New CFMoto 125cc Retro Motorcycle Leaks Ahead Of Launch

Expected to be priced around $4500 (approx Rs. 3.7 lakh, ex-sh), CFMoto Papio XO-1’s price tag is not as mini as this mini motorcycle isNew CFMoto 125cc Retro MotorcycleEven though India is short of quirky motorcycles and big bikes, we are in abundance of commuters. Especially budget commuters. Right now, we don’t have any quirky motorcycles on sale. At least from mainstream manufacturers and well-established startups. We had Navi from Honda, which was an attempt to create a mini motorcycle. Even though it may have looked like one, it wasn’t a mini motorcycle. It was just a re-shaped Activa with the same swingarm-mounted engine. In global markets, Honda sells Grom, a proper mini motorcycle. Now it will get a new rival in the form of CFMoto Papio and Papio XO-1. Standard Papio is a mini Street bike, while Papio XO-1 is an incredibly adorable mini Cafe Racer. The latter is something I would buy spontaneously. Would I regret it later? Let’s take a look.New CFMoto 125cc Retro Motorcycle – Papio XO-1Mini motorcycles were never a thing in India. In markets like the USA, these are novelties. This is something you could have a blast on in a trail. Being small and light, one can (relatively) transport these in a hatchback too. One look at CFMoto Papio XO-1, and you can’t help but be smitten. It draws inspiration from the 80s with twin circular headlights housed in a bikini fairing.New CFMoto 125cc Retro MotorcycleBar-end mirrors, clip-on handlebars, a round speedo, a flowing fuel tank and a stubby subframe complete the Cafe Racer look. In some ways, it reminds me of the recently launched Ducati Desert X too. They are type approved in China in two variants and can land in North America in the future. One with ABS and other without.New CFMoto 125cc Retro MotorcycleCFMoto didn’t just slap some parts on standard Papio and call it a day. A lot has changed with XO-1. Handlebars are clip-on and XO-1 gets different fuel tank design, front end, turn indicators, mirrors, seats, footrest mountings, different chain guards and more. Rear is different too as the number plate and blinkers are on this new chain guard as XO-1 features an underbelly muffler.XO-1 also gets front USD forks, twin LED circular headlights, and a fully-digital circular instrument console. The fairing is the main highlight of CFMoto Papio XO-1 over standard Papio. The frame, engine and other components are identical. Speaking of its engine, it is a 126 cc single-cylinder unit making 9.4 bhp and 8.2 Nm.New CFMoto 125cc Retro MotorcyclePurpose of Mini MotorcyclesCFMoto Papio XO-1 reportedly weighs 251 Pounds (113.8 kg). Because it is not a very powerful machine, it is very forgiving for novice riders. If you want to teach your child motorcycling, this would be a perfect tool. As per CFMoto in India, 300 NK, 650 NK, 650 MT and 650 GT are on sale. Weirdly, CFMoto’s 649cc parallel-twin engine is identical to that of Kawasaki’s 649cc engine. Even bore and stroke are identical.Sticking with the Mini motorcycle segment, in their purest form, wouldn’t be feasible for India as they’re quite pricey. Standard CFMoto Papio cost $2,999 (approx Rs. 2.5 lakh, ex-sh). Given the extra coolness and hardware on Papio XO-1, a price tag of $4,500 (approx Rs. 3.7 lakh, ex-sh) is not far-fetched. India launch is not likely. Answering the original question, I wouldn’t regret buying this spontaneously owing to its sheer cool factor. More

