As compared to the standard 160 Duke variant with the LCD display, the new TFT variant is around Rs 8,000 costlier
In a move that enhances the overall experience with the 160 Duke, KTM has launched a new top variant with TFT display. It is priced at Rs 1.79 lakh. In comparison, the standard variant is priced at Rs 1.71 lakh. The TFT display for 160 Duke is the same unit as used with the 390 Duke. Let’s check out more details about this update.
KTM 160 Duke TFT variant
Functions available on KTM 160 Duke’s TFT dash are largely the same as available with the 390 Duke. The TFT supports Bluetooth and can be paired with the user’s smartphone to access a range of connected features. Users can access calls, music and turn-by-turn navigation when connected via the KTM app.
The 5-inch TFT display comes with bonded glass for extra strength. The colour readouts are crisp and clearly visible, even in daylight conditions. Information displayed includes speed, fuel gauge, available range (DTE), tripmeter, odometer and clock. ABS Supermoto indicator is also displayed on the screen. For navigating through the menu items of the TFT screen, the 4-way menu switch is the same as seen with the 390 Duke.
With the TFT upgrade, KTM 160 Duke has now improved upon the 4.2-inch TFT dash offered with rival Yamaha MT-15. As may be recalled, KTM had launched the 160 Duke earlier this year in August. It was priced at Rs 1.85 lakh at that time, but prices have reduced after GST reforms. The 160 Duke worked as a replacement for the 125 Duke and emerged as a more potent rival to the MT-15.
Yamaha responded by launching a new top variant of MT-15 with TFT display. KTM has now introduced a 5-inch TFT dash, larger than the 4.2-inch TFT screen offered with the MT-15. In terms of pricing, Yamaha MT-15 TFT variants are more accessible than the 160 Duke TFT variant. TFT screen is available with the Metallic Black DLX, Ice Storm DLX and Vivid Violet Metallic DLX variants of MT-15. These are priced at Rs 1.66 lakh, making them Rs 13,000 cheaper than the 160 Duke TFT variant. Entry-level variant of MT-15 is offered at Rs 1.55 lakh.
