Among the heavyweights is Ather that competes with the likes of Ola Electric, TVS Motor and Bajaj. Ather’s newest offering is 450 Apex, which will be the company’s new flagship.Ather 450 Apex – Major performance boostIn the premium electric two-wheeler segment, brands are looking to achieve incremental improvements in performance. The idea is to bring the experience ever closer to that of a performance-oriented motorcycle. As may be recalled, Ola had recently launched the S1 Pro Gen 2 that offers a significant performance boost. Now, it’s Ather’s turn to delight enthusiasts with a range of upgrades. Bookings for Ather 450 Apex are open for a token amount of Rs 2,500 (fully refundable).Pre-orders now open for #Ather450Apex.Book a whole new way of riding at: https://t.co/qo2aioa7tb#NewLaunch #Ather pic.twitter.com/0F82W2NDET— Ather Energy (@atherenergy) December 18, 2023Ather had recently invited its existing customers to test ride the new 450 Apex. The feedback was phenomenal, as users reported experiences unlike any other that they ever had with a two-wheeler. The current flagship 450X is one of the most reliable electric two-wheelers in the country. It packs in a 3.7 kWh battery pack, connected to a 6.4 kW motor (peak power). Certified range is 150 km, whereas the true range is 110 km. Top-speed is capped at 90 km/h.While the tech specs are pretty solid, it appears that rivals are offering a better overall performance. For example, Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 is equipped with a larger 4 kWh battery pack. The motor generates 11 kW of peak power and 5.5 kW of continuous power. The scooter has a top speed of 120 km/h. It is likely that Ather 450 Apex will be looking to offer a similar or ever better performance.Ather 450 Apex could go breaklessBased on a teaser released recently by Ather, it appears that the new 450 Apex will also offer improved control and handling. The braking setup has been upgraded, although the exact details have not been revealed. It is possible that an advanced regenerative braking system is being used with Ather 450 Apex. “Say goodbye to brakes”, says the teaser, which indicates that Ather is likely working on a segment-first and game-changing feature. Considering an advanced regenerative braking system is used, Ather 450 Apex could have a higher true range.Ather 450 Apex will also have a distinct exterior profile. Key updates include transparent side panels, which will create a truly unique profile for the scooter. Earlier in 2020, Ather had offered something similar with the Collector’s edition Ather 450X Series 1 electric scooter. This variant had translucent side panels. With the 450 Apex, the side panels will be completely transparent. Relevant colour shades will be used to showcase the internals in a meaningful manner.Ather 450 Apex will attract premium pricing. The existing 450X is available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.45 lakh in Bengaluru. Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 is available at a starting price of Rs 1.47 lakh. More

