Yamaha 150cc Adventure Motorcycle Launch Planned For India

Keeping costs in mind, new Yamaha ADV can just be a pseudo one that is based on FZ-X and not a full-blown off-roader like WR 155R2023 Yamaha Crosser 150cc ADV image for illustration purposeYamaha is yet to launch an ADV in the Indian market. Not that Yamaha lacks ADVs and off-roaders in its arsenal. They have many on offer in the international market. Just that India has missed out on an ADV from Team Blue.Speaking about ADV motorcycles on sale in India – At the lower end of the spectrum, we have seen that ADVs and off-roaders have sprung up a lot lately. With Xpulse 200 being the go-to off-roader, we also have CB200X from Honda. There is wiggle room for an ADV from a mainstream manufacturer that would slot between Xpulse and Himalayan.Yamaha 150cc Adventure MotorcycleYamaha seems to have understood this and has recently revealed that a 125cc to 155cc ADV is under consideration. According to a recent report, Yamaha is planning to launch a premium ADV based on an engine with displacement ranging from 125cc to 155cc. Yamaha India Chairman, Eishin Chihana said that ADVs are in focus, owing to its massive popularity in the country. He added that Yamaha India is considering possibilities of an ADV within the 125cc to 155cc space. This narrows down the search to FZ-X based pseudo-ADV and WR 155R, which is a proper off-roader. WR 155R is one of the best off-road tools in Yamaha’s arsenal and is said to be a proper hoot.Yamaha FZ-X modified ADV by Zero CustomsIt has a 155.1cc engine that makes around 16 bhp of power and 14 Nm of torque. It gets 21” front and 18” rear spoke wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres. Add to it long travel suspension and a 245 mm ground clearance, the trail would go on as long as its 8L fuel tank would allow. If Yamaha considers this, it would be a lot more expensive than Xpulse 200 4V.If Yamaha is serious about launching an ADV in India, we would wager that it would be a pseudo-ADV based on the currently sold FZ-X. We recently covered an ADV based on FZ-X recently which won a customisation challenge held by the company. Something similar to that, has a good chance of making it to production.Legendary RX100 Will Be BackThe prospect of a pseudo ADV based on FZ-X is not very exciting. What is exciting though, is that Yamaha RX100 would be back with an ICE engine. Only this time, it would don a bigger engine than 100cc.This way, Yamaha will match the upcoming RX motorcycle with OG RX100 in terms of performance and character. Next gen RX100 will launch in a few years. Yamaha’s ADV might launch before that.Source More

Hero XPulse 200T Facelift Launch Price Rs 1.25 L – 3 New Colours

Hero XPulse 200T is conceived as a touring version of the capable XPulse 200 off-roaderHero XPulse 200T FaceliftHero MotoCorp has been ramping up sales like clockwork. The company has a portfolio of some of the most value-for-money products. Models like Splendor are still going strong crushing every other motorcycle to become the highest-selling motorcycle in India as seen in our top motorcycles post.If we take the company’s current flagship XPulse range, even though they don’t sell like Pulsar series or Apache series or FZ series, they still make their way to top 10 lists in Hero’s sales as seen the Hero sales breakup post. But within this 200cc platform, 200S and 200T are not that popular and Hero is fixing one of those with a facelift.Hero XPulse 200T FaceliftHero has updated the XPulse 200T for the 2023 model year with a facelift. Launch price is Rs 1,25,726, ex-sh. Anyone remember the XPulse 200 Scrambler Concept that Hero showed off in 2018? No? We mention it because the subtle changes XPulse 200T gets, reminds us of that concept. Changes are a small body-coloured visor identical to the one on Scrambler Concept, a fork gaiter (fork boots) and blacked-out aesthetics.Front forks and exhaust cover are now finished in black or dark grey. Also new is the engine guard or the belly pan with a new design. Grab rails are also new and are simpler than the ones currently on sale. Headlight unit and handlebar are still the same. But the new 200T gets a new red insert on the cylinder head, something we recently saw on XPulse 200 4V Rally Edition.Hero XPulse 200T FaceliftRanjivjit Singh, Chief Growth Officer (CGO), Hero MotoCorp said, “XPulse has built a robust position among motorcycling enthusiasts in India, and we are certain that this trend will be further strengthened with the launch of the new Hero XPulse 200T 4V.Offering a distinctive experience to riders, the Hero XPulse 200T 4V truly comes in an all-new avatar, with its bold, youthful, and retro design elements. An embodiment of endless highways, and the dream of freedom, the new motorcycle is engineered to deliver an unmatched touring experience with utmost comfort and performance.”Powertrain SpecsHero XPulse 200T facelift gets the same 4V head as we saw with the XPulse 200 off-roader. It churns out a maximum power of 19.1 PS @ at 8500 RPM and torque of 17.3 Nm @ 6500rpm (6% more power and 5% added torque). Thus making it more touring-friendly, thanks to the re-tuned power-torque curve and revised transmission ratio. It will come mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Rest of the components like alloy wheels, petal disc brakes, suspension (37mm front forks & 7-step adjustable mono-shock suspension) and exhaust unit seems to be the same as well. The motorcycle comes loaded with a variety of intelligent assistance systems including best-in-class turn-by-turn navigation, LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, gear indicator, trip meter and service reminder that make your journey even safer and more comfortable. It comes in 3 colour options of Matt Funk Lime Yellow, Matt Shield Gold and Sports Red. Bajaj Platina ABS 110cc Launch Price 72k – First In Segment

