2021 Acura TLX Gets $4500 Price Bump, Type S Starts over $50K

  • The new 2021 Acura TLX starts at $38,525, a big jump over its predecessor.
  • The base version has a 272-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and either front- or optional all-wheel drive.

Acura is charging a lot more for the new version of its TLX sedan, as the sports sedan’s starting price jumps $4500 over its predecessor. The base 2021 Acura TLX 2.0T starts at $38,525 and ranges up to nearly $50,000 when fully loaded, reflecting its extra power, features, and more stylish looks compared with the previous TLX. Acura isn’t providing official pricing yet for the performance-oriented TLX Type S, which won’t go on sale until next year, but claims it will start in the low-$50,000 range. That model has a 355-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 and standard SH-AWD.

The base TLX’s standard powertrain is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque—both big improvements over the previous TLX’s base engine, a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline-four. Front-wheel drive is standard and Acura’s SH-AWD all-wheel-drive system is a $2000 option, while a 10-speed automatic transmission is standard across the board.

The TLX 2.0T offers a few additional trim levels that provide more equipment over the base car. The Technology package model starts at $42,525, the A-Spec version with a few appearance tweaks starts at $45,275, and the Advance package model starts at $47,325.

Acura says 2.0T versions of the 2021 TLX will start arriving at dealerships September 28. More information is still to come about the TLX Type S, including official pricing, while we wait for its arrival in the spring of 2021.