Custom Classic 350 Build Costs Rs. 1 Lakh – Few Harley-Davidson Parts

Custom Classic 350 BuildThis Royal Enfield custom Classic 350 build costs Rs. 1 lakh excluding donor vehicle and has twin circular headlight and dual jerrycans as highlightsModifications and Royal Enfield almost go hand in hand. The iconic British motorcycle manufacturer is a favourite among modification community in India. With a vanilla design, Royal Enfield motorcycles offer a blank canvas for modders to paint their vision. One such vision is to convert a Royal Enfield Classic 350 into a continental tourer.Custom Classic 350 Build Costs Rs. 1 LakhThe amount of modifications is so extensive, that one can barely recognise it as a Royal Enfield Classic 350. We have seen many mod jobs with design flair. But this custom Classic 350 build stresses functionality and looks purposeful. The total bill for this build is over Rs. 1 lakh (excluding donor vehicle).Donor vehicle for this build is a BS4 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Signals Edition Airborne Blue. This motorcycle is now completely reworked with a black vinyl wrap along with extensive changes and upgrades to create a monstrous looking custom Classic 350 motorcycle with two jerrycans and 16 LED projector auxiliary lights.Owner Satyakam Banerjee was going for a long-tour-friendly version of his Classic 350. When we say long tour, uncharted routes were part of the consideration as well, hence the 2 5L jerry cans. Overall, the build has come out spectacular with a ton of modifications that required custom fabrication along with sourcing parts from Harley-Davidson and Yamaha R15.Before vs after Classic 350 buildThis build is still a work in progress as the owner gets new ideas to execute on his motorcycle. As of now, this custom Classic 350 build includes a fully self-modified headlight area, custom front headlight inner frames made of steel, windshield from Himalayan along with wind extender, custom designed and fabricated instrument console frame among others.Extensive modificationsOther notable mods include front disc brake covers that lend a sleek look, an aero cover for front wheel, front leg guard with LED projector HJG auxiliary lights and tied with black rope, a single-piece 1.5 seat design for comfort, Classic 500’s engine clutch plate and pressure plate, side stand extender, a beefy sump guard and foldable ORVMs with indicators from R15.The two jerry cans finished in black stand out. Himalayan’s windscreen give it a completely different look. Owner has gone with Harley-Davidson’s side vintage number plate along with tail lamps. The main attraction of this build has to be the dual circular LED headlights with protective grills that lend it an animalistic look.Twin circular headlightsInside of the circular cavity of Himalayan’s windscreen, there are auxiliary lights. Speaking of auxiliary lights, there are a total of 16 projector LEDs on this motorcycle. Motorcycle’s original fuel tank, side body panels and other elements are retained. But the swingarm is extended by 2 inches for better highway stability. There are new alloy wheels wrapped with rear 150/90-15 MRF Ralco groove tyre. There’s no rear section and entire build is kept tidy over here. This level of tidiness is susceptible for splashes, though. The K9 Megatron lettering on fuel tank and side panels grab attention as well. More

Newly Launched Yamaha MT-03 Vs Rivals – 390 Duke, Speed 400

Yamaha MT-03Despite being a single-cylinder bike, 2024 KTM 390 Duke highest power, torque, hardware, electronics and features than Speed 400 and MT-03Where Yamaha YZF-R3 used to be on sale in India, this is the first time Yamaha is launching its MT-03 in the Asian subcontinent. In India, however, Yamaha MT-03 is quite a niche as it is the only 300cc to 500cc multi-cylinder street naked motorcycle. So, we pit it against 40bhp+ naked motorcycles to see how MT-03 fares.Newly Launched Yamaha MT-03 Vs RivalsIn a recent post, we compared YZF-R3 vs its logical rivals. To compare MT-03, we have selected new 2024 KTM 390 Duke with a larger 398.63cc engine and Triumph Speed 400. We didn’t involve motorcycles like BMW G 310 R or the new TVS Apache RTR 310 as they are not close to 40 bhp. Dominar 400 is out because 2024 390 Duke is a better representation of Bajaj-KTM partnership.Zontes’ 350cc line and QJ Motor have worthy 40bhp+ contenders, but they’re not mainstream motorcycle brands in India yet and they cost more than 2024 KTM 390 Duke, which is not a good thing. So the trio for this comparo is Triumph Speed 400 priced at Rs. 2.33 lakh, 2024 KTM 390 Duke priced at Rs. 3.1 lakh and Yamaha MT-03 priced at Rs. 4.6 lakh (all prices ex-sh).Considering 40 bhp power and 37.5 Nm torque priced at Rs. 2.33 lakh (ex-sh), Triumph Speed 400 is the most affordable and will satisfy a wide variety of buyers that prefer old-school non techy motorcycles. It is the best-looking motorcycle in this comparison too, striking the right balance between neo and retro.Yamaha MT-03 Vs RivalsPowertrain hardware is top-notch too. DOHC, 4V head, liquid-cooling, throttle-by-wire, 6-speed gearbox, slip and assist clutch and associated performance. Both 390 Duke and MT-03 don’t have universally likeable designs as they take their aggressive appeal to the max, raising quite some brows and splitting opinions.Stepping to 390 Duke for Rs. 3.1 lakh (ex-sh) unlocks a host of electronic goodies, features and performance-related hardware updates along with actual performance.
