- The 2021 Mazda CX-5, CX-9, and 6 will be available with a new Carbon Edition appearance package.
- It comes with Polymetal Grey exterior paint, black accents, and a red leather interior.
- Mazda says it will release more details about these 2021 models within the next few months.
A new appearance package for a few 2021 Mazda models may be confusingly named—we’re not sure what exactly is “carbon” about it–but it looks decent to our eye. Available for the 2021 Mazda CX-5 compact SUV, CX-9 three-row SUV, and 6 mid-size sedan, the Carbon Edition package combines a Polymetal Grey exterior paint scheme with black bits of trim and a red leather interior.
The Polymetal Grey exterior color was first introduced on the Mazda 3 hatchback and will now be available on these other models as part of this package. It contrasts with the wheels, mirrors, and a few other pieces of exterior trim finished in black. Red leather upholstery is found inside, along with red stitching and black trim with a honeycomb pattern.
Mazda has yet to release pricing and equipment details about the 2021 CX-5, CX-9, and 6, but we expect to hear more about minor updates soon. The Carbon Edition models will likely cost a bit extra; it’s unclear at this point which trim levels the package will be offered on, but Mazda says the Carbon Editions will come standard with features including smartphone-mirroring functions and heated seats. Look for them to reach dealerships later this year.