TVS Apache 310 Naked Version Launch Soon – TVC Shoot At MMRT

The main rival for this upcoming new TVS Apache based on BMW G 310 R, will be KTM 390 Duke, Bajaj Dominar 400 and Honda CB300RTVS Apache 310 Naked Variant – RTR 310 RenderTVS and BMW partnership have yielded great results for both brands. BMW benefitted from this gig as it not only helped them expand their portfolio, but also enter a new segment. Thanks to which, BMW is registering more sales than ever before. The 310 cc platform with a trellis frame is manufactured here in India by TVS. BMW got three motorcycles out of this platform. G 310 R street bike, G 310 GS adventure bike and G 310 RR sports machine. However, TVS only sold one motorcycle based on this platform. It was the Apache RR 310, a fully-faired sports machine. In fact, BMW G 310 RR is pound for pound, the same bike as Apache RR 310, just Rs. 27,000 more for white colour. Now, sources reveal that TVS is soon going to launch a street motorcycle based on the BMW G 310 R.New TVS Motorcycle Based On BMW G 310 RThe main question arises, whether TVS will go BMW’s route and sell the exact same bike as G 310 R? Or if there will be enough changes. This is a difficult question to answer as of now. But going by our sources, TVC shoot has already begun at MMRT race track, Chennai. Given that this product is already manufactured by TVS, there will be minimal changes to G 310 R. Most of them will be in the design front. Pricing for this motorcycle is likely to be pegged below that of Apache RR 310 starting at Rs. 2.67 lakh (ex-sh).2023 TVS Apache 310 Street RenderOur rendering artist Pratyush Raut has penned down his version of a TVS motorcycle based on BMW G 310 R. We could expect TVS to launch something similar as it is mostly just a rebranding exercise. Final production model sold by TVS could look a lot like our render of this new TVS motorcycle. The bike on which it will be based, BMW G 310 R, is priced at Rs. 2.8 lakh (ex-sh). If we remove BMW premium pricing, a price tag of around Rs. 2.5 lakh to 2.55 lakh (prices ex-sh) is reasonable for this new TVS motorcycle. There is a possibility of it being called Apache R 310 or Apache 310 R or even Apache RTR 310.Specs & FeaturesGiven its expected price tag of around Rs. 2.5 to 2.55 lakh, one would think TVS would cut a lot of corners. If we take Apache RR 310 and BMW G 310 RR as an example, the former gets identical componentry and fairing. In terms of features, it is actually the Apache that is more feature loaded offering smartphone connectivity with TVS proprietary Smart Xonnect tech.2023 TVS Apache 310 Street RenderThis new TVS motorcycle will also get Smart Xonnect connected features via a dedicated app too. Something which BMW G 310 R lacks. Engine, chassis, componentry and tyres are likely the same as BMW G 310 R. The same 312.2cc single-cylinder 4V engine with 33.5 bhp and 27.3 Nm torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox will be carried over as is. More

