Once revered as the do-it-all motorcycle, has been reborn in its 3rd generation avatar as a sporty and performant machine. Enthusiasm among enthusiasts is high and reflects in the 13,688 bookings that Hero MotoCorp has garnered in a month.Hero MotoCorp had set an introductory price of Rs. 1.73 lakh (ex-sh) and it ended recently. Early adopters who booked their Karizma XMR between August 29th and September 30th got this intro pricing. The booking window is currently closed. Hero will soon announce the new booking window adhering to regular pricing.After a month of introductory pricing, Hero has now revealed regular pricing for Karizma XMR 210. It costs Rs. 1.8 lakh (ex-sh), which is Rs. 7,000 more than introductory pricing. Karizma XMR 210 motorcycles have been dispatched to dealerships already and deliveries will commence this month. Probably on the first day of Navratri.       Two Wheeler Sales Sep 2023 – Hero, Honda, TVS, Bajaj, Suzuki, RE

      Image – MRD VlogsHero MotoCorp and Honda Two Wheelers commanded the domestic sales list with a combined 60 percent shareTaking the leading 6 two-wheeler makers into account, two-wheelers saw increased demand both in domestic and global markets in September 2023 as the country enters the peak of the festive season. Hero MotoCorp continued to dominate the sales charts in domestic markets while Bajaj Auto saw the most exports. Two-wheeler sales of six major companies such as Hero MotoCorp, Honda, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto, Suzuki and Enfield saw a 1.43 percent growth in domestic markets on a YoY basis while exports increased by 5.07 percent.HMSI Achieves over 5 lakh unit Sales in September 2023It was Hero MotoCorp and Honda that led the segment to command a combined 60 percent share on the domestic list. Total domestic sales of these 6 leading two-wheeler makers stood at 16,72,653 units in September 2023, up 1.43 percent from 16,49,062 units sold in September 2022. It was also a MoM growth of 11.96 percent from 14,94,024 units sold in August 2023.Hero MotoCorp achieved over 5 lakh sales in the past month to mark its highest sales for FY2023-24. Sales in September 2023 stood at 5,19,789 units, up 2.38 percent YoY over 5,07,690 units sold in September 2022. This was a 12,099 unit volume growth with Hero holding a 31.08 percent share on this list. MoM sales also improved by 9.90 percent from 4,72,947 units sold in August 2023.It was the Hero Splendor, Passion and Pleasure that continued to bring in rich rewards for the company. At No. 2 was Honda with 4,91,802 units sold last month. This related to a 0.59 percent YoY growth over 4,88,924 units sold in September 2022 while MoM sales grew by 9 percent when compared to 4,51,200 units sold in August 2023. Honda commands a 29.40 percent share among the top 6 two-wheeler makers.Two Wheeler Domestic Sales Sep 2023Honda launched the new limited edition Activa scooter in the past month. It is being offered with DLX and Smart variants only and priced at Rs. 80,734 and Rs. 82,734 respectively. TVS also posted increased sales both on YoY and MoM basis in September 2023 at 3,00,493 units. It related to a 5.58 percent YoY and 17.10 MoM growth with TVS Motor holding a 17.97 percent share on this list. TVS launched the Apache RTR 310 in September 2023 developed in collaboration with BMW.Domestic Sales boomed in September 2023The domestic sales list had Bajaj Auto at No. 4 with a YoY sales de-growth of 9.15 percent to 2,02,510 units from 2,22,912 units sold in September 2022. It however made up in terms of MoM sales which improved by 25.92 percent over 1,60,820 units sold in August 2023. Both Suzuki and Royal Enfield posted YoY and MoM growth of 83,798 units and 74,261 units respectively. Two Wheeler exports also increased YoY and MoM in September 2023 by 5.07 percent and 4.32 percent respectively.Exports stood at 2,82,027 units in September 2023, up from 2,68,408 units exported in September 2022 while in August 2023 exports had been at 2,70,343 units. It was Bajaj Auto that led the export list with 1,25,202 