Ola Swappable Battery Patented – Applications On Scooters, Bikes, Rickshaws?

Ola Swappable Battery PatentedWhen launched, Ola Swappable battery tech will rival Hero Vida’s twin swappable battery and Simple Energy’s single swappable battery technologiesIndian 2W market has witnessed respectable growth in electric mobility transition in the recent past. Leading this transition is Ola Electric with its S1 range of electric scooters. However, Ola Electric has huge ambitions and the company is foraying into multiple niches within electric mobility. Company’s recent patents reveal swappable battery technology as well.Ola Swappable Battery PatentedIndian electric two-wheeler market is vastly gravitated towards electric scooters than any other body styles. Electric motorcycles are rather few and don’t clock as many sales as electric scooters. So, if a manufacturer is developing a new EV technology, it is highly likely to go on the vehicles that bring in the most volumes.Ola Swappable Battery PatentedBringing Ola Electric into the picture, the electric mobility solutions provider has recently patented swappable battery tech. Currently, Ola only sells S1 range of electric scooters and is on the verge of developing electric motorcycles, electric 3W rickshaws and 3W cargo vehicles. The company is highly likely to offer swappable battery tech with their scooters as they are well-established (India’s best-selling electric 2W range) and have the most potential to make it mainstream. That said, their upcoming electric motorcycles and electric 3W CVs might come equipped with swappable batteries too.Ola ADV BikeOla’s patented design has a nice handle to carry the battery with OLA branding. As of now, the battery capacity or battery chemistry of Ola’s new swappable battery pack is unknown. Also unknown is whether Ola is using their indigenous battery cells in this pack. More details might surface in the future.Application with CVsOla is foraying into electric 3W segment and the company’s recent design patents confirm these speculations. There is an electric rickshaw for last-mile mobility and an electric 3W cargo vehicle for last-mile delivery. Both applications require minimal downtime. With swappable batteries, business owners can ensure maximum uptime.Ola Electric Rickshaw CVAlso, batteries can be offered as a service where buyers don’t have to shell out a hefty up-front cost. With swappable battery tech, an electric vehicle can go from minimum to maximum SOC in a matter of minutes, bypassing charging time. Ola has also patented an electric scooter for commercial purposes and this swappable battery makes a lot of sense for it.Application with PVsCurrently, Hero Vida is the only mainstream brand that is fully invested in swappable battery tech. Honda’s upcoming electric scooter is also likely to go fully swappable battery direction as well. Simple Energy offers one fixed battery and one swappable battery.Ola Cyber Racer Top VariantSwappable batteries have their perks in PV segment. With a swappable or removable battery, charging for an apartment dweller gets a lot more convenient. Considering most EV owners charge their vehicles overnight, swappable batteries make EV ownership a lot easier. Also read – Ola’s commercial scooter design patented More

5 Upcoming Royal Enfield Bikes – Guerrilla 450, Classic Bobber, Bullet 650, Classic 650

Royal Enfield Scram 650We compiled a list of all the probable Royal Enfield launches in the near future, backed by test mules sighted in multiple instancesRoyal Enfield has a lot of motorcycles in the making. Suppose you look at snippets from the company’s internal presentations. In that case, we are awaiting Himalayan Raid 450 or Rally 450, Scram 450, Continental GT-R 450, Himalayan 650, Continental GT-R 650 along with a bunch of speculated EVs and other shenanigans.Going with more concrete probabilities, there are up to 5 upcoming Royal Enfield bikes that have been spotted testing and are likely to launch by the end of 2024 or early 2025. Here is a list of upcoming RE motorcycles spotted testing across 350cc, 450cc and 650cc platforms.Royal Enfield Guerrilla 4501. Guerrilla 450Based on test mule sighting frequencies, Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 launch looks like it is right around the corner. Based on new Himalayan 450 platform, Guerrilla 450 boasts a Roadster-style body that pits it against the likes of other classic Roadsters like Triumph Speed 400, Harley-Davidson X440, Hero Mavrick 440, Yezdi Roadster and the neo-retro Honda CB300R.Where cycle parts are concerned, Guerrilla packs 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless road-biased tyres, RSU telescopic front forks and it lacks all the added mounting frames, windscreen and the heft of Himalayan 450. Owing to less-premium components, Guerrilla 450 will be priced below Himalayan 450. The 40 bhp, 40 Nm Sherpa 450 engine will be retained as is.Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber Patent Image Leaked2. Classic 350 BobberBased on Royal Enfield’s best-selling Classic 350, a new Bobber-style bike is incoming. Initial speculations suggest the name Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber. However, the company has trademarked Goan Classic 350 name in India and is likely to go on this bike. We say Bobber-style and not Bobber version because there doesn’t seem to be any increase in wheelbase.Just an ape-hanger style handlebar, a stubby rear subframe with an optional pillion seat, white-walled tyres, the same tail lights and rear indicators as new Shotgun 650, and not a lot more. It would be nice if RE gave it an extended wheelbase like a proper Bobber. The 20 bhp, 27 Nm J-Series engine will continue as is.Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin3. Classic 650 TwinRoyal Enfield recently trademarked the Classic 650 Twin name. Test mules of the same have been making rounds for some time now. It will be positioned above Interceptor 650 and below Super Meteor 650. In that regard, it misses out on USD telescopic front forks and a few other fancy components.Overall design looks like a proportionately larger Classic 350 and is not a bad thing at all. Classic 650 Twin gets the same chassis as Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650. Powertrain will be shared with other RE 650s in the form of a 648cc parallel twin oil-cooled engine with 47 bhp and 52 Nm.Royal Enfield Bullet 650 Side4. Bullet 650Just like the new Bullet 350, Royal Enfield Bullet 650 will be a variation of Classic 650 Twin. Both motorcycles are essentially cut from the same cloth and get minor design distinctions. Just like their 350cc counterparts, Bullet 350 will be positioned below Classic 650 Twin. Same 47 bhp and 52 Nm engine from Classic 650 Twin will be seen on Bullet 650 as well.Scram 650 with single-sided exhaust5. Scram 650The test mule sightings of Scram 650 have lowered in the recent past. But it is by far the most premium RE 650 bike based on Interceptor 650 platform. Scram 650 (name not confirmed) gets many unique attributes that are not seen on any 650cc Royal Enfield till date. New Tripper Dash and single exhaust setup are among the primary unique attributes. For starters, it is based on Interceptor 650 platform and gets USD telescopic front forks and dual-purpose tyres. As it is based on the compact and lighter Interceptor 650 platform and packs a single exhaust, Scram 650 could be the lightest 650cc Royal Enfield ever.Royal Enfield Scram 650 profile More

