Next Kia Niro Will Borrow Heavily from Bold 2019 HabaNiro Concept

Kia has teased the second-generation Niro crossover with a set of dark images. The Niro will draw heavily upon the HabaNiro concept, with similar lighting signatures and a two-tone body. The Niro will be unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show in South Korea on November 25.Kia used the Los Angeles auto show to reveal the blocky EV9 concept, previewing a full-sized electric SUV that is due in 2024. Now Kia is preparing to unveil another eco-friendly model, the second-generation Niro crossover, and has released these teaser images. The new Niro will be shown in full at the Seoul Mobility Show on November 25, with a U.S.-specific launch likely happening later.

    Kia

The current Niro has been in production since the 2017 model year, so a redesign is long overdue. Kia says the new Niro will be influenced by the HabaNiro concept first seen at the 2019 New York auto show. Although most of the bodywork is obscured, both the U-shaped LEDs and the thin bar running the full width of the front end look very similar to the lighting elements from the concept. At the rear, the vertical lights are carried over from the concept, as is the thick, red-painted C-pillar. It’s unclear whether the C-pillar will always be red or if other color options will be available for the two-tone look. The interior shots show a simple design and a screen stretching across the dashboard.

The current Niro is offered with three powertrains: a standard hybrid mating a 1.6-liter four-cylinder to an electric motor, a plug-in hybrid with a larger battery pack good for 26 miles of electric driving, and a fully electric model. The latter uses a single 201-hp electric motor and has a range of 239 miles thanks to its 64.0-kWh battery. Kia hasn’t said if the new Niro will continue to offer a variety of powertrains or if it will switch to become purely electric. The HabaNiro concept was a full EV, but given that the Niro is not adopting the “EVX” nomenclature used by the rest of Kia’s electric lineup—such as the new EV6—we imagine it will continue to come as a hybrid. Look for more information on the next Niro later this week.

2018, 2019 Toyota Camry Recalled for Brake Problem

    David Dewhurst Photography/Toyota

Toyota is recalling 227,490 U.S.-market Camry sedans from the 2018 and 2019 model years over a problem that could cause sudden loss of brake assistance. The vane cap inside the car’s vacuum pump can wear out prematurely, break, and cause pump failure, which in turn could affect power-braking assistance. The problem does not affect the Camry hybrid, which Toyota said in its filing does not have the vacuum pump. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has posted a recall notice for more than 200,000 Toyota Camry cars over a problem that could lead to the sudden loss of braking assist. The problem involves a defective cap on the rotating vane in the mechanical vacuum pump. Toyota said that premature wear, particularly when the vehicle experiences “frequent braking and/or long periods of idling,” can cause the cap to get stuck between the vane and the pump housing and break, at which point the pump would no longer supply vacuum to the brake booster. The brakes will continue to work, but without continued vacuum the power assist could “be suddenly reduced” without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall includes Toyota Camry models built between January 16, 2017, and September 13, 2018. Dealers will repair or replace the vacuum pump at no charge. Notifications will start going out to owners of the affected Camrys in mid-December. Meanwhile, owners of 2018 or 2019 Camrys can visit the NHTSA recalls site to get further information or find out if their car is included in the recall.

Old Diesel Cars Ban Lifted In Delhi – If Converted Into Electric Cars

File photo. Image – Car PointOwners of diesel-powered vehicles older than ten years old now have a way to bypass the NGTs ban
Earlier last year, to keep vehicular emissions in check in the wake of rising air pollution in Delhi-NCR, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had imposed an order which banned diesel-powered vehicles older than ten years and petrol-powered cars older than fifteen years.
This came as a huge jolt for people who owned old vehicles, especially those running on oil burners since thousands of vehicles in Delhi-NCR became non-operational all of a sudden. However, the Delhi Government has introduced a new ruling which would offer relief to such consumers.
Old Diesel Cars Ban – EV Retrofitting
As per the new order, diesel vehicles older than 10 years can continue to ply in the National Capital Region (NCR) provided these vehicles convert to fully electric powertrain. This development has been confirmed by Transport Minister of Delhi, Kailash Gahlot, through his Twitter account. The latest ruling from the Delhi Government effectively bypasses the earlier order by NGT which banned diesel vehicles older than 10 years in Delhi-NCR.
While this step will not only help owners of old diesel cars to continue using the vehicles, it would also help develop the EV aftermarket business ecosystem. However, there is no clarity as of now if this order also applies to petrol-powered cars older than fifteen years in Delhi. There are also certain criteria to be fulfilled before this order comes into effect.
Old Diesel cars can be legally converted into EVs
Delhi department of transport will first have to empanel manufacturers of pure electric kits by approved testing agencies. Further, makers of retrofitted EV kits will also have to receive individual certification for each model they make a kit for. Once empanelled, this will enable vehicles to continue plying on NCR roads beyond the stipulated ten years.
This move is welcomed by almost all quarters while some are still skeptical about some of the provisions. Various kit makers have stated that certification should be universal like it is for CNG and not for each model since it would entail a lot of time and money, which would be borne by the makers themselves.
    Relief for electric LCVs
Apart from this, the Delhi transport minister also revealed that battery-powered Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) will be allowed entry on around 250 roads during no entry hours. This will specifically cater to only L5N and N1 categories of LCVs. The Delhi Government believes that this step will help boost demand for all-electric LCVs by transport companies operating in and around Delhi.
Battery-powered LCVs have already witnessed a 95 percent hike since introduction of Delhi’s EV Policy last year. In Delhi, there are about 38 lakhs overaged vehicles that are technically ineligible to ply on roads as per the NGT and Supreme Court’s order. Out of these, 35 lakh are petrol-powered vehicles and around 3 lakh vehicles run on oil burners that are older than ten years. More