Bajaj Platina 110 ABS will ensure better safety for riders, who often have to deal with panic braking situationsBajaj Platina ABS 110ccContinuing on its mission to improve overall user experience, Bajaj has launched Platina 110 ABS. It is India’s first motorcycle in 100-110cc segment to offer the safety net of ABS. The bike also gets a digital speedometer that shows a broader range of information including ABS indicator.Even with first-in-segment ABS features and other updates, Bajaj has ensured that Platina 110 does not compromise on the affordability factor. Platina 110 ABS is available at a starting price of Rs 72,224 (ex-showroom Delhi). This is around the same as 100cc Splendor Plus, the largest selling motorcycle in the country.Bajaj Platina 110 ABSRiding on two wheels can never be 100% safe. But at least new features can reduce some of the risks that riders face on an everyday basis. Platina 110 ABS does just that by providing the right equipment to effectively deal with panic braking situations. Based on consumer feedback, it was noted that one of the key challenges two-wheeler users face is panic braking. Such situations can arise due to various factors such as stray animals, rash driving, bad patches on the roads, potholes, wrong side driving, etc.ABS helps, as it significantly improves balance, handling and stability in such challenging situations. ABS also reduces braking distance, which helps avoid direct collisions. With ABS, users can avoid skidding and crashing, which can result in serious bruising and other injuries. ABS becomes all the more important here, as India accounts for the world’s highest road deaths. Among them, around 45% of the accidents involve two-wheelers.Bajaj Platina ABS 110ccApart from improved braking, Platina 110 ABS is equipped with a new digital speedometer. It displays a range of information including ABS indicator, gear indicator and gear guidance. Platina 110 ABS has longer front and rear suspension that helps avoid jerks and vibrations. The bike has a long, wide and well-padded seat for optimal comfort of both rider and pillion. Platina 110 ABS has state-of-the-art headlight with integrated DRL, which ensures clear visibility to the rider. Will other commuter bikes get ABS?Segment-first features are always welcome and even more so when they are meant to prevent injuries and save lives. In various tests, ABS has demonstrated its capabilities to prevent accidents. As ABS offers clear, scientifically verifiable benefits, it raises the question as to why it should not be made mandatory for all two wheelers. If helmets can be made mandatory, why not ABS?Increased cost is apparently the primary resistance, but if Bajaj can do it why not others. Lakhs of 100-110cc bikes are sold annually, which demonstrates the significant number of users that stand to gain with ABS.Even if there is no regulatory intervention, it is possible that market forces may prompt other OEMs to introduce ABS with their commuter bikes. People who care about their safety and their loved ones will naturally prefer bikes that offer enhanced safety. More