    Top 10 200cc To 500cc M’Cycles Dec 2022 – Classic, Bullet, CB350, KTM 250

Overall, the 200cc – 500cc segment took a hit as it bled volume by 11.77% YoY and 12.33% MoM – Volume loss was significant tooImage – Yo RiderRoyal Enfield has 6 motorcycles on offer in the 200cc – 500cc segment. Out of the 23 entries on this list, Royal Enfield occupies 1st to 6th spots with its 6 offerings into top 10 motorcycles within this space. Sidelining rivals like this is great, but has the company outdone itself by pushing volumes? Not really. December 2022 is generally not a month for auto manufacturers to flex, as sales are usually meek.Kicking things off with Classic 350 taking top spot on this list with 20,682 units. It was not enough to cross 34,723 units sold in December 2021 and 26,702 in November 2022. Numbers shrunk for Classic 350 by 40.44% YoY and 22.55% MoM. Still, it is the highest volume pusher in 200cc – 500cc segment with 31.50% market share.Top 10 200cc To 500cc M’Cycles Dec 2022Volume loss was 14,041 units YoY and 6,020 units MoM. Hunter 350 closed the gap between Classic 350 with 17,261 units and registered 10.73% MoM growth. With 8,816 units, evergreen Bullet 350 shows green with 9.37% YoY growth and 7.37% MoM growth. Meteor 350 sales stood at 6,298 units and fell into the red completely.Electra 350 just managed to push 3,381 units and was devoid of any positive growth. 25.22% YoY decline and 18.92% MoM decline were registered. Himalayan is the least-selling Royal Enfield but is the highest-selling ADV in 200cc – 500cc space. With 2,257 units, Himalayan fares better than other ADVs and registered MoM growth of 6.41% and sales halved YoY with a 51.05% decline.Motorcycle sales 200cc to 500cc segment – Dec 2022 vs Dec 2021Honda CB350 didn’t fare better as opposed to its rivals. With just 1,022 CB350s sold last month, numbers almost halved MoM with a 49.70% decline and a 25.07% YoY decline. In quarter-litre space, KTM has an upper hand with its 250 lineup. Sales stood at 981 units and both YoY and MoM growth stood at 7.92%. With 72 units gained in volume. Dominar 250 and Dominar 400 took 9th and 10th spots with 406 units and 337 units respectively and failed to register any sort of positive growth.Suzuki’s quarter-liter ADV V Strom 250 SX sold 291 units with an 8.78% decline MoM. KTM’s 390 series fared better YoY with 81.76% growth. However, the 289 units sold last month were not enough to offset 455 units sold a month before. Bajaj’s Avenger 220 and Pulsar 250 series sold 270 units and 245 units respectively. Bajaj’s indigenously developed 250 platform was supposed to be revolutionary, but it seems like they aren’t well received. Apache RR 310 sold 214 units and still didn’t register any positive growth.Bikes With Sub 100 UnitsKawasaki Ninja 300 is the most expensive product on this list. That said, it has been a (relatively) consistent seller since its launch, years ago. Sales declined with just 96 units sold last month. Husqvarna 250 twins sold 66 units with 37.50% YoY growth and Honda CBR300 sold 48 units with 380% YoY growth. Both failed to show growth MoM.Motorcycle sales 200cc to 500cc segment – Dec 2022 vs Nov 2022Gixxer 250 twins sold just 8 units combined in the entire country. This is a really potent platform and is the most underrated motorcycle platform in India. People are likely to be off-put by the way they look. The pricey Kawasaki Ninja 400 sold just 2 units and FZ25 sold just 1.Classic Legends sold a total of 2,681 units of Jawa and Yezdi bikes combined and registered a 7.93% YoY growth and a 27.01% MoM decline. In total, 200cc – 500cc motorcycles segment sold 65,652 units. This wasn’t enough to cross 74,411 units sold in Dec 2021 and 74,884 units sold in Nov 2022. Hence, sales fell by 11.77% YoY and 12.33% MoM. Volume loss stood at 8,759 units YoY and 9,232 units MoM. More

New Honda Electric Bikes For Entry Level Segment – Debuts

Honda is stepping up focus on expanding its EV portfolio, as part of its goal to become carbon neutral by 2050New Honda Electric Bike – Zoomer EIn the initial phase of its EV roadmap, Honda will be launching at least 10 electric two-wheelers globally by 2025. EV sales target is set at one million units by 2027. By the end of this decade, Honda EV sales will be around 3.5 million units. However, ICE-based models will continue to be the mainstay for Honda in this decade. By 2030, EV sales will contribute just around 15% of Honda’s total sales. Making a complete shift to electric is a ginormous task that needs to be executed in a planned, phased manner.Honda new electric bikes unveiledHonda has showcased some of its new electric bikes, which include Cub e, Dax e and Zoomer e. These are based on their respective petrol-powered counterparts. China is the first market to get these new e-bikes. Honda’s initial EV strategy seems similar to that of other OEMs, wherein existing petrol-powered machines are being fitted with electric powertrains. This approach is being preferred, as it saves development costs and reduces time-to-market.Honda’s electric cubs look super cute, which makes them an appropriate choice for Gen Z. There’s greater acceptance for EVs among the young generation and Honda is ensuring that multiple options are available. Honda’s new e-bikes have a minimalistic design and are built for utility. These are best suited for short sprints across city streets.New Honda Electric Bike – Dax EIn many global markets, Honda’s new entry-level electric bikes may not require a driving licence. That’s because top speed is limited to 15 mph (approx. 24 kmph). Range will apparently be less in comparison to standard electric bikes, but it won’t be a problem with options like fast charging and battery swapping. Moreover, Cub e, Dax e and Zoomer e are all equipped with pedals. Even if the batteries run out for any reason or in case of other malfunction, the bikes can be used as a bicycle. Their lightweight profile ensures that users won’t have to huff and puff to run them on human power. The idea is pretty similar to Kinetic Luna that also had pedals for emergency use.Honda EV plans for IndiaIt is not certain if Honda electric cubs will be launched in India. Instead of experimenting, Honda appears to have taken a safer approach for Indian market. Honda’s first electric two-wheeler for India will be Activa Electric that is planned for launch in January 2024. This has been confirmed by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) MD and CEO Atsushi Ogata.New Honda Electric Bike – Cub EActiva electric scooter will have a top speed of 50 kmph. This is quite less in comparison to current industry average of around 80-100 kmph. Range of Activa electric has not been disclosed, but it should be enough for everyday needs. After Activa electric, which is essentially a retrofit project, Honda will launch its first born-electric bike in India. It will come with all the bells and whistles, as expected from a modern electric scooter. Honda is most likely to offer swappable battery tech to eliminate the hassles of range anxiety. The company will be targeting increased localization, so that their electric scooters could be launched at a competitive price point. More