units shipped in the past month with a 44.39 percent share on this list. This was a 0.19 percent YoY de-growth from 1,25,202 units shipped in September 2022 while MoM sales improved marginally by 0.80 percent from 1,24,211 units exported in August 2023.Two Wheeler Exports Sales Sep 2023TVS Motor exports increased YoY and MoM by 11.06 percent and 14.53 percent respectively to 86,462 units. Honda exports also saw a surge by 18.76 percent and 33.37 percent YoY and MoM to 35,196 units while Hero MotoCorp exports stood at 16,710 units relating to a 35.96 percent YoY and 5.96 percent MoM growth. Trailing the list were Suzuki and Royal Enfield, both of which have seen exports fall YoY and MoM to 14,138 units and 4,319 units respectively.Total Domestic Sales and Exports in September 2023Taking total domestic sales and exports of these 6 two-wheeler makers into account, sales stood at 19,54,680 units in September 2023, up 1.94 percent over 19,17,470 units sold in September 2022. MoM sales also improved by 10.79 percent compared to 17,64,367 units sold in August 2023. Hero sales topped the charts with 5,36,499 units relating to a 3.18 percent YoY and 9.78 percent MoM growth.Two Wheeler Total Sales Sep 2023It was followed by Honda with two-wheeler sales at 5,26,998 units up 1.63 percent YoY and 10.35 percent MoM. TVS Motor also saw its total sales grow by 6.97 percent YoY and 16.51 percent MoM to 3,86,955 units while sales of Bajaj Auto dipped 5.93 percent YoY to 3,27,712 units but improved by 14.97 percent MoM. The fourth instalment of FZ range, FZ-S Fi Ver 4.0, now gets two colours – Dark Matte Blue and Matte Black. Yamaha has priced it at Rs. 1,28,900 (ex-sh) and it now becomes the most affordable colours of FZ Fi V4 lineup.Yamaha FZ V4 Gets Two New ColoursAhead of festive season, Yamaha is bringing newness with its FZ V4 lineup by launching Dark Matte Blue and Matte Black. These are the only two colour options with FZ-S Fi Ver 4.0 and they are Dark Matte Blue and Matte Black. Both of these colours are priced at Rs. 1,28,900 (ex-sh).Matte Black shade gets an all-black finish along with a subtle red pinstripe on both alloy wheels. Dark Matte Blue, however, has a white pinstripe on both alloy wheels. Yamaha still offers the chrome-finished surrounds for fake vents on fuel tank shrouds, which could have been black or a darker shade.That design element is not to everyone’s taste. For Rs. 500 more, Yamaha offers FZ-S Fi Ver 4.0 DLX with dual-tone seat covers and a colour-coded alloy wheel finish. There are three shades with DLX model – Metallic Grey, Metallic Black and Majesty Red. All three shades still keep the chrome surrounds on fuel tank extensions.Yamaha FZ-S Fi Ver 4.0 Dark Matte BlueMetallic Grey gets Racing Blue coloured alloy wheels and a Black seat cover. Metallic Black and Majesty Red gets Gold-finished alloy wheels and a pastel red seat cover. Yamaha surprisingly doesn’t offer a split seat setup with FZ-S Fi Ver 4.0 and its DLX variant even today.What is new?The main highlight of Ver 4.0 over Ver 3.0 is in its headlights. Ver 4.0 gets a new headlight design that packs twin LED DRLs along with it. This design is not to everyone’s taste either. Except for the colours, actual motorcycle is completely similar to what it has been. It is a no-nonsense premium commuter motorcycle.It packs a 149cc single-cylinder 2V SOHC engine that is capable of outputting 12.4 PS of peak power at 7,250 RPM and 13.3 Nm of torque at 5,500 RPM, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Yamaha is offering a traction control system in the mix as well. This is an air-cooled engine that boasts a simplistic setup and good fuel efficiency.Yamaha FZ-S Fi Ver 4.0 Matte BlackComponentry includes RSU telescopic front forks, mono-shock rear suspension, alloy wheels, single-disc setup at both ends, and single-channel ABS among others. The fully digital LCD display has Bluetooth connectivity, but not turn-by-turn navigation. We would like it if Yamaha brings the same updates it brought to this motorcycle in Brazil (2023 Fazer FZ-15). More

