Top 10 Two Wheelers June 2020 – Hero Splendor beats Honda Activa

Amidst a pall of gloom, there’s some glimmer of hope with auto manufacturer’s bale to get back to business

A lot rests on the dynamic two-wheeler market in India owing to its sheer volume. There’s no telling, when and if the industry will bounce back to pre-Covid-19 pandemic buoyancy. But for now, business is on despite varying lockdown protocols.

It goes without saying that the top 10 two-wheelers sold in June 2020 have all been reported at a sales decline. Hero Splendor a top contender for the longest time, and certainly the best selling motorcycle remains in numero uno position. Sales for June 2020 is reported at 1,80,266 units. Lower by 62,477 units from 2,42,743 units sold in June 2019 at 25.74 percent sales decline.

The auto manufacturer takes second spot to with HF Deluxe, and has a total of four two-wheelers in the top ten selling list. HF Deluxe sales decline is at 32.92 percent down to 1,29,602 units sold, down by 63,592 units from 1,93,194 units sold in June 2019. Below is the list of Top 10 Two Wheelers June 2020:

Honda Activa, a top contender settled for third spot last month. Sales fell to 1,21,668 units, down by a massive 1,15,071 units at 48.61 percent sales decline, down from 2,36,739 units sold in June 2019. Bajaj Pulsar sales is steadfast in these tumultuous times. July 2020 sales is reported at 80,822 units, down only 2,186 units from 83,008 units sold in June 2019 at 2.63 percent sales decline. Hero Glamour sales fell 35.24 percent down to 45,252 units. Sales fell by 24,626 units, down from 69,878 units sold in June 2019.

The next 2 lakh two-wheelers sold in July 2020

TVS XL, the only moped on the list saw sales decline by 22.26 percent. Sales fell by 11,633 units, down to 40,620 units from 52,253 units sold in June 2019. Honda CB Shine sales tanked, having less than halved. sales fell by 44,555 units, down to 40,316 units sold from 84,871 units sold in June 2019. Hero Passion, the last product on the list from the top-selling manufacturer saw sales fall by more than a quarter at 28.93 percent sales decline. Sales fell to 39,900 units, down by 16,243 units from 56,143 units sold in June 2019.

TVS Jupiter sales decline is reported at 32.75 percent. Sales fell to 37,831, down by 18,423 units from 56,254 units sold in June 2019. On last spot is Bajaj Platina at 38.05 percent sales decline. Sales fell to 35,277 units. Down by 21,670 units from 56,947 units sold in June 2019.

In all, the top ten saw cumulative sales decline of 33.61 percent. Sales is reported at 7,51,554 units. That’s volume loss of 3,80,476 units from 11,32,030 units sold in June of 2019. While it’s an improvement from sales in May 2020, and miles behind June 2019 sales, manufacturers are patient about footfalls trickling in under current circumstances.
