Hero HF Deluxe BS6 receives New Variants – Prices start at Rs 48,000

Previous Hero HF Deluxe BS6 variants have received a minor price hike while the overall starting price came down

Hero MotoCorp has updated its entry-level HF Deluxe budget commuter motorcycle with the addition of three new variants. In other words, the 2020MY Hero HF Deluxe BS6 comes in five variants in total: kick start + spoke wheels, kick start + alloy wheels, self start + alloy wheels, self start + alloy wheels (black version) and self start + alloy wheels i3S version.

Updated pricing

Prices for the 2020MY Hero HF Deluxe BS6 start at Rs 48,000 ex-showroom. Here is a brief breakup of the five variants:

  • Kick Start / Spoke Wheels: Rs 48,000
  • Kick Start / Alloy Wheels: Rs 49,000
  • Self Start / Alloy Wheels: Rs 57,175
  • Self Start / Alloy Wheels (all-black): Rs 57,300
  • Self Start / Alloy Wheels i3S: Rs 58,500

Thanks to the addition of a new base-spec ‘kick start + spoke wheels’ variant, the overall ex-showroom starting price has dropped considerably from before. However, prices of the previous variants have increased slightly. In July 2020, Hero MotoCorp had registered over 5 lakh units in domestic sales thanks to an overwhelming demand for the HF Deluxe and Splendor range.

Hero MotoCorp has a strong budget commuter motorcycle portfolio and this is also the reason why the Indian automaker continues to be the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world. Last month, the company witnessed impressive sales figures but underwent a decline of just under four per cent. The Indian automotive industry is still making a gradual recovery from COVID-19 and the initial two-month long strict lockdown protocols.

It appears that two-wheelers are doing relatively well amid these challenging times. This is quite unusual since motorcycle and scooter sales often dip during the monsoons. On the other hand, major automakers have introduced online sales platforms to provide a safe, efficient and socially-distanced path for purchasing a new vehicle.

Specs & features

Powered by a BS6-compliant 97.2cc air-cooled FI single-cylinder engine, the Hero HF Deluxe makes 7.91bhp @ 8,000rpm and 8.05Nm @ 6,000rpm. This is mated to a 4-speed transmission. Key features and equipment include CBS (combi-braking system), engine cut-off on falling, 2-step adjustable rear hydraulic shock absorbers, alloy wheels and i3S technology.

It comes in five colour choices: Techno Blue, Heavy Grey with Green, Heavy Grey with Black, Black with Purple and Black with Red. Fuel tank capacity and kerb weight stand at 9.6 litres and 109kg (kick start variant; 112kg for ‘self start’ variant), respectively. The motorcycle commands a ground clearance of 165mm.
