2021 Land Rover Defender 90 Two-Door Finally Coming to U.S.

  • Land Rover has announced that the two-door 2021 Defender 90 is finally available to order in the U.S., along with the already available four-door Defender 110.
  • The new model year also adds a new X-Dynamic trim level, which gets gloss-black cladding and more durable interior materials.
  • The 2021 Defender starts at $47,450 and should arrive in the U.S. by the end of this year or early 2021.

The 2020 Land Rover Defender, the first Defender to make its way to U.S. shores, has been arriving at dealerships and reaching customers in the States. And as we’ll start seeing more and more Defenders on the road, Land Rover has already announced the 2021 model year, which has a new trim level, and said that the two-door short-wheelbase Defender 90 is now available to order in the U.S.

Jeep already offers a two-door version of its Wrangler off-road SUV, and Ford will have a two-door version of the highly-talked-about new Bronco off-roader. Even though the Land Rover Defender is a more premium and luxurious off-roader with a higher price, it’ll need a two-door version to compete with the Americans off-road. The four-door Defender 110 was available in the U.S. at launch, and now the two-door 90 is available to order for U.S. customers.

Land Rover has also added a new trim level to slot in between the standard Defender and the fully loaded Defender X. It’s dubbed the X-Dynamic, and it’s distinguished by gloss-black painted door and wheel-arch cladding and satin-finish skid pans. Inside, there’s a durable synthetic fabric called Robustec to protect what Land Rover says are “areas that are subject to heightened wear.” The X-Dynamic is available with the S, SE, and HSE specification packages.

In addition to the new X-Dynamic trim, which starts at $59,150, the two-door Defender 90 comes in four other models. The base Defender 90 starts at $47,450 and is powered by a 296-hp turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The S model, which also uses the turbo four, starts at $50,750. A 395-hp turbo 3.0-liter inline-six powers the X-Dynamic and up, with the First Edition model starting at $65,450 and the fully loaded X starting at $81,850.

The 2021 Land Rover Defender is available to order now starting at $47,450 for the two-door Defender 90 and $51,850 for the four-door Defender 110 and it tops out at $84,350 for the Defender 110 X. Expect the 2021s to arrive in the U.S. by the end of the year or early next.
