- The Limited Black Edition is a black appearance package for the Limited trim of its 2020 Ram HD 2500 and 3500 trucks.
- The package can be had with any configuration of engine, rear- or four-wheel-drive models, and in both single and dual rear-wheel setups.
- The package costs $1295, and when equipped with it, the Ram 2500 Limited will start at $64,440, FCA said.
Blacked-out, murdered-out, monochromatic, night edition, and so many more names are used to describe the ongoing automotive trend of making every possible piece of a vehicle’s exterior and interior black. The latest is Ram, which announced a Limited Black Edition for its heavy-duty trucks.
Available on the Limited trim of the Ram 2500 and 3500, the Black Edition is an appearance package only, but it’s thorough. Opting for the package means you’re signing up for black exterior pieces such as door handles, the grille, badging, headlight and taillight bezels, side-view mirrors, and tow hooks. Wheels are also painted black, with single-rear-wheel models getting 20-inch wheels and the dual-rear-wheel models getting 17-inchers. Inside, the cabin is a sea of black leather and black trim pieces interrupted by silver accents and the large 12.0-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system that is standard on the Limited trim.
The package is available on both rear- and four-wheel-drive configurations and with both engine options, a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 or a 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel inline-six. The starting price for all this black starts at $64,440 for the rear-wheel-drive Ram 2500 with the gasoline V-8.
FCA offers other blackout options across their brands; Chrysler has the S appearance package, Dodge has Blackout, and Jeep has Altitude and High Altitude, all of which add black accents and wheels to the vehicles they’ve been applied to. And both Ram 1500 and HD models got a monochromatic package last year, too. You have to admit, they look good in black.
Dealers will start getting Black Edition Ram trucks in the third quarter of this year, FCA said.
