CFMoto 250SR faired sportsbike unveiled as a potential rival to the Suzuki SF Gixxer 250
CFMoto, the Chinese two-wheeler brand that recently made its Indian debut, has unveiled the all-new 250SR faired sportsbike. The suffix ‘SR’ expands to Sports Racing. The quarter-litre motorcycle was spied a few times in China and is a fitting rival to the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250. In the Chinese market, the motorcycle has a starting price of CNY 18,580 or roughly Rs 1.91 lakh.
It is too early to confirm whether the motorcycle would come to the Indian market. However, various reports state that we will get the CFMoto 300SR instead. At present, CFMoto India has four models in its portfolio: 300NK, 650NK, 650MT and 650GT; with ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 2.29 lakh to Rs 4.99 lakh.
2020 CFMoto 250SR in Starlight White
Coming to the new CFMoto 250SR, the motorcycle sports a decent design which, at least to some, would feel a bit ‘inspired’ by some popular names. The LED twin-headlamps and C-shaped DRL arrangement look interesting while the side profile sports a neat livery. The 250SR comes in only two colours: Starlight White and Starlight Black. At a saddle height of 780mm, riders of most sizes can find their ideal seating position.
The new CFMoto 250SR is powered by a 249.2cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine that makes almost 28bhp at 9,750rpm and 22Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. To put things into perspective, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 makes 26bhp at 9,000rpm and 22.6Nm at the same 7,500rpm, from its 249cc oil-cooled SOHC single-cylinder motor. Both motorcycles come with a 6-speed transmission. In China, the 250SR can be bought in either CBS or ABS version.
In typical faired sportbike nature, the CFMoto 250SR is equipped with clip-on handlebars. The wheels are shod with 110/70 R17 and 140/60 R17 tyres at the front and rear, respectively. Fuel capacity has been capped at 12 litres and the overall dimensions stand at 2010x750x1080mm. It has a wheelbase of 1360mm.
Other features of the CFMoto 250SR includes a TFT instrument console (coloured on the ABS variant) identical to the one on the CFMoto 300NK naked sports motorcycle. It gets a 292mm petal disc at the front and a 220mm rotor at the rear. The exhaust system is an under-belly unit. The rider can switch between two modes: Sport and Eco. If CFMoto brings its quarter-litre range to our market in the form of the 250SR or 300SR, expect it to be priced attractively.