New Hero Xoom 110 Vs Activa Vs Dio Vs Jupiter – Official TVC

Hero Xoom 110 scooter undercuts Honda Activa 6G in across the variants – Offers more tech, features, flash value and a lot of sportinessNew Hero Xoom ScooterHero Moto seems to be on the verge of turning the scooter market in its favour. This 2W behemoth already has the Indian budget commuter motorcycle segment in its grasp and is the largest 2W manufacturer in India in volumes. There is not much action for Hero in scooter segment as Honda has firmly established its dominance here. With the Activa range, Honda is the highest scooter maker in India. Hero aims to grab some of this pie as it launched Xoom 110 sporty scooter in India, priced between Rs 68.5K – 76.6K. With Xoom 110, Hero aims to intrude into bubbles of Activa 110, Dio and Jupiter 110. Let’s take a look if Hero has a compelling proposition on paper.Hero Xoom 110 Vs RivalsWhere dimensions are concerned, Hero has tried to offer a lot of road presence. In that sense, Xoom is the longest at 1,881 mm and has the longest wheelbase of 1,300 mm. It is not very tall as that cake is taken by Activa. Dio is the widest and at just 650 mm, Jupiter is the narrowest. Xoom weighs more than all of its rivals at up to 109 kg. It is definitely not as light as Dio at 105 kg.Where boot space is concerned, Xoom’s official number is not yet revealed. But it can’t be as big as Jupiter’s 33L, which can house two helmets in ease and more. Even though Xoom is not the tallest, it has the highest seat height at 770 mm. Ground clearance of Activa is unmatched in this competition.Hero Xoom 110 Vs RivalsAll scooters get front telescopic forks and rear single-sided mono spring unit. Only Xoom and Jupiter offer front-disc brake options. Hondas should make do with 130mm drum brakes at both ends. Jupiter’s front disc is 220mm, while Xoom’s is 190mm. Xoom and Jupiter offer 12” wheels at both ends, whereas Honda duo gets 12” front and 10” at the rear. ABS is not offered with any.A 110 cc engine is common with all scooters in this comparo. Hero offers most power at 8.05 bhp, but torque figure is lower than Dio’s 9 Nm. There is not much to brag about performance as they are almost similar. Jupiter gets a 6L fuel tank, highest on this list.FeaturesHero Xoom 110 gets X-shaped LED DRLs at front with LED headlights. This gives Xoom its distinct look and Hero offers it as standard. Dio offers DRLs too but they’re mostly like pilot lamps. Activa and Jupiter don’t get DRLs. LED headlights are standard with Xoom and Jupiter, whereas Activa and Dio get them on Deluxe trims onwards. Take a look at the official TVC of the new Hero XOOM below.[embedded content][embedded content]Activa is the only one offering LED tail lights as standard and an anti-theft system with top-spec Smart Key trim. Others don’t get these. Hero and TVS offer connected tech with a proprietary smartphone app for integration, but the Honda duo lacks the same. Activa 6G only gets an analog instrument cluster and Activa 125 gets a digital unit. Digital instrumentation is standard with Hero Xoom 110 and Honda Dio, while it is only offered with top-spec Jupiter trims.Xoom 110 should have offered an external fuel filler cap, as every scooter in this list does. Hero should consider offering more colours to appeal to young audiences as 5 is not enough, especially compared to 10 on Activa 6G, 11 on Dio and 16 on Jupiter. Entry price-point of Xoom 110 is Rs. 68.5K and is on par with Dio and Jupiter. Activa 6G prices start from Rs. 74.5K and go till Rs. 80.5K. Xoom 110 undercuts Activa 6G pricing across the range and offers more features and flash value. Jupiter’s pricing goes till Rs. 86.2K as it offers a windscreen, pillion backrest and other goodies with top-spec trims. More