      Bajaj Sunny EV SpottedThe new upcoming Bajaj Sunny EV spotted testing has almost identical design and aesthetics of old ICE Sunny scooter sold in mid-90sWords scooter (ICE) and Bajaj don’t often go hand in hand in a sentence in recent past. Last ever scooter from Bajaj I could remember, is Kristal. Many have no recollection of Kristal too. That said, Bajaj used to make popular scooters in the past like Chetak and Sunny. Now that Chetak is resurrected in EV guise, Sunny EV resurrection is underway too, as seen from spy shots.Bajaj Sunny Scooter Spotted Testing – Back from the dead!The Indian 2W and 3W manufacturer, Bajaj Auto, has a diverse portfolio both here in India and abroad. With EV scene on the rise, Bajaj seems to be carving a niche for itself new entrants and mainstream bikemakers. The company currently has Chetak e-scooter which is getting a hub motor and is homologated too.There seems to be space for an entry-level e-scooter in Bajaj’s portfolio that may be filled by upcoming Sunny. Considering how old Bajaj Sunny is, there has to be a major design overhaul, right? Wrong. Bajaj seems to be playing nostalgia card or affordability card as upcoming Bajaj Sunny EV is almost identical to old Sunny (ICE scooter).The round headlights, minimal body panels, rectangular tail lights, 3-spoke steel wheels, slim and long seat, thin aprons and long front fender is reminiscent of Bajaj Sunny of the yesteryears. There are some differences, though. For starters, the spare wheel placed at the footwell is now replaced with a battery pack and rear wheel is swapped for a hub motor.Bajaj Sunny EV floorboard-mounted batteryThis is the first time Bajaj is testing an exposed and removable battery. Seeing how exposed the battery is, it wouldn’t fly in India when it goes on sale. This is likely to be a pre-production unit and production-spec model may get a concealed battery, taking up floorboard real estate. Side exhaust is gone and rear now gets a hub motor.Why though?Other tiny details that are different with this new test mule include conventional ORVMs instead of round ones of mid-90s Bajaj Sunny. Turn indicators are much sleeker and probably have LEDs too. Pillion grab rail is redesigned and still features a rack as well. Looking at this motorcycle, it would be a slow-speed scooter (top speed below 25 km/h).Bajaj Sunny EV – New Vs OldWe hope the front suspension setup has telescopic forks and not steel springs. More performance than the 3 bhp 60cc engine on old Bajaj Sunny would not be a stretch to imagine. But it begs the question of existence. Why is it under testing? Does Bajaj intend to launch it in India or just ship it to under-developed nations?It doesn’t make much sense as a last-mile-delivery application because of its floorboard-mounted battery setup. Speaking of last-mile-delivery applications, there is a very good chance of this being based on Yulu scooters too. Since this is the first-ever sighting of Bajaj Sunny EV, more test mules will follow in the future and reveal more details.Source More

Legacy brand, Harley-Davidson, has entered this space in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp and launched X440 roadster-style bike. Deliveries will commence from October 15th and bookings have been re-opened with revised pricing.Harley-Davidson X440 Deliveries October 15thHero and Harley-Davidson partnership has launched its maiden product, X440, in India on July 3rd, 2023. The roadster-styled vehicle was on offer with an introductory price ranging between Rs. 2.29 lakh and Rs. 2.69 lakh (ex-sh). Within a month, the company closed booking portal for X440 on August 3rd, 2023.Deliveries were slated for October. Now, the company has officially revealed delivery dates. Aligning with Indian festive season, Harley-Davidson will commence deliveries on first day of Navratri festival on 15th October 2023. Manufacturing has commenced at Hero MotoCorp’s Garden Factory at Neemrana, Rajasthan.Test rides for booked customers have commenced since 1st of September in a phased manner. As of now, bookings are