Shelby American Promises a Special Car Announcement on Dec. 15

    Shelby American via Facebook

Details are pretty much zilch for now about this teaser posted by Shelby American on social media, but that isn’t stopping speculation about what’s to come next month. All we know is that it’s supposed to be “something special” and will arrive in the middle of December. Will it be a new Shelby GT350? A GT500KR? A Shelby Bronco? Or none of the above? No idea, but we do know that Shelby showed off a modified Mustang Mach-E concept at SEMA this month, so that’s something. When it comes to the ratio of generating comments with the fewest number of words, Shelby American is doing well. Simply by posting a picture of a current-gen Mustang not that well hidden under a cloth wrap, the company said the following on Facebook: “December 15, 2021 . . . something special will be unveiled.” Now, 1200 Likes and 590 Shares later (as of this writing), the people are curious about what spruced-up Ford might arrive next month.
This content is imported from Facebook. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

The most likely guess, based on the car under wraps in the picture, is another Shelby-modified Mustang. Motor1 notes that December 15 is an important date in the history of the Las Vegas-based tuner: December 15, 2009, is when Shelby Automobiles again became Shelby American.Speculation across the internet—informed and wildly uninformed—as to what Shelby has up its sleeve ranges from a Shelby-modified Shelby GT350 to a new GT500KR. Some voices are claiming the news will be about a Shelby Bronco model, which might seem ridiculous considering the obviously non-Bronco shape of this teaser. Then again, as the Ford Authority blog has stated, 2022 Ford Bronco production will start on, you guessed it, December 15. Or maybe this is just a corporate news announcement and there won’t be a new vehicle involved at all, making the draped Mustang just the “pic for attention” present on so many online posts.

    Wes Duenkel/Ford

While we speculate, we can familiarize ourselves with some of Shelby’s recent doings. Shelby displayed the modified Shelby Mustang Mach-E concept shown above at SEMA earlier this month. This model was equipped with special Recaro racing seats, graphene-infused composite materials, and the traditional blue and white stripes on the exterior. Ford also began taking pre-orders for the 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 on November 15. This model has a starting price of $76,695.

2022 Yezdi Roadking Adventure And Scrambler Spied On New Video

2022 Yezdi Roadking Scrambler and AdventureWith Yezdi, Mahindra-owned Classic Legends will have more ammo to take on rivals like Royal Enfield
After Jawa, Classic Legends is all set to bring back another iconic brand – Yezdi. Manufactured during the 70s to 90s, a number of Yezdi motorcycles were on offer such as Roadking, Classic, CL II, Deluxe, Monarch and Yezdi 175.
Initially, the company will be launching two motorcycles, a scrambler and an adventure bike. Roadking scrambler will primarily challenge upcoming Royal Enfield Hunter whereas its ADV sibling will rival Himalayan. Both bikes have modern-retro profile with features such as round headlamp and rear-view mirrors, tear-drop shaped fuel tank, and spoke wheels.
    2022 Yezdi Roadking Adventure Video
Roadking scrambler has a sleek single seat, rear tyre hugger and dual rear shock absorbers. Its ADV sibling packs in features such as large windscreen, raised front fender, dedicated luggage racks at front and rear, split seats and engine and radiator guard.
With the additional equipment, Roadking ADV appears larger than the scrambler. It also appears to be using a larger front wheel, most likely a 19-inch unit. The rear wheel is a 17-inch unit. In comparison, the scrambler will have 17-inch wheels at both ends. Roadking ADV has swingarm rear suspension. Both bikes will have standard telescopic forks at front.
    [embedded content]
In terms of styling, both bikes are expected to get sporty graphics. It will primarily be seen on the fuel tank, as these bikes have bare minimum body panels. Expect the bikes to be offered in sprightly colour options.
A white coloured Roadking ADV was recently spotted that had banded graphics on the fuel tank. Winged Yezdi logo along with engraved ‘Legendary Yezdi’ badging further enhance the bike’s look and feel.
    Yezdi Roadking engine
Both Yezdi Roadking and ADV are likely to borrow the 334 cc engine from Jawa Perak. The liquid cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC motor generates max power of 30.64 ps and peak torque of 32.74 Nm. It is linked to a constant mesh 6-speed gearbox. However, the engine can be tweaked to suit specific needs of both these bikes.
    2022 Yezdi Roadking Adventure
Comparing to rivals, upcoming Royal Enfield Hunter will be using the new 350cc engine. This was first introduced with Meteor 350 and recently with all-new Classic 350. It makes 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh transmission. In case of Himalayan, the engine used is a 411cc, SOHC, air cooled motor. It makes 24.3 ps and 32 Nm.
Just like Jawa, enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to witness the resurrection of Yezdi motorcycles. If things work out as expected in terms of design, performance and pricing, Yezdi bikes could become just as popular as their counterparts from Royal Enfield. Both Yezdi bikes are expected to be launched soon. They could be priced anywhere between Rs 1.75 lakh to Rs 2.10 lakh. More