Honda Hawk 11 Cafe Racer Patented In India – Launch Planned?

Based on the same 1086 cc parallel-twin engine as Africa Twin, Honda Hawk 11 churns out around 100 bhp power and 104 Nm torqueNew Honda Hawk 11 Cafe Racer. Image – AutoByHonda motorcycles currently have 4 big bikes in its portfolio as listed on its Big Wing website. CB500X was taken offline, added back and now taken offline again. CBR-1000RR-R Fireblade has been added back too, which was off-site for a very long time. Now, there is CBR650R, Fireblade, Africa Twin and Gold Wing.As far as sales are concerned, Honda sold zero big bikes in India in December 2022. With Kawasaki’s aggressive pricing strategy, Team Green is taking over Team Blue and Team Red. In fact, Suzuki does a lot better in this regard with Hayabusa and Katana.Honda Hawk 11 Cafe RacerHonda has patented a new big bike in India. It is Hawk 11 and is based on the same 1082 cc parallel-twin platform as Africa Twin. Hawk 11 is a neo retro-themed cafe-racer motorcycle. Is Honda launching this motorcycle in India? If so, can this be the one to etch Honda’s name in sales charts more? Let’s take a look. This cool-looking cafe racer motorcycle was first showcased by Honda at the 2022 Osaka Motorcycle Show. This is the spiritual successor of CB1100 Roadster which is now discontinued in Honda’s global portfolio. It is interesting to note that just a few months after its debut, Honda filed a patent for Hawk 11 motorcycle.New Honda Hawk 11 Cafe Racer patented in IndiaThe patent has been filed on 2nd of August 2022, just around 4 months after global premiere. This might be a hint that a launch is imminent and Honda has reserved its interests for India. Or Honda just casually patented it in India to maybe launch it someday if market demands exist. We would wager on the latter as Honda has quite a few patents in India that never materialised. The looks are to die for as it pays tribute to cafe racers of yesteryear while donning modern design language. There is a circular LED headlight at the front enclosed in a bikini fairing. Round ORVMs extend beyond the width of its clip-on handlebars. There is a stubby sub-frame and a slightly exposed frame from within bodywork. Componentry includes front USD forks, dual disc setup at front, alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, and more. Exhaust is rather chunky and angles upwards at a similar angle as its subframe.Specs & FeaturesIt is based on the same 1082 cc parallel-twin engine kicking out around 100 bhp of power at 7500 RPM and 104 Nm of torque at 6250 RPM. It gets liquid cooling, a 6-speed gearbox and other equipment expected at this price point. Honda Hawk 11 is the third bike based on this platform after Africa Twin and NT1100. The latter is also reserved for India, which never materialised.New Honda Hawk 11 Cafe RacerIn JDM, Honda Hawk 11 costs 13,97,000 Yen which roughly translates to Rs. 8.94 lakh. If Honda premium tax in India and other Indian duties are considered, we can expect pricing over Rs. 12 lakh. There is another ‘blast from the past’ motorcycle like Honda Hawk 11 currently enjoying a niche at this price point. It is a Suzuki Katana. Both Katana and Hawk 11 are neo-retro motorcycles with bikini fairing. If Honda wants to pit a handsome opponent to rival Katana, Hawk 11 is the fitting choice. Launch is not confirmed by HMSI yet.