2025 Honda Dio 125 Debuts – Gets New Colours, Updates

2025 Honda Dio 125 Debuts As 2025 Elite 125In Brazil, 2025 Honda Dio 125 has been launched in the form of Elite 125 and gets new colours that we don’t get in IndiaDio is among the best-selling scooters in India and is a lethal weapon in Honda’s arsenal. This scooter has seen great popularity in the ASEAN markets and in India. The same has been launched in Brazil for the first time and it replaces the Elite 125 sold there. Where naming is concerned, Honda is sticking to the Elite 125, as it is more familiar in Brazil than Dio name.2025 Honda Dio 125 DebutsElite 125 was the most affordable scooter on sale in Brazil from Honda. It had a polarising design and split opinions in many. Not easy on the eyes, to put it mildly. The futuristic design had excessive cuts, creases and design elements, which wasn’t cup of tea. The new Elite 125 (Dio 125 in India) is a much more mature design in comparison.2025 Honda Elite 125Honda has launched the new 2025 Elite 125 in just one variant priced at 12,966 Brazilian Real, which turns out to be Rs. 2.11 lakh in today’s currency exchange rates. 2025 Honda Elite 125 in Brazil gets four colour choices – Ross White, Lumiar Silver Metallic, Maceio Red and Mystery Blue Metallic. In comparison, India-spec Honda Dio 125 gets Pearl Deep Ground Grey, Mat Axis Grey Metallic, Mat Sangria Red Metallic, Pearl Nightster Black, Pearl Deep Ground Gray, Sports Red, Mat Marvel Blue Metallic, Pearl Siren Blue. It is not like the grass is greener on the other side, but few colours on 2025 Elite 125 look better.2025 Honda Elite 125 ColoursEspecially the Red, Blue and White shades on Brazilian model look nice and clean with minimal stickers. We wish 2025 Honda Dio 125 when launched in India, get these colour combinations too.Specs and FeaturesWhen compared to the previous Elite 125 in Brazil, the new model is larger in all dimensions and looks more substantial. On top of that, new model packs a lower seat height and a larger under-seat storage for convenience. Speaking of convenience, new model brings an external fuel filler cap, which is better engineering than the conventional under-seat solution.2025 Honda Elite 125Dry weight of this scooter is 100 kg. Considering that it is almost identical to Honda Dio 125 (India-spec), kerb weight should be around 104 kg. Where cycle parts are concerned, front RSU telescopic forks get 90mm travel, rear single-sided mono-shock has 70mm travel, 190mm front petal disc and rear 130mm drum brakes are similar to Indian model.Wheels are 12-inches in size and alloys and 2025 Honda Elite 125 in Brazil gets Pirelli Angel scooter tyres. Features-wise, Honda doesn’t seem to be advertising Smart Key and H-Smart Technology with Elite 125 in Brazil, something we get on Dio 125. LED headlights, fully digital instrument cluster are present in Elite 125 too.2025 Honda Elite 125The scooter draws power from a 123.9cc single-cylinder air-cooled 2V SOHC engine that is capable of generating 8.2 bhp of peak power and 10.4 Nm of peak torque. When compared to previous Elite 125, power is down, but the newer model brings an ISG with silent start feature along with engine stop/start feature. More

The former is likely to be the favourite colour for 2024 Yamaha X-Max 250. Ruby Red comes across as a more practical choice for the scooter in comparison to the Icon Black shade.2024 Yamaha X-Max 250 – No mechanical upgradesApart from the new colours, there are no other updates for 2024 Yamaha X-Max 250. The maxi-scooter is equipped with a 249.8 cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine that churns out 22.8 PS and 24.3 Nm. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox. Suspension setup comprises telescopic forks at front and twin rear shock absorbers. With a low seat height of 780 mm, Yamaha X-Max 250 is suitable for a broad segment of users. In addition to its sporty profile, Yamaha X-Max 250 is also preferred for its premium features.
