.Kiger EV spy shots are credit to Talking Cars channel. Seen in a shade of blue, similar to the one which is already on offer with Kiger petrol, Kiger Electric is identical in design to its ICE counterpart. Charging socket is placed under the front logo.Renault Kiger Electric SUV SpiedRenault Kiger Electric interiors too have been spied. Layout is similar to the Kiger petrol, except for the missing gear lever. Instead Kiger EV gets buttons and a rotating knob for selecting drive mode.  Hand brake lever can also be seen. Door panels, steering wheel, seat fabric all are similar to petrol Kiger.Expected Specs, RangeRenault Kiger EV could get a similar battery and electric motor that is on offer with Kwid EV in China. It gets a 26.8 kWh battery pack which will power the motor to deliver 44 hp and 125 Nm torque. Claimed range could be about 300 kms. Considering Kiger is a bit bigger in size, it could accommodate a larger battery pack than the Kwid EV. This will help in delivering a higher range, of maybe 350 kms.Currently, Renault has Kwid, Kiger and Triber on sale. All powered by petrol engine option. Considering these three cars are built on the same platform, it is likely that Renault could launch a Kwid EV or Triber EV in the future. Kiger’s cousin, Magnite is also likely to benefit and we could see Nissan Magnite electric launch later this year.Renault Kiger Electric SUV SpiedWith the launch of their first electric car, 2023 seems to be the year Renault India could be looking forward to. Renault Kiger EV will take on the likes of upcoming Tata Punch EV and Citroen eC3. Renault could price the Kiger EV in the Rs 10-15 lakh range. More details will be revealed in the coming months.Source More

Agility and smoothness of XUV400 on Manali-Leh highway reveals that driving dynamics could be even better that powerful ICE-based SUVsMahindra XUV400 ElectricMahindra has been creating one bestseller after another and the next big launch is XUV400 Electric. It debuted last year in September and prices are expected to be announced sometime this month.Base-spec variants of XUV400 could be offered at around Rs 17 lakh or even lower to improve competencies against primary rival Tata Nexon EV. It has become the first ever electric vehicle to cover a distance of 751 kms within 24 hours, in sub-zero temperatures. The drive started from Kyelang, Lahaul Spiti, Himachal Pradesh and covered a distance of 751kms in 24 hours.Automotive enthusiasts who saw XUV400 in the steep inclines of the sub-zero terrain said that the electric SUV can be seen effortlessly zig zagging across steep inclines. It is quite remarkable, as negotiating inclines at high altitudes is a challenging task for any vehicle. XUV400 can be seen smoothly accelerating and overtaking other cars without any jerky motions. It goes on to show its power and refined performance.Mahindra XUV400 Electric – New drive record in sub-zero temperaturesXUV400 will be utilizing a 39.4 kWh battery pack that has 112 Ah capacity rating. The battery pack has NMC (nickel, manganese and cobalt) electro-chemical composition. Gross vehicle weight is 1,960 kg, of which, the battery pack itself weighs 309 kg. But as evidenced with the spotted test mule, XUV400 has impressive acceleration.Mahindra XUV400 Electric – New drive record in sub-zero temperaturesOfficially, XUV400 can achieve 0-100 kmph in 8.3 seconds. Sony-Honda JV Electric Car – First Afeela EV Prototype Debuts

Apart from Afeela EV brand under Sony-Honda joint venture, Honda will prepare its own EV lineup as wellSony-Honda JV Electric CarWe all know that Sony is a stalwart when it comes to batteries, electronic gadgets, audio, optics, entertainment, displays, televisions and a lot more appliances. At the 2020 CES event, Sony stunned the world by showcasing an electric sedan concept named Vision S. Sony assured that it was only experimental and had no intentions to launch.Vision S was a stunning vehicle as a concept car. With extremely limited expertise in making cars, Sony couldn’t have built an EV on their own. But Sony pulled a Bazinga card when it partnered up with Honda and has now unveiled a new EV brand named Afeela. The Afeela prototype is also an electric sedan just like the Vision S concept.Sony-Honda Joint VentureThere are a lot of eyebrow-raising features on this car including PlayStation integration and a digital display that stretches across the width of the car’s interior. Yeah, Playstation 5 deliveries are still scarce worldwide and Sony is set to integrate one with their cars.Entertainment being one of its primary businesses, Sony knows the importance of subscription services. Something similar is said to be implemented on Afeela cars as well. A lot of highlight features could be based on a subscription model, just like Tesla cars which come with Autopilot hardware as standard, but unlocked via software after payment.[embedded content][embedded content]In terms of design, it is honestly a mixed bag. The bottom half of the car is extremely straight and minimal and the roof line tapers down aggressively to form a coupe shape. A lot of inspiration has been drawn from Porsche and Lucid cars. This is evident throughout the car’s design including the front LED light bar as well.It is said that Sony had a hand in the design and development process as well. Unlike Apple and Google cars where the respective companies are said to only make software. Apart from Afeela cars with Sony, Honda is preparing itself for an EV future as well. We saw it with the launch of NSX hybrid supercar and Honda e small electric hatchback.Prologue will be Honda’s first-ever long-range electric vehicle which is made in partnership with General Motors. There will also be an EV under Honda’s Acura brand and both will be underpinned by General Motors’ Ultium platform.Sony-Honda JV Electric CarSpecs & PricingNot a lot is known about the Afeela electric sedan prototype. A large battery with around 100 kWh of capacity with around 500 km of range from a single charge and an electrifying acceleration is expected. High-tech sensors, cameras, LIDAR sensors and radar modules are placed at key locations which enable semi-autonomous driving and fully autonomous driving in the future.Afeela cars are said to be produced at one of 12 manufacturing facilities owned by Honda in North America. Bookings will commence from 2025 and launch is in 2026. After that, JDM and Europe are likely to see the launch of Afeela-branded EVs by Sony-Honda joint venture.Production-spec version of Afeela sedan EV is already under testing and will go head to head with luxury electric sedans like Mercedes-Benz EQS, Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model S, Lucid Air. Prices are expected to be north of $100,000 (Approx Rs. 82 lakh) for top-spec models. More