closed and Hero and Harley intend to re-open booking window from 16th October onwards with revised pricing. The introductory price was for early bookings only which lasted for exactly a month.Harley-Davidson X440 test ridesSpecs and pricingRevised prices range between Rs. 2.4 lakh for base Denim variant, Rs. 2.6 lakh for mid-spec Vivid variant and Rs. 2.8 lakh for top-spec S variant (all prices mentioned are ex-sh). The new pricing is Rs. 10,500 more expensive than introductory prices across the variants. The 440cc engine with 27 bhp of power and 38 Nm of torque remains identical across variants.Componentry includes USD front forks, rear twin shock absorbers, option between wire-spoke and alloy wheels, a single disc brake setup at both ends and more. Features list includes LED lighting all around, a TFT instrument screen with Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone compatibility.The tussle with Ultraviolette Automotive doesn’t seem to be phase Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson. In that regard, there has been quite an overhaul in Hero’s premium lineup along with new launches like Karizma XMR 210 and a separate dealer network for these bikes. Upcoming Xpulse 210 and Xtreme 210 will be a perfect example of this strategy.Hero Xpulse 210 Testing In Khardung LaHero’s Xpulse 200 4V ADV has been a fabulous product from day one. The company has updated this potent machine three times (BS6, 4V and 2023 Xpulse update). Regardless, the primary gripe with Xpulse ADV is that it needed more high-speed cruising ability in the form of a better engine and a 6-speed gearbox. Say Namaste to Xpulse 210.Apart from just powertrain, we hope there are more updates as well. We’re talking about Karizma XMR’s new instrument screen that would make a world of sense on an ADV along with a larger fuel tank. Maybe 15L to 16L fuel capacity as opposed to 13L on current Xpulse 200 4V. A larger windscreen, perhaps?The recent spy shots reveal some body panels below upcoming Xpulse 210’s fuel tank. These will conceal the new and larger radiator for its liquid-cooled engine. Exhaust routing and end can are new too. Componentry like 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheel setup, dual-purpose tyres, long travel suspension setup, off-road worthy main frame and a Pro variant with Rally Kit are likely to remain identical to current Xpulse 200 4V.Upcoming Hero Xpulse 210This new engine is the same 210cc unit that Hero offers with Karizma XMR 210. As opposed to Xpulse 200’s 199.6cc oil-cooled engine with 18.9 bhp and 17.35 Nm, Karizma XMR’s engine is a major upgrade. The 210cc liquid-cooled engine has a 4V head along with a DOHC setup, generating around 25 bhp and 21 Nm of torque.6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch will be notable notable elements. Possibility of dual-channel ABS is 50:50, considering it is an ADV. DOHC setup will allow Hero to fine-tune valve timing and engine’s performance for multiple applications.Upcoming Hero Xtreme 210 looks beefySpeaking of multiple applications, Hero is carving a naked version of Karizma XMR 210. This is technically the same motorcycle as Karizma XMR 210, sans its handsome fairing and new headlights. In fact, the spy shots clearly show the same main frame along with engine as Karizma as well.Xtreme 210 spotted with similar engine and chassis as Karizma XMR 210So, this is highly likely to be based on Karizma XMR’s engine as we mentioned earlier and not Harley-Davidson X440’s. Other things that might be shared between Karizma XMR and Xtreme 210 are alloy wheels, USD front forks, rear subframe, fuel tank, split seat setup, instrument cluster and more.Changes are in the form of beefy fuel tank extensions (tank shrouds), a cleaner tail section, a tyre hugger, and headlights among others. We would wager that upcoming Xpulse 210 will feature revised gearing, along with a slightly different engine tune as opposed to Karizma XMR, while Xtreme 210 will be closer to its donor bike.       What To Expect From Upcoming Triumph Daytona – Icon Revival!