    New BMW S1000RR Vs Rivals – Yamaha R1, CBR 1000RR-R, Panigale, ZX-10R

Even though Yamaha R1, Honda Fireblade and Suzuki GSXR-1000 are not currently offered in India, they rival BMW S1000RRBMW S1000RR Vs RivalsAfter the launch of BMW G 310 RR, BMW have now turned towards its flagship litre-class motorcycle that sits in 200 bhp+ category. This is where racing machines like Kawasaki ZX-10R, Aprilia RSV4 1100, Ducati Panigale V4, Yamaha YZF-R1, Honda CBR 1000RR-R Fireblade and Suzuki GSXR-1000 currently party. We are aware that the latter three motorcycles are currently not on sale in India. But it would be unfair to leave these stalwarts behind just because India doesn’t get them. In global markets, these litre class machines are hugely popular after middle-weight machines. Let’s see how the recently launched BMW S 1000 RR fares.BMW S1000RR Vs RivalsStarting with their prices, it is Kawasaki ZX-10R at Rs. 15.99 lakh that absolutely decimates its rivals as it is brought into the country via CKD route while the rest are imports. At Rs. 26.49 lakh, Standard Panigale V4 is more expensive than top-spec BMW S1000RR Pro M Sport which is priced at 24.55 lakh. Top-spec SP2 variant of Ducati Panigale V4 costs a hefty Rs. 40.99 lakh (all prices ex-sh).Highest displacement among this bunch goes to Italians. RSV4 displaces 1099cc and Panigale displaces 1103cc, while Japs and Germans stick within 1000cc. Outright power award goes to Honda Fireblade with 215 bhp and R1 makes the least power at 194.3 bhp. Both Italians make their power lower in the range of 13,000 RPM. Fireblade makes its excess power at 14,500 RPM.BMW S1000RR Vs RivalsTorque war is dominated by Aprilia. It makes the highest torque at 125 Nm at 10,500 RPM. That said, Ducati is not far off with 123.4 Nm, but this torque comes in at just 9,500 RPM. Fireblade, on paper, looks the laziest as it makes its 113 Nm torque at 12,500 RPM. All the motorcycles come with a 6-speed gearbox with quick shifters and top speed hovers around 300 km/h mark.Ducati Panigale V4 has the longest wheelbase at 1469mm and Yamaha R1 has the shortest at 1405mm aiding handling. Suzuki GSXR-1000 and BMW S1000RR are short-rider-friendly with relatively low seat height. Kawasaki ZX-10R is the lightest motorcycle of the bunch weighing in at just 193 kg and RSV4 is the heaviest at 202 kg.SpecsWhile all litre-class bikes come with the same front tyre size, S1000RR, RSV4, Panigale V4 and Fireblade offer 200-section rear tyre, while rest come shod with 190-section tyre wrapped to 17” alloy wheels at both front and back. Ducati is the only one offering a 245mm rear disc and the rest of the rivals come with 220mm rear disc. Braking hardware on all motorcycles are handled by flagship equipment by makers like Nissin and Brembo.BMW S1000RR is the only one that features larger 45mm front adjustable USD forks which are from Marzocchi as opposed to 43mm forks from brands like Ohlins and WP. Some top-spec variants also offer electronically adjustable suspensions as well. Something that BMW misses on. All the motorcycles come packed to the gills with electronic aids to aid performance. With an almost 18L fuel tank, Aprilia offers the longest track time before refilling. As Kawasaki is locally assembled, it offers a stunning proposition of highest performance for just Rs. 15.99 lakh (ex-sh). As to why Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki don’t bring their enthusiast track bikes to India, it is best known to them. More

Honda Electric Motorcycle Design Sketch – USD Forks, Dual Disc

Honda has chalked out aggressive plans for EV segment, with target to launch at least 10 new electric-two-wheelers by 2025Honda Electric Bike TeasersAs part of its program to achieve carbon neutrality, Honda will be stepping-up focus on introducing multiple electric two-wheelers as well as flex-fuel vehicles. Honda’s electric portfolio will include electric bikes, mopeds, commuters and more powerful, performance-oriented electric bikes. To expedite the process, Honda has teamed up with other companies such as Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha. The collaboration will entail development of standardized swappable battery architecture. Such collaborations will help reduce development and production cost, which will benefit all stakeholders and the entire electric two-wheeler ecosystem.Honda electric bike designBased on design sketch of Honda’s upcoming electric bike, it is evident that the brand’s signature styling will continue in electric segment. This is especially true for its performance-oriented electric bikes. The image of the bike was posted by the American division of Honda. Design language of the bike looks familiar to that of recently launched CB750 Hornet and CB300F.As compared to electric scooters that offer more freedom to experiment with the design, the choices are fairly limited in case of electric bikes. A major reason is placement of battery, which has to be centrally mounted. To ensure an optimal centre of gravity, the most suitable place is lower middle section. This is where ICE-based motorcycles have their engine. Most electric bikes follow the same approach and it continues with Honda’s upcoming electric bike.Honda Electric Motorcycle Design SketchWhile only the side view is visible in the sketch, the outline of a flat-type, aggressive front fascia can be seen. Other key features include low-set handlebar, USD front forks in golden finish, sculpted fuel tank, step-up seat, short tail section, alloy wheels, disc brakes at both ends and sporty graphics.Body panelling is closely knit and tightly packed, which helps ensure a compact look and feel for the bike. Covers for the battery and electric powertrain are done in metallic finish, which introduces another layer of aesthetic dynamism. As this is a design sketch, there are likely to be several iterations before the bike reaches production stage. Newer innovations in battery technology and linked hardware could also influence the final design of the bike.Honda electric two-wheeler for IndiaHonda’s Benly e: electric scooter has been spied on road tests multiple times. Either Benly e: could be launched in India or there could be an entirely new product. With Activa the current bestseller, Honda could introduce a similar product in electric format to target the mass market.