      Upcoming Triumph DaytonaAs opposed to its predecessor which was an all-out sportbike, new Triumph Daytona looks more like a sports cruiserThere are a few motorcycles in the world that command incredible recall with enthusiasts. One such machine rolling on two wheels is Triumph’s Daytona. The sporty credentials, good powertrains, unoffensive design language, and a culmination of cutting-edge kit and componentry are characteristics of last known Daytona.After some considerable gap, Triumph seems to be bringing back its Daytona. Only this time around, the brand’s lower-spec 660cc triple engine is what will grace this bike. Street Triple’s 765cc triple-cylinder engine would have glorified Daytona’s name further, but the 660 triple ain’t too shabby as well. Let’s take a look.New Triumph Daytona Spotted Testing – Sportiest 660 ever?Test mules feature a near production-ready motorcycle with barely any camouflage. This can be a clear indication that launch could happen sooner than we think. The overall design stays true to what Triumph has done with precious Daytona vehicles. There is a twin-pod headlight design at the front, paying homage to its predecessor.However, these headlights are now sleeker and feature LEDs in them along with LED DRLs. ORVM stalks are now wider than before and fairing is a lot more handsome. Turn indicators are very sleek with newer models and like headlights, get LEDs too. The The recent test mule shows a similar engine and platform as current Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660.Fairing designConsidering how similar they both were in terms of engine and gearbox tuning, we could see a similar setup with new Triumph Daytona as well. We’re talking about 81 bhp of power, 64 Nm of torque and a 6-speed gearbox. Just like the other two 660s, Daytona should get a TCS (Traction Control System), two riding modes (Rain and Road) and a bi-directional quick shifter.Componentry seems to be shared too. We can see similar Michelin Road 5 tyres, similar-design alloy wheels, and almost identical instrument clusters as seen with Tiger Sport 660 along with switchgear and levers. However, there are a few differences as well. There is a weird-looking exhaust that extends from the same underbelly unit as other two 660cc bikes from Triumph.Same performance as other two 660s?Front gets a non-adjustable USD telescopic forks as there is no provision for adjustments visible. Rear gets a mono-shock with pre-load adjustability. There is a slight difference in braking setup, especially with front brakes. New Triumph Daytona test mule sports a radial brake positioning as opposed to axial ones on Trident and Tiger Sport.Rear profileThese calipers don’t have any branding, unlike the Nissin-branded ones on other two bikes. We can’t see whether brake lever gets axial or radial mounting. Also, we hope there is an R version in the future with more performance and an aggressive setup like Daytona 675R in the past. We say this because new Daytona seems to have ergonomics like that of a sports cruiser instead of an all-out sportbike. India launch possibility is unclear.Source More

      Royal Enfield Sales September 2023 – Exports Down 49% YoY

      Royal Enfield Hunter 350Royal Enfield models with engine capacity up to 350cc witnessed improved sales both on YoY and MoM basisRoyal Enfield sales (domestic + exports) in September 2023 stood at 78,580 units. This was a 4.28 percent YoY decline when compared to 82,097 units sold in September 2023. It resulted in a dip of 3,517 units. MoM sales, however, ended more positively with a 1.29 percent improvement over 77,583 units sold in August 2023.Royal Enfield YoY and MoM sales in September 2023It was the company’s models in the upto 350cc segment that saw more demand. Sales increased 9.56 percent YoY to 70,345 units in September 2023, up from 64,206 units sold in September 2022. This was a 6,139 unit volume growth with an 89.52 percent share. In this segment, the company recently introduced the new 2023 Bullet 350.It comes in with striking similarities to its current counterpart but receives some changes in the form of new colour options, a revised frame and some styling updates along with an engine that also powers the Classic 350, Hunter 350 and Meteor 350. In the above-350cc segment, the company sells models such as the Super Meteor 650, Scram 411 and the 650 Twins.Sales grew by 4.36 percent YoY to 8,235 units from 7,891 units sold in September 2022. It was however a 3.80 percent MoM decline as compared to 8,560 units sold in August 2023. This segment currently commands a 10.48 percent share. Total domestic sales thus grew by 0.84 percent YoY to 74,261 units from 73,646 units sold in September 2022 while it improved on a MoM basis by 7.02 percent as compared to 69,393 units sold in August 2023.Royal Enfield sales September 2023Exports on the other hand suffered both a YoY and MoM decline. It dipped 48.89 percent YoY to 4,319 units from 8,451 units shipped in September 2022 while MoM exports fell by 47.26 percent when compared to 8,190 units shipped in August 2023.Royal Enfield Year-to-Date Sales and ExportsIn the period of FY24, Royal Enfield total domestic sales and exports stood at 4,56,986 units, up 15.70 percent from sales of 3,94,969 units sold in the same period of FY23.